31:50 wolfey’s face here is iconic but jonathan’s expression of just “oh my god what did I just let him do” is honestly just as funny. You can see the stress
Can we all appreciate how well Aaron Zheng commentated. He had so much energy and it actually made the games much more fun and exciting to watch. I loved his hyped energy which is funny because he is always so calm in his vids. Most likeable character in the game rn don't @ me.
It's mad watching this in 2022 and seeing this praise after he hasn't been selected to commentate worlds this year. Such a terrible decision, don't know why they didn't include him especially since he split his time between competing and commentating which made it more difficult for him to qualify to compete in Worlds. Just feels so disrespectful to someone who has given so much to the competitive community.
I know I'm 6 years late, but he made a commentary video over this, and he said it wasn't actually a hard read, he was just trying to cover for all possibilities lol
Came here after watching Wolfe's latest video about why Pokemon is the most complex game ever, with his perspective on team preview and in-depth analysis of making the optimal play on turn 1. That insight into his thought process made this a lot more enjoyable to watch.
When I had heard Wolfe was in the finals for Worlds, I cheered for him even though I couldn't watch the matches myself. This is a long time deserved win, he has worked so hard to get to be the World Champion. Good job to both Wolfe and Jonathan!
Dude I hate Verlis. Wolfe deserves this win after all he has accomplished, all his past victories have lead up to this and he whole heartily deserves to be World Champion. I like Wolfe, he's a good guy. I'm just happy to see another person who shares my opinion ^.^
Jwanie Verlis is just... ugh. I don't understand how people support him either. Wolfe and the other VGC players seem so nice and down to earth from what I have seen and heard from people who have met them. Why attack them? Verlis is just a bad stain in the Pokemon Community.
Jwanie Honestly, I think he is jealous. His sets are absolute garbage, so he attacks VGC players and other poketubers because they have more success then he does. Its just really annoying how he gives the Pokemon Community a bad name.
Watching competitive Pokémon got me back into it. I was a Gen 1er. Played silver/gold but never finished. Wolfe channel single handedly got my juices flowing again.
The commentators were way better than the ones from 2011, they don’t know how Pokémon work, Aaron and Evan L. made the games a lot more exiting but, the commentators from 2011 make me feel like face palming myself
The sauce on top is the fact that Wolfe and Aaron are really good friends so he has the background knowledge on Wolfe's playstyle and mentality. He was very much qualified to commentate this legendary set.
He’s the type I usually am attracted to . And him playing Pokémon adds all the more charm. Course the attraction is merely superficial since I don’t know him. I do enjoy his videos :)
Huge fan of Wolfe. I’ve been a fan since 2012 with him in the worlds. Such a great person. More then deserving of this title. I come back to this monthly. Congrats again. He played this game like a true Pokémon master!
Wolfe is such an INCREDIBLE player, i'm really happy that he became World Champion!! He totally deserves it, not only he's able to teambuild flawlessly, but also play said teams! I may sound like a fanboy, but what can i say man, he's just that good.
To all people who though he hacked the raichu: This and the dream ball raichu are different raichu. Do some research before you accuse anyone of anything.
To add to this: The Endeavor Raichu Wolfe had came from a special Pikachu that was only obtainable from participating in the Pikachu Cup online competition that ran from August 21st to August 23rd, 2015. Players who played 3 matches online would get a serial code containing the Pikachu which had the moveset of: Volt Tackle, Fake Out, Encore, and or course Endeavor in addition to having its Hidden Ability Lightning Rod. In other words to those said naysayers, their argument has been completely shot down. Source was bulbapedia
Jonathan’s reaction following 32:00 is pretty incredible, in ten seconds he goes from a jumpscare to a look of disbelief at his screen, and finding no answers there he turns his gaze up and to Wolfe for any kind of hint. And assumedly getting none, he just sits there listlessly for a good while afterwards hahaha
@@sinnohperson8813 oh that's true. I think even without megas they're super iconic and memorable. Sinnoh Legends come 2nd because they're really powerful and memorable as well.
@@Insertnamehereplz It’s an exciting sporting event. If one of your favorite athletes/team was playing in a football or basketball match, or if it’s just an exciting match, you would be excited. Your outlook on this is heavily outdated. Just because someone is excited over this, doesn’t mean they don’t have a life.
Everyone is complaining about the game are those who hack the game, I'm surprised how many different flags people were waving in the crowd Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Italy's flag being waved in the crowd.
+naruto alif Just because a mon isn't legitimately obtained, doesn't mean the player is a cheater in a battle. It just shows laziness, not lack of skill or awareness.
PlanetaryRogue It's not even laziness. These people work really hard. The meta game changes on a day-to-day basis, so you really need to be able to adjust your team on a moment's notice.
There will be in VGC 2017! Every year there's a different ruleset. Legendaries like latios or landorus are often legal, but not things like Groudon. This is the first time since 2010 that legendaries are allowed!
Jonathan seems so easy to tilt. He reacts so much on every play. When he does well, he essentially runs victory laps around the building, and when he’s in a bad position, he looks like the angriest dude of all time lol such volatile emotions are easy to manipulate in a competition such as this
All these people complaining about legendaries, hacked pokemon, lack of diversity, etc. 90% of em dont even know how to play competitively too. Why don't they sign up for a tournament and demonstrate it there? lol. Really enjoyed this match, congrats to Wolfe!
Yeah, I'm up for a banlist (I vaguely remember there used to be one), but telling the pros not use certain OP pokemon to be "unique and creative" is stupid.
Jwanie I tend to just watch the finales of VGC so I'm not even an expert and even I can see the logic behind pokemon being repeated . The fact the matter is that certain pokemon are better than others at the same role. It is great that when players can find unique ways to use obscure pokemon, but it's very rare and unlikely to result in consistent wins.
The tinyurl seen in the crowd at times like 2:58 is just a Rick Roll for those curious. Also just as a note please preview the link somehow when presented with a weird shortened url or any other sus links. There's various resources on how to do so. The University of Michigan has a website with resources just for this kind of stuff.
HiramsThoughts If you go to wolfe glicks channel Wolfeyvgc one of his top videos is his team report video which has all the evs ivs and moves of the team he used here.
