It's pretty obvious why Ryosuke lost. He kept trying to set up Trick Room even though it was obviously playing right into Arash's hands. Had he packed Safeguard on Cresselia or brought out his Thundurus to use Taunt on Amoongus, he could have shut Arash down very quickly. But no. Had to stick slavishly to the Trick Room strategy even though Arash already showed that he was ready to take advantage of it. It's kind of amazing that he made it to the finals if he can't adapt at all.
Why do people criticize Arash for using spore a lot? Ryoskue used trick room in a way that gave Arash an advantage, so if Ryoskue hadn't used trick room, the final score might of been different.
I love that Arash is no stranger to expressing how he feels, with the fist pump and mini pop offs, you love to see that kind of energy. What a set and what a well deserved world championship for him.
"Spore is broken. He cheated. Blah blah." Anyone who says that clearly doesn't understand how to play Pokémon. There are many ways to shut down Spore spammers (Grass types and Taunt for example). Ryosuke could have very easily used his Thundurus's Taunt w/ Trickster to completely shut down Amoongus. But no. He stuck to the same strategy of using Trick Room, which ended horribly for him round 1 because he helped the Amoongus more than he helped his own Pokemon. It's his fault he lost. Not because Arash abused a "broken" mechanic.
This is 5th gen. Spore still works on grass types. Though you have a point about Taunt, the power of hindsight is something you have that Ryosuke didn't.
Everyone crying because Arash won by putting Ryosuke pokemon to sleep, but if you really know to play, you well see that he won because he was able to anticipated all the oponent's moves. Aaaand yes, a little of good luck
Zlatant I thought that too. I mean that earthquake was easy to anticipate and why use helping hand when he should have known that one of the two will go to sleep. If he had attacked with Cresselia he would at least have gotten an attack off in that turn. Also he really got hurt by his own trickroom. Looked to me like Ryosuke wasn't really adapting to Arash's pokemon
Here’s the thing though - luck and RNG is at the core of Pokemon. You HAVE to play around it, and you HAVE to adapt to whatever the game throws at you. Ryosuke didn’t adapt in the slightest. He stubbornly stuck to his one strategy when he was shown multiple times that even if he got the first turn wake up it still wouldn’t play in his favor.
Okay, to everyone complaining that Arash only won by spamming Spore: Let's not forget that Ryosuke had Thundurus and could have easily brought it after round one to lock down Amoongus with Taunt. Also, Sleep is a valid strategy. Sure, it might be cheap, but there are ways around it. Ryosuke could have prevented Arash from using that strategy and as harsh as it sounds, it was his own fault for not doing so.
Spore is so counterable. A VGC player should always have a taunter at the very least, or a quick, hard-hitter with sub, just in case an Amoonguss or something decides to pop up in team preview.
You can't OHKO an Amoongus/Venusaur with any random Ice/Fire/Flying attack, and using a pokemon with prankster ability is more like a burden... gotta ask Ray Rizzo how he deals with mushrooms.
Maltrab26 Those are good now- but this was in 5th gen so Talonflame didn't exist and im not entirely sure but i don't believe Safety Goggles did either, as for Gardevoir- not going to do much if it gets put to sleep on switch in, fails to OHKO, taken out by the other enemy, or Trick Room makes it faster.
Arash won becuase his opponent used trick room and that boosted amoongus' speed. and why would he use landorus when you see a defiant tornadus and a mamoswine?!
And this is what people are apparently ignoring because of amoongus's spore. They don't realize that it was Ryosuke's fault for putting up trick room. It's also why I carry safeguard on my cresselia. :)
Even thought it would been 50% for it to work since he already used it once, I think Ryosuke should have picked protect for Landorus at 24:00. The game might have changed drastically if he picked protect and it worked.
He definitely deserved that win. I really want to start playing Pokemon competitively. Can't wait for X and Y to come out. It's been almost 5 years since I've bought a pokemon game.
It's a shame both times the trick room by Ryo worked completely against him, not sure what his other options were 2nd match, but Amoonguss had so much fun, trick room seemed like a fail choice
well he still won , the move is in the game for a reason and im sure theres an effective way to counter it like every move in this game. Pokemon is rock paper scisor gone wild , dont be mad if somone spams rock and you only use scisors.
swsh and SV are alright, but nothing beats this astethic and era of pokemon. Nothing in my childhood was more fun than me and my bro getting silver and gold and playing all christmas break. Man, the good ole days
INCREDIBLE!!! ;) SO touching! I would NEVER be able to travel to another country dor a game because I'd be really anxious and my family would never encourage me to do that! ;( Plus, WHAT NICE PEOPLE THESE ARE!! I just love them! ;)
Lisander Sirius HAHAHA, adoro a 31:40 quando non capisce cosa gli viene detto😂 Comunque si,ho visto piu emozioni di arash in 20 minuti che in 6 mesi quali lo seguo haha
Stop complaining about the Arash's strategy... He is the champion on his own merit! Beat him, and you all will be able to say something, 'till then, just admit, He's Very Good! Congratulations!
Dat english doe Arash! Anyways I'm happy that he won, our country deserved that imo, he just played like the beast he is, he has awesome predicts, he totally deserved that..
PLEASE! can somebody tell me what's going on with arash's tornadus? cause my serperior has the same star effect when sent on the battlefield and I don't know what it is...
WOW AWESOME POKEMON BATTLE ! I wished if I have been in like these battles ! I LOVE BATTLEING LIKE THIS . & awesome champion . I SAY 1000000000 AWESOME BATTLE.
There is no rule against that in VGC. Smogon usually has a sleep clause, limiting one Pokémon asleep at a time, but as many Pokémon can be paralyzed, burned, etc as you want.
I think it was embarassing, yet cute, that he didn't answer the questions they were asking him xD but I'm happy he won :) he was homble and I think a true champion is portrayed by his character and his honest skills.
00'Sky if only I wasnt lying. as mentioned in a video I watched, the only reason this guy had a no guard machamp on his team was to deal with sand veil garchomps. differential rules include that VGC: cannot use multiple items (cant use two leftovers) the only banned Pokemon comprising of the following: Arceus, Celebi, Darkrai, Deoxys, Jirachi, Manaphy, Mew, Phione, and Shaymin. (you can use up to TWO of them however) and there are no clauses that smogon has. pretty much, do whathchu want (swagger klefki included) but dont you dare use phione!
Well, things like abilities can be swayed to work out how you want it to. Nature is passed on 100% of the time via breeding with Everstones in B2W2, and you can drastically improve the chance of getting the right IV inheritance if you give the other parent the right Power item. Egg moves aren't a problem, and thanks to Join Avenue, you can hatch 10+ eggs in about 2 minutes. By using these well, I managed to get Pokémon with almost perfect IVs in under 100 eggs in less than a month.
It's not always the same strategy. Rain teams, Sun teams, Hail Teams, Sandstorm Teams, Trick Room teams, Tailwind teams, and balanced teams are just some of the different varieties. Besides the aforementioned Machamp, a Marowak, a Rhyperior, and a Magmar were all uncommon Pokémon integrated into the finalists' teams. Some strategies, like using spread moves (Rock Slide, Earthquake, Eruption, Water Spout, Blizzard) are simply much better, and you would be at a disadvantage not to use them.
Tornadus isn't as common as you think, but its power and speed coupled with high-powered moves like Acrobatics make it useful offensively. Cresselia is very common because it has great bulk and great supporting moves like Helping Hand, Trick Room, dual screens, and Icy Wind. Many people use the same Pokémon because these Pokémon are effective at winning, which is just how the metagame works. People still used less common Pokémon to win though, like Machamp.
