i think it's sad in general to compare martial arts to each other in completely different settings. I mean, how exactly do you argue Taekwondo being an embarrasment to UFC and 'other' martial arts without specifying? There's a select number of guys K1 and UFC that use Taekwondo footwork, kicks, or strategy. How can you also argue this when you're watching WTF Taekwondo matches? There's like, a dozen or more organizations for Taekwondo and some of them often just look like kickboxing, which guess what: most MMA fighters would have to use in their striking game.
To clarify, I am not comparing two different martial arts, I am comparing more along the lines of the rules, which make for a boring TKD competition vs. a more exciting MMA competition. As you correctly pointed out, there is use of TKD in MMA, and it can be very effective.
athlete sports and killer is different sir..... i dont think u wanna be hit by someone, so u will do anything to save yourself.... all sport have good n weak
I do Taekwondo but i put in some punches along with it. The art will help you develop some devastating kicks when you fight but in terms of WTF taekwondo being helpful is ehhh....
press power kicks of tae kwon do. watch the youtube video and you ll get your answers. if you have never fight in a tae kwon do match you cant understand. i ve left way too many championships with my feet double in size and purple in coulor. so plz if you dont know or have never participated in a fight dont judge cause trust me when you go down and you need some spray on the place of your body you got hurt it means it s bad. or you can let me hit you once on the leg and we ll see if you ll be ok
I will never understand why a fighter is not always concentrated to his opponent for the entire match instead to watch tv-score!! (german took 3 points because of this)!! so.. mexican will learn the lesson for the next time!!
I hope you're practicing what you see as well. I'm looking for a way to counteract the Cat... I can do it, but we always end un one-to-one and I need for my students not to be hit.
How would TKD hold up in a street fight? asking as I know someone who is a black belt in it and thinks they could beat anyone average street fighter. I disagree but then again I know nothing about TKD.
I don't think I said anything here about killing. How did my initial comment get construed that way? What I am saying, once again, is that the rules of Olympic TKD make for a very boring match. Hands are used to grab and hold instead of punching, which is part of TKD. Rules do not necessarily prevent deaths, but if death is what one is worried about, then don't compete period. Training, skills, and conditioning prevent serious injuries. To elaborate again on my point, Olympic TKd is boring because of the rules. Watch Serkan Yilmaz, K-1 fighter with WTF TKD fighting background. Much better than the Olympic competition.
Lee, you are right that this match is boring. But it's not because of the lack of punches. At the core, corruption of referees is the biggest problem in the world of wtf. And instead of solving it, they tried to circumvent it by implementing the daedo electronic system to make point decision fair (tkd is the only martial art to do this). But the system is so faulty that it completely changed the way the game is played. What you see are two athletes who do nothing but try to hit the nearest sensor with their front foot since this is the best way to score a point and it is boring as hell. Then, to try to compensate this, they changed the rules again and started overrewarding head kicks by not even requiring any kind of impact. As you can see, this match was interrupted for 6 minutes to dispute a head kick that never hit and then change a protector because the battery ran out of power. So in the end, the matches are still boring but now laughable as well. WTF as it is now, is not entertaining for the public nor is it satisfing for athletes such as I and this is hurting the sport.
The rules in Olympic TKD make for a terrible representation of TKD. Change the rules and see the real TKD at work. Too many fight stops, kiddy complaints, no hands to the face, just kick and drop or kick and grab. Booo!
seriously what the fuck with them acting like they are hurt all the fucking time previously i saw the best moments of the 2013 world championship and most of the *moments* were people lying down acting they dying, taekwondo = soccer?
