No need to take off the grey tab. Just pull it up. Also better to change the filter screen below the sensor if you have one
@mchenrykramer

I did not know to change the filter screen below the sensor, but I wish I did. I am now getting oil filter alarms that probably have to do with the filter screen clogging. Sadly, I will probably have to pull the oil pressure sensor again just to replace the filter screen.

....and here we go. Have the same truck (year/model) and have (or had) the same problem with the oil pressure sensor. So, as all my peeps know my favorite saying is "RU-vid is our friend" and I have fixed many items courtesy of "our friend". This time was no different - starting the job meant I had to work myself into the work space and at that point I stopped and on a whim called the local car repair guys I use when something is beyond my capabilities, I really don't want to do it or it's too cold to git'r dun. They quoted me $500 because their process requires them to remove the manifold - I thanked them, came in and reviewed this video again and made it happen. Great video, keep them coming because I really love my Silverado. Kudos!!!

Because nobody actually explains it, when your getting the electric plug off pull the white tab up and the there is a black tab holding the plug on, so you'll push the black tab in a pull the plug. Then from there itll be easier to have a extension and a swivel to get the sensor off. Once you get that off your going to want to take a small screwdriver or a pick to get the filter out and put the new one in. Then put your new sensor on tight, plug should go right on (unless you broke something), make sure the white tab is down, reconnect everything you took off to get back there and start her up...this is what i learned in 2 days

I am not sure about the oil pressure line part number. Might have to get a parts store to identify it and order it from them or online, if you can find it. Seems like a common part.

I have an 0'12, and having the same annoying Ass issue, I am hoping a flush will clear it up. Waiting for for warmer temperatures. My truck lives outside, and I have to work on it, in an uncontrolled environment ( Canada ). The idiot lights and bell sounds are driving me bonkers. Especially the service engine soon light, when it is on, I cannot command start it.(comes off and on as well) Oh yes, that five three purrs away like a kitten, nothing wrong with it at all. GM and their stupid screen below the sensor.

Bro it's not as easy as the other RU-vidrs make it out to be. The space is tight, the plug could be in a bad position.

What would happen if I just unplug it and leave it off ??
@mchenrykramer
@mchenrykramer 2 года назад
I am not sure what will happen. However, I imagine that the truck will still run the same way it does when there is oil pressure sensor failure. You will probably get a similar code. It will look like an open circuit with no sensor plugged in. I am not sure if the oil pressure is used for any calculation that determines how the engine runs. That would be my main concern leaving it out long term. Personally, I would not want to drive without any oil pressure indication.

@@mchenrykramer I agree, however my 13 Silverado just showed 0 oil pressure today and a very nice old man and his wife stopped driving a yota... lol... he said my truck don't even have a oil pressure gauge. so in reality when vehicles don't have gauges as some don't just " gas and water temp" gauges. you'd never know until it starts knocking. opinion just a cost and a nuisance. to have the sensors.
