Glad I found this video. I need to take the front bumper off of mine to replace the damaged grille before I sell it. I have a 2013 LTZ. Apparently there was a 2014 trim refresh, which has a different bumper. So It's good that this has the same bumper design as mine. Thank you for the detailed video.
I am happy to hear this issue, though unrelated to mine, was able to help you fix your bumper. Sometimes innovation can be bittersweet when it comes to cars. =) Thank you so much!
There are two silver metal brackets one on each side of the radiator that hold it in place. Once those two clamps are loosened up, it frees up the radiator. The condenser and intercooler I believe if I recall are just held together with clamps that slide the intercooler and the condenser stacked onto the radiator into a three piece unit.
Shit sucks man, the jacking points on these newer cars are complete ass, making it harder for street mechanics to do our part. Recently I invested in a low profile jack, although now days I place the jack stands under the control arms and I only jack up one side at a time to prevent this. There's safer places to jack up from underneath the control arm or under each wheelbase, granted you don't have a car that has ball joint bleeders in the way or any other random crap. Yeah I don't know...
It has nothing to do with plastics. Those cars aren’t designed to be jacked there. Not only is it unsafe, it’s impractical and results in damage 96.5% of the time. Furthermore, NEVER, ever put jack stands there. Ever.
You are a real bad accident waiting to happen man. Who taught you how to work on a vehicle? Get the darn jack stands properly placed before you set it down. Use the jack for extra support/safety measures. Place the wheels under the vehicle for extra safety. There is no reset button once that thing falls on you or someone else. Also not worth tearing up all of those parts every time it falls. Wow. Props for the efforts and insight
I have always been a real bad accident that has been waiting to happen and still is. No one taught me how to work on a vehicle. I'm self taught. Nonetheless you're welcome for the insight I guess.
@@mnjsworld I am self taught for the most part too. Sorry if I came across as insulting, but I honestly just don't want anything bad to happen to/for you. We all learn as we go. take care
I'm pretty sure you don't have to remove the entire lower spoiler. Only the last screw holding the wheel well liner, the wheel well torx screws, and the 7mm bolts on the wheel well liner under the bumper.
lmao This happened to me with my 15 Malibu, jacked it from the front where the bumpers underside meets a bar, was jacking it up and it slipped messing up my radiator and ac condensor. Most expensive oil change! Lesson learned!!
