I wasn't even looking to do anything with the stereo for my tacoma. stumbled across this video and ordered it a couple of days ago. Installed it today in 5 minutes. Great purchase, I'm loving it. Thanks.
Just purchased this for my 2017 Corolla XSE which has the exact same 2.0 Entune. Installation was pretty easy and it works perfect wireless connection connects pretty fast
I recently plugged my usb stick with all my music into the usb port from the dongle. Is there a way to listen to usb with CarPlay on the screen? Or a way to quick switch? I’ve noticed I can do one or the other but once I switch to CarPlay I can’t get back to the usb.
Just installed in my 2019 Tacoma SR5. Appreciate the install video. Nothing against you guys, but this product is really janky. The resolution using CarPlay is pretty bad, and after messing around with this thing for about an hour, you definitely lose sound quality. I’ll be uninstalling and returning.
Thanks for your comment. Apart from worse audio quality, are there any other downsides? Is it really responsive and not laggy? Dit it retain the stock features? Were the steering wheel buttons working OK?
@@seventhtower buttons on the steering wheel worked but the screen resolution was terrible. It looked worse than standard definition. Don’t waste your time or money, this is cheap Chinese garbage
@@urs-trly have you tried adjusting the resolution in settings? These units apparently have settings when you can adjust the resolution to match the native resolution of your OEM headunit. I'm still tempted to try it...
@@seventhtoweryes, but no luck. I tried everything I could think of. The worst part was the loss of audio clarity. I just installed all new door speakers, tweeters and a subwoofer. Made no sense to keep it
Thanks for the video. I bought it and very happy with it however i cant find an easy way to switch from the carplay screen to the fwd cam unless i disconnect completely my phone i can access the carabc settings. Plz advice if u know how thsnks
wayy better than beatsonic. i remember i had a 2016 scion tc HU in my scion XA, and wanted android auto, but beatsonics was like $600... so i ended up buying an android headunit just for android auto. I preferred the OEM look. But i think i will just order these for my parents as Christmas gifts.
I just installed it and was extremely disappointed.. The screen resolution is terrible.. it reminds me of a TV from the 90s. Returning it back to Amazon
Hi, awesome video! Can you tell me if you can listen to the radio in the background while viewing the CarPlay screen? Or does choosing the aux input to get to CarPlay make it so you can’t listen to the radio anymore? I like to listen to local radio while using Google maps through CarPlay in my wife’s car which came factory equipped with CarPlay. I’m in a 2019 Tacoma with Entune 2.0, non-JBL. Thanks!!!
For a 2015, do you need to use the included USB connector for a CarPlay? Is there a way to route it to the OEM installed USB port? If not can you continue to use the OEM USB port for charging and the USB port that comes with this CarPlay unit for CarPlay?
Great video and thank you. I’m having an issue after installing the adapter, when I shift my Tacoma out of reverse, the backup camera stays on for like 2 seconds before showing the regular screen on the head unit. Have you experienced this at all?
I dont have navigation and Carplay in my Toyota CHR 2018 . Would this work for mine ? I mean , to use Andoid Auto , Apple Carplay and Navigation ? Like - Waze , Google maps and etc ?
The Quality sound only change using the “aux” and device? But if i return menu and Connect to the original bluetooth system radio is always the same original sound quality? Althoug carabc is connected?
Anyone know how to exit wireless carplay to get back to the carabc menu? Impossible to see the front camera unless you disconnect the bluetooth on phone.
@@OrangeWiresGaragethe Quality sound just change using the “aux”device? But if i return and Connect to the original bluetooth system radio is always the same quality?
Yeah so basically it’s using an antiquated way of sending video. So the down side of these units is that you lose overall picture quality. Typically these run $200 or less, where a whole new fully functional unit is between $500 and $2,000+
I installed this but now, intermittently, whilst system is booting, I get all sorts of errors! The pre collision avoidance detection fails and the car doesnt turn on. Any ideas what might be causing this? Eventually by getting out the car, locking it for a few mins and getting back in and turning on the error clears up but I'm worried about a short circuit or it happening whilst driving! Any tips?
This thing is so buggy. Installed it in my 2017 Toyota Tacoma easy install with this video. But the actual device is terrible. It maybe connects 50% of the time it’s never consistent.
Hello! I have a doubt. Were you able to identify whether, when you use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, during a call, which microphone is enabled? Whether from the stereo or from the cell phone?
@@OrangeWiresGarage Sorry, I think I explained myself poorly. I meant if, when you speak on a call, the microphone that picks up your voice is from your phone or the device in your car?
Here is the link to the radio. It is a Efflemour: Limited-time deal: 5 Inch Single Din Car Stereo Built-in Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/Mirror-Link, Touchscreen Radio Receiver with Bluetooth 5.1 Handsfree and 12LED HD Backup Camera, FM USB Audio Video Player a.co/d/j1pwYan
@@marketpapi everything worked but the screen resolution is not great (which I knew before purchasing). So to have CarPlay and retain all factory buttons, it is nice. It just wasn't nice enough for my tastes due to it looking like a 240p or so-so quality (solely due to the factory headunit, not the adapter itself) so I returned it.
