If belt good can walk it off by turning the crank shaft with 24mm/ 15/16 socket
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul Месяц назад
Yeah that is true. I normally always quote a belt with the job just to be safe. I have seen lately that some compressor will not warranty a compressor now unless you change the belt, especially if it is a stretch belt, and most require you to flush the system no matter what too. But if the belt is in good condition you are right, you can always walk them off just like you put them on.

had a mechanic do motor mounts because I had a back injury.. he left the damn plug off the back of that AC pump.. Turns out with that disconnected, the clutch will engage however no cold air.. I'm assuming that is some type of pressure switch or valve that stops the flow of freon? I got it connected however it was after I pulled the lines and discharged the system.. The guy said to bring it in and he will do the draw down and 1234yf charge for free.. this is why i have trust issues with 'mechanics'..
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul Месяц назад
I fully understand that. That is one reason I started doing the videos as well to show my customers that I actually change stuff and I try to show me running the vehicles at the end as well. There is a pressure switch both high and low for this.

I'm guessing these would be the same instructions for a 2015 Tahoe also, right?
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul Месяц назад
It is pretty much the same procedure. It may have a line or so that is a little different routing wise.

My 2014 just chunked the AC belt. AC has been working great. Do I just replace the compressor or is it a possible clutch issue? TIA
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul 14 дней назад
I would see if the clutch will spin or if it is locked up. It could be a clutch issue.
@ryannegrete9799
@ryannegrete9799 13 дней назад
The clutch spins very freely.
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul 13 дней назад
@ryannegrete9799 can you rotate the compressor then? If those two are good then the only thing I can think of without looking at it is the belt may have been bad.
@ryannegrete9799
@ryannegrete9799 13 дней назад
I understand and I appreciate all the info and time sir! I was driving down the road and heard something squealing really loud and then stopped squealing. The AC got hot a few seconds later. So I will check the compressor itself first and repost so maybe my problem will help others as well.

Would be good clean (flushing)system before filling up (why ac doesn’t work before)just my thought
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul Год назад
It is a good idea and many times a compressor is not have a warranty unless you change the condenser or flush the system. Typically I flush the system if I do not change the condenser.

I’m having some AC problems with my 2017 Silverado. AC works great until it gets really hot outside (mid 90s and above), then it starts blowing warm air. Pressure in the lines is good, doesn’t appear to be leaking refrigerant anywhere. I’m wondering if it’s a bad pressure switch. Where are they on these trucks? It looked like one on the back of the compressor? Where’s the other?
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul Месяц назад
Do you have a temp gun? If so, check the temperature across the condenser to see if it is a lot hotter on one side versus the other.
@DevinGrindy
@DevinGrindy Месяц назад
@@operationoverhaul I don’t, but I could get one and try it. That said, the condenser was replaced just a few month back and the whole system recharged. I’ve only had the truck a month, so it was the previous owner that did it. The condenser looks brand new though, so I would imagine it’s not the culprit.
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul Месяц назад
@DevinGrindy if it has been replaced I would check the pressure switch. There is one on the compressor and then one on the high pressure line. I believe it is near the condenser on the driver side but I cannot remember. It may also be closer to the compressor.

How similar would this job be on a 2016 Tahoe
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul 2 месяца назад
This should be very similar if not the exact same procedure. Normally the tahoe, silverados, suburbans, yukon and xl, and sierras are all about the same as far as engines. The are a few differences but mostly the same.

Currently having problems with my 14 Silverado ac is cold sometimes then just starts blowing warm/cool air not cold. Pressure is good high and low pressure switch is testing good replaced relay all blend doors are working correctly and no codes you can hear the clutch working but has a very slight rattling noise. But it’s always done this. Any ideas what to test next Thanks

The only info I can find for my 2015 Suburban shows that they use 6.6oz of PAG46 oil. My compressor came pre-filled with 3oz of 1234yf oil and says that if my system requires PAG46, I need to drain the oil and refill it with the PAG46 What the hell in the correct info??? Thanks

Why mine keeps leaking where the high and low hose meets compressor ?
@operationoverhaul

Could be the gasket leaking, the mating surfaces are not true, or the hose ends are bent.

I have a 2014 Silverado. I click the link for the ac compressor it shows me a RYC compressor not a Murray like in the video. Are all Murray AC components all owned by O’Rileys auto?
@operationoverhaul

No they are not owned by oreilly. I can get you a link to the Murray if you would like. I'll get it for you tonight when I get home.

Yeah that would be great. I looked all over the internet. I can not find Murray Climate Control website anywhere. But I do believe O Riley’s owns the trademark for Murray. No other parts store sells that brand.
@operationoverhaul
@operationoverhaul Месяц назад
You are correct. I looked it up and Murray was purchased by Oreilly's Auto. I also discovered that RYC and Four Seasons are sister companies as well. So a RYC and Four Seasons (I think Napa carries them) are the made in the same factory. I could not find a link to a Murray for you. The RYC is the only one I can find. Sorry about that.

No problem. I just wanted to double check some of the part numbers before I purchased and came along all of this. I do know RYC has a website but even putting all my info in. It shows a couple of kits but It doesn’t show the difference. So I have tried calling them and I emailed them waiting on a response. But your video is very helpful. I just like doing a lot of investigating before I purchase. Just so I have all the right stuff here when I go tearing it down.
