Instead of replacing the transfer case at a minimum cost of $3500, pull the ABS fuse and run as a front wheel drive. This TC apparently doesn't have a rebuild kit. The noise is most likely a bad bearing. Unless Mini has a better replacement TC and can guarantee it (only if you buy theirs at $$$), I'm just going to run it as front wheel drive. I can always put the fuse back in on a snowy day and to get it inspected.
