2014 Ancient Jewish Wedding Feast 

One very important point missed at the end was that although they were legally married at the point of betrothal prior to the 1 year wait the marriage was consummated in the grooms fathers house while the wedding feast took place. The bride and groom were secluded for 7 days because of the issue of blood. A cloth normally embroidered with the name of of groom and bride was laid on the marriage bed prior to consummation. The blood stained cloth from first time union was presented to the father of the bride as evidence of purity and as legal evidence should any question of the bride's purity come into play. There is no covenant without the shedding of blood. The references in the last supper of Jesus would be understood in a marriage context. The difference being it is Jesus blood which demonstrates the purity of the church to his Father through the blood covenant of calvary.
