Thanks for this video. There is hope after all. I wanted the Infotainment screen of the 2020 Highlander XLE but the body style of the 2019 was more appealing to me.🤷🏽♀️ Do you know if this can void the warranty by doing this?
This generation of Highlander was notorious for radio reset issues due to the Eutune unit. We recently bought a 2015 and it has the same issues (radio unit constantly shutting off / resetting, especially when connected to Bluetooth). Does this method get around those problems, or is it best to just replace the entire unit with an aftermarket stereo?
I have a 2015 with no issues, however if you want to replace ur radio, I'd suggest either the ATOTO or Joying radio units...Or the saiata Radio is good as well (might have spelled wrong)
Picture quality at 360 or less. This device is not worth more than $100. There is a loud bang in the speakers when you turn the car off. Not something you would expect from $650 unit. I should get aftermarket radio unit. Very disappointed. FYI they filter ( moderate ) reviews on their website letting only the best ones through. This comment will soon probably disappear as well. OVERALL NOT RECOMMENDED !!!
You may sharpen up the picture quality by lowering the contrast. The loud bang you hear when you turn off the car is not normal. You can email us for tech support as we stand by our products. We do not filter reviews on our website.
$500 is pretty expensive. I am frustrated that Toyota has refused to support Android Auto until 2019 and won't offer an update like Mazda did for it's 2014-2018 models. Only new models that have Entunes 3.0 will get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Two questions: First, you didn't show the placement of the device. Is there enough room to place it behind the radio and how did you attach it? Second, does it matter whether or not you have navigation on your Highlander as mine has that and it appears the one you are replacing doesn't have it?
Yes there is enough room right behind the radio and also towards the glove compartment. It doesn’t matter if you have navigation or not. Both are compatible.
As this is NOT compatible with the 360/bird's eye view camera systems, are there any options to add Apple Car Play and/or Android Auto to vehicles equipped with the 360/bird's eye view camera systems (e.g. Highlander Hybrid Limited Platinum)?
We're still currently developing a solution for the 360 camera system for those vehicles. Please email us at info@beatsonicusa.com to be placed on a waitlist!
Thanks Beat-Sonic. If I understand well, my only chance to get Android Auto in a Highlander 2017 is either your device, or installing a brand new Android Auto head unit (like Kenwood, or Sony, or others) right ?
I'm from sri lanka and I have toyota chr 2020 but no android auto and there is no navigation map for sri Lanka. Can you upload video that shows installing android auto apple car play box to 2020 chr please
Can a better microphone be added to the package to bypass the car's original? I have a 2016 and the mic is poor quality from what I hear from people who I talk to on my phone.
That is due to the iOS13 glitch that is not pushing calls to car Bluetooth. This can be fixed by selecting the vehicle bluetooth manually when calling or receiving calls on your phone. Or if you would like we can send you a microphone to use calls in AUX mode. Using vehicle's bluetooth will yield best calling experience but using another external microphone will be better than how you are using it currently. Please email us at info@beatsonicusa.com for the mic
There was some mention when the 2017 Highlander came out that there “ should be “ a factory upgrade to allow Apple Car Play and Android Auto. I’m not “ techie” How much does this cost?
Will these still be in stock tomorrow (12/15)? Or did they already come back in stock and sell out? The website doesn't list an expected back in stock date anymore.
Unfortunately out of stock now. Current wait is at least 3 months. You’ll get pushed up in line if you get it installed by us. Email us to get on the list info@beatsonicusa.com
Will this unit support future iterations of CarPlay and/or iOS? I’m considering purchasing but want to be sure the investment will be worth it over the long term.
Do you recommend where can I buy this car play module for my 2019 Toyota Highlander? The local businesses do not sell the harness for the 2019 Highlander and want me to change out the entire head unit
You can purchase it at beatsonicusa.com and we will ship it to you for free. Please note it is currently out of stock and will be restocking in a few weeks. Please sign up to be notified when the item comes back in stock directly on the product page
When you say. Entire head unit- does that mean /include the screen? My screen is not very responsive so I’m wondering if a new head unit will be ideal for me
My volume was already set at 56, is there any way to get more volume? I’ve only tried a phone call. Any tips on where to put the two boxes and wires? Doesn’t seem to be much room behind the unit.
I finally got it all to fit! Next one will be easier 😂😂. It is actually a pretty easy installation. Your videos are what makes it that way. I have a 2014 Highlander. Any volume advice?
Please email us at info@beatsonicusa.com. Looks like some customers are experiencing volume issues from this batch. We should have a solution in a few days as we are looking I o this matter
what about firmware upgrades, is this unit upgradable to fix bugs and add new features, to make sure it continues to support newer ios and android versions as the technology continue to improve. any installers in the DC/ Baltimore MD area. thank you for the great installation video. and review
Firmware updates will be provided for at least 5 years if needed. New features will be added if available. Any local reputable installer who is willing to read and follow instructions can install this kit as it is plug and play. My pleasure!
