No programming for my year model. I went through XDP for mine. I think it was around $250 at the time. Also…. make sure you order a new connector tube. You don’t want to do all of that work just to find out that the tube was bad also. Might as well do it while you’re in there.
I have a 2014, running fine one day, went to start yesterday and I hear a very noticeable loud ticking at 1000 RPM's (in the engine compartment), anything above that it goes away. Also when I put it in drive I heard what seems the same in your videos although not as loud, but similar. Did you notice any engine ticking with it? Also, is there no risk starting the engine with the valve cover off like that? I may try the same thing. Thanks!
Nathan Brown I did occasionally hear a ticking noise. But only when the engine temp got up to around 160 or 170. Which was the same temp the knocking would start. From what you are describing, yours sounds more like valve clattering. As far as running it with the valve cover off, there is no harm in running it for short periods of time like that. Just keep a clean environment around that area, and make sure you dont have any tools laying in there lol!!!! I just commented on another guys response about his as well. Ill tell you the same thing. Im not there to really diagnose the problem, so its hard to give you the correct answers. And im not sure how mechanically inclined you or anyone else may be that are asking questions. But if you keep me updated with whats going on, and all of the symptoms, ask all the questions you want man. Ill do whatever i can to help. Bc i know the frustration of not wanting to take your vehicle somewhere thats gonna give it to you with no lube, if you know what i mean. You are probably like me, and would rather just fix it yourself bc its hard to trust bringing it in. Im definitely not a specialist when it comes to these engines, but i did mechanic work for about 9 years as a profession. At some point, i will figure it out. Especially with a global network to help out. I would also suggest going to cumminsforum.com for help as well. I found a lot of good information on there, and most of it wasnt really involving my issue that i was having. But none the less, still educated me. Like i said bub, if i can help, i will.
@@shugbe5477 Thanks for response, I found the issue late last night. The plug screw from the EGR Cooler blank off plate had worked its way off. After consulting with the guys at www.igotacummins.com/ they say it's a common thing and just replace the threaded plug. Just need to find one now, out in the middle of the California desert during a pandemic. Thanks again!
(my temps will be in C because I'm Canadian) I'm having a similar problem but only once the engine is up to 90 aka operating temp, if its any cooler the tick doesn't happen, and i can't get it to happen when the truck isn't moving which makes it rather difficult to chase down, that said its directly connected to engine RPM if I'm doing 100 kph and drop it into neutral and rev the engine to 2500 RPM the noise speeds up, same RPM while stationary and in neutral or drive and there's no noise, ill try unplugging injectors but I don't have a CEL and I figured a misfire would trigger one
Ron Neal Yes sir it did. Sorry, i have been slacking on doing a follow up video on this situation. I replaces the #6 injector, and the fuel tube as well. Changed both fuel filters and dumped some treatment in the tank. Shes been running good ever since. But i also make sure to run additives on every fill up, and to make sure and run it at least 100 miles every week. Shes not my daily, so she does sit a little bit. But all seems to be well as of now. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, just let me know bub.
Shugbe5477 Thanks so much! I ran a injector balance test on a scanner and it showed fine.however I’m still gunna give this a shot. Did the knock get louder with more rpm?
