Just bought the same pipe for my 2016 Striple R, still a week away. Is it obnoxiously loud without the baffle in? I've heard the gp style like this is very loud either way on this Triumphs, what do you think?
Not a massive fan of this exhaust, but man, this has got to be THE BEST motorcycle exhaust vid on youtube. Before & after clips & installation, very well done mate.
I installed the pipe on Tuesday and ordered the baffle which is on it's way. I'll do a comparison video when it comes in. I love the new tone and look and think it's completely worth it, but it's definitely too loud. I've got ear plugs under an Arai helmet and revving past 6k is just monstrous. My friend, when hearing me rev it in neutral in the parking lot, started laughing. I asked him why. His response was, "dude, you're definitely gonna get pulled over!".
Will, took me only 20 minutes to replace it. Man, this can is loud! Once again, thanks for the video! What I also did was to remove the cover from the cat, it looks much better! Give it a try...
I just put this on my bike. I ordered the baffle, and it is a good thing. RU-vid does not reflect how loud this thing is. I like the sound with my helmet off, though it is too loud, but with my helmet on going down the road it feels like it is vibrating into my brain. I will put in the baffle tomorrow (ran out of light). Those screws don't come out easy to put the baffle in unfortunately, or I would have had time to try it out too.
I absolutely loved both the pipe, and the way you showed the swap. I'm a klutz, but think even I could do the change based on this simple, elegant, and simply elegant video. Could you do one in which you show how to change the oil? And go up from there. Adjust the values; then maybe one of dressing cool; all with the eventual goal of achieving, "Why we ride." To get girls.
I don't have the baffle, as its sold separately or I would do a comparison - good idea. To keep the CW GP slip on from peaking levels - I did knock down the recording level - 10 db in this video on the CW GP exhaust.
No baffle with mine, saw on their site its an additional item and not included. I love the sound, but totally understand you concern - gotta comply. The stock ST3 exhaust was too quiet for city riding for me - would rather have someone know I'm next to them rather than not hear me.
got baffle in now. a little quieter on tick over. got the engine re mapped to the Arrow race can map (because Triumph don't have a recognised mapping for this exhaust). And happy days. As long as I don't give it a hand full it built up areas then all good. I have actual travelled along side our wonderful traffic police on a duel carriage way. With no probs.
Thanks for the video, i got mine after comparing with other pipes, plus the comp werkes is good value too. I even installed the pipe myself, something i never thought i would but your vid shows it's quite easy. DAMN THE PIPE IS LOUD. Loud and angry. My neighbours are gonna hate me now. And definitely need earplugs to ride.
That sounds great! I always loved the triple but wasn't a big fan of the noise that came from the stock exhaust. I read that there was no need for you to change the maps but I was curious if you noticed any drop in mpg since the change?
Very good video indeed. Exhaust manufacturers should do videos like this one if they want to sell more. I was thinking on a Zard before I saw this video. Very good. Gary Furlonger, did you buy the silencer? Is it "legal" now? And does it still sounds nice? Did you had to pay customs in England?
Did you take it to your local dealer to have the tune updated? You should be able to run the applicable Arrow tune and get a better running bike. I'm a Triumph tech.
@WillRoegge, This might be a silly question but, did you have to purchase the insert also for installing the exhaust? I'm just trying to cover everything for my purchase...?
In all of the videos I have seen nobody removes the lower heat shield. I'm sure it would look better but is the thought that it would damage the belly fairing?
dude I have just ordered this exhaust. does it come with baffle? that if I am forced to might have to put in.as most English police seem to have sensitive hearing.
got the exhaust fitted it. Then took it off. Far far too loud for English Police. Tried contacting Werkes about the baffle. I asked the question, "is it just a matter of unbolting the 3 allen screws dropping in the baffle then retightening the screws. They said they would get in contact with me but that was 4 days ago. No joy so far.
I'm been seriously considering this exhaust for my bike. Since you've had this exhaust for a few months now, are you happy with it? Don't want to drop the money if it's presented any issues.
I think it looks kind of awkward. I think if they designed it with a slant that ran parallel to the seat angle the exhaust would look a lot better. Otherwise nice sound
Why do manufacturers put these monstrosities that pass for exhausts on a finished motorcycle...I could understand if they did a line in aftermarket exhausts to make more bucks but they don't ......I've yet to see a good looking stock exhaust on any bike