Depends on the update. Update for the Carplay box will be VIA USB connection. Any update to the interface will require you to access the interface box. We are not expecting any more firmware updates on the interface box.
@@BeatSonicUS what about Toyota Entune updates, is there a chance that those can affect the beat sonic interface? Also do you have a video or picture showing how to fit the interface behind the head unit? There doesn't seem too much space. Thanks!
Finally can see what is "behind the curtain". Been impossible to find this info - could you make a video that shows the entire back of the unit and show what each connection is for? The small bottom box on the unit...Is that the SiriusXM receiver? How can I get that upgraded? Toyota also shorted us there as well by only providing a basic receiver (limited channels) and not full access (all channels). I don't want to use my phone data for something that is already paid for. Do you offer something to fix this - or can I just upgrade the antenna/vehicle kit or is there a box to switch out and yet have the exact functionality as before? Thanks!
@@randomrazr no i haven't bought anything yet. Still looking. However, this product is the closest I have found. I really just want CarPlay/Android Auto and upgraded Sirius XM while keeping everything else in the factory radio (backup camera, steering controls, dashboard display, USB ports, etc). I wouldn't mind replacing the whole unit but again having all the features I want is challenging at an affordable price and ease of installation. Every full replacement with a new unit I've seen requires new microphones, GPS cables and the backup camera is iffy at best. So frustrating.
Please find the model# and make information using this link and email it us at info@beatsonicusa.com to ensure compatibility: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tEWCEVztvHs.html Yes, it now uses the factory microphone
Does that just mean the 360 won't work while using it in apple/android mode? Can you toggle back to factory mode and use 360 view? Or does that mean that this unit won't work at all in Birdseye 360 equipped vehicles.
When Apple car play is being used and you put the car in reverse does the regular back up camera w/ sensors kick in? Also, if you’re using Apple car play and you click on the Birdseye view button does that also work normally?
Yes, the regular backup camera with sensors will kick in when engaging reverse gear while in Carplay mode. Birdseye view button will also work normally.
Does this work with the Toyota Kluger Grande in Australia? Its essentially the same vehicle as in the US, but a different name for the Australian market.
Hello, excuse me, friend, where can I get those cables that you use and what is the name of that system that I use for the car? I have one like it in 2019, could you please help me?
Hey, I saw the question about the 360 camera and your response that it says it dosen't effect it, however when i go to order one on your website (with the link provided) it says that it is not compatible with the 360 system, can you clarify this. Do all the regualr factory menus/ and setting work with this system as well? Also you ship to Canada right?
I apologize for the confusion. Initially we thought the 360 camera would not make a difference but when we actually tested it would not work. We are working on a solution now but don’t expect to have one until the end of the year as our development has been temporarily halted due to coronavirus.
@@BeatSonicUS of course, thank you for the quick response, if we were to purchase this do you think the fix would be a new product or just an update, should i wait to purchase until you have a solution.
I have a 2012 Toyota Highlander limited. If I buy the apple car play box, will the Highlander have the ploughing system same as the apple car play box that you were connecting in the video.
Will I lose capability to adjust my factory vehicle selections? For instance, making fob unlock all doors instead of one, alert volume, change Home Screen…
I don’t think 2019 highlander comes with carplay. You can use our kit to retrofit a carplay to your 2017 highlander! Check description for link or visit us at beatsonicusa.com
There’s some room behind the radio between the top dash and right below it. Small opening is you don’t have the top dash speaker. Also some room on the right side of the radio towards the glove box. If you have the full optioned highlander you’ll have to organize the wires and move them around to keep all the open areas “flat with all the extra wires and harnesses. Also turn the connectors to be flat and parallel to the radio.
Hello, excuse me, friend, where can I get those cables that you use and what is the name of that system that I use for the car? I have one like it in 2019, could you please help me?
Hi what stereo is that you installed? I have a 2014 Toyota Highlander and my radio played out twice. I need a new system. I’m wondering what is a good unit with car play.
Yes it works with 19 highlander base model. Send me an email with your radio model number and make information and we can confirm info@beatsonicusa.com
@@BeatSonicUS Note that the Highlander LE radio is not the same radio as the other models, the LE its screen is smaller. I am interested in installing this system.
Hi Eric can you do a video installing this Apple car play kit on the Toyota Carrolla model that you done a while ago installing the mirroring kit the link to the old video is ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ayeuBDSFun0.html
If Apple Carplay is being used, can you play the car radio stations at the same time or is your only option to play music and radio through your iPhone apps?
Yes, you can play the car radio stations at the same time. However, the turn by turn direction sound will not be heard. To make it work, we recommend downloading the radio application on your phone.
The voice button on the steering wheel is locked to the toyota voice commands. You will have to long press the bottom right corner of the carplay interface to active Siri or you can also state your command “hey Siri”
I wanna daisychain this somehow with the bypass but theres no room for any more modules behind the radio. Would be cool to use bypass also as cable for carplay.
There’s room behind and top area of the radio. If you need more space you can go to the right side towards the glove box. If you need even more room, you can route the wire to under the glove compartment area behind the carpet.
