As an avid mechanic I can say, This is one of the best mechanical channels on RU-vid. Simple, on the point and great video quality. Thanks for the great content.
Kevin, I thanked you before but having just tackled this on the drive, I must thank you again. Knowing ahead of time details like how high to raise the car, gradually compressing the o/s driveshaft cup back in [it felt like it wouldn't go], the gearbox angle when dropping it down and your technique for solo manhandling it back up/in [bloody heavy!] was invaluable. Trying to work that last one out with that lump of steel & aluminium resting on my chest would have been a nightmare. Not to mention the risk of damaging the new clutch if you get it wrong. Thanks again.
pleasure to watch you work. Smooth movements, every single ste well thought through. Deep respect for the hard, work. back when i was young i did many jobs w/o lift or pit, but definitively have to bow to you.
Clutch Ninja! I've watched a few of your A3 vids now, ahead of tackling the job on the drive. Your great camera work has given me a heads up on potential issues. The time and effort you've put into showing us how it's done is very much appreciated, thank you.
@@WMCS A quick question: You didn't use the reset tool that LUK recommend on their self adjusting clutches. I can see the 3 yellow springs are compressed suggesting the clutch is reset out of the box, so is that reset tool procedure not necessary if those 3 yellow springs are compressed indicating the self adjustment mechanism is already fully reset?
hello, I went through Google to send you this message because I don't speak English 🙂, I wanted to thank you for your work it's excellent because you make us see everything. I have a client who would like me to change the clutch for her on an Audi Q3 2l 140, and seeing all your videos I feel capable of doing it but I'm hesitant. I have already changed clutches but on French brands.
I havent fitted a clutch for years since my apprentice Citroen days back in the 90s. Newer cars just phase me but after watching this video, im keen to give it a go. Cheers
Great video again Kev. I have used your videos as a guide when I changed my MINI clutch. I also replaced the gearbox bearings. I chickened out of lowering the box on my chest though 😂.
a small tip for ppl i see struggle with those clips on sensors and such. Push inwards the plug and push to lift the lock Thus the plastic lock clip lifts up by itself easier.
Hi Kevin just wanted to say a big thank you for doing my Audi you have done a FAB job you no your stuff mate trust me if anybody asker's your the man PS you are a very nice person got time to talk by the way video is great Al the best mate and thank you
@@javaidsadiq5775 dead easy and straight forward with VAG, I imagine because they earn most of their money by fixing them in house down the line. No one takes their vauxhall to a dealership cause they're budget cars, hence they're cheaply lazily designed and manufactured
Hi, great video helped me do same to my car except I encountered an issue. Bought whole set in which dmf was exactly same as the old one but clutch plate and pressure plate are different looking. Now clutch feels light under foot, pedal don't bounce back fully and i can't put catlr in gear. Could it be those different type of clutch making issue? Tha K you for any response
Hi Kevin - I've followed many of your drive way clutch changes and was inspied to undertake one on our Peugeot 2009 207 1.9 GT thinking it would be similar to the other 207's - now I know why we haven't seen a 207 GT being done :) lots of dismantling of top and bottome end bits to get to the clutch but we got there in the end...;)
Hi long time but good see you still up to it have not been seeing much as i lost my son about 6 months ago so keep up the good work and see some more thanks nigel 🏴👍
Amazing work, i can tell that a lot of work went into this video. You took the time and effort to film every little detail. Thank you a lot! Little question: aren't the DMF bolts supposed to be torqued down to 60Nm +90°? Or it doesn't make big difference?
@@WMCS Thank you for the quick reply. Another question : I have a stock Ibiza 2.0 TDI CFHD EA189, my clutch and DMF started to fail, so I'm thinking about upgrading to a stronger kit, but im struggling to find one for the right price, I've thought about putting a Golf 6 GTD kit on my car (but I'm not sure if it fits) Can you suggest one for me please? And how can I check if it fits?
Roughly how much does it cost to replace and fit new DMF + Clutch Kit on a 2009 Audi A5 2.0 TDI (6 Speed Manual) ? Clutch judders when moving off from first gear or if stationary in traffic and if clutch is held for too long the car starts to move by itself and clutch gets into this half stuck position. You seem to know exactly what your dealing with. I'd like to know if you can also come to Cambridge?
Buenas tardes, excelente su video. No obstante hacerle una critica a la marca alemana Audi: El diseno tan adsurdo y por demas complicado tedioso para cambiar el embrague.
Awesome Video man, i have 2 Questions, did you use new bolts for the pressure plate? And i see alot of people saying you need to use Special equipment for the SAC Clutch to preload it before putting it on, my Set arrived few days ago and im gonna swap it tomorrow, and my pressure plate isnt Preloaded, but never have i seen a mechanic preload it with special equipment, what do you think?
Hi Kevin great informative video as allways. Love the close up shots. What make tool are you useing to centre the clutch plate please? All the best Matt. 👍👍
Hi Kevin. It's been a while... Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that u could let the right axle in the ball bearing - no need to undo the big screw. Only unmount it on the gear box side (the 6 screws) + the flange in order to take the gear box out. Of course you need to undo the bottom 3 screws that hold the lower arm attached to the wheel nuckle, in order to be able to push the inside part of the axle away from the flange. Or maybe u could get away even without undoing the 3 screws from the lower arm at all? What say U? Could be a bit of a time saver...
Also would be very interesting to see (a close shoot) where exactly do you put the hydraulic lifter (jack) in the center, under the car at the start and the end of the job, to lift and lower the car on/from the jack stands. The exact body part of the car... 10X
I see u did that already in this video, for the black VW: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mdTcCysDzv0.html You didn't even take the right wheel off - even more optimized...
Hi Kevin, I have a B7 Passat similar gearbox! How do you jack up the car so high! I have 15 VW Passat TDI tips or showing how to jack for clutch replacement would be great preferably on Audi/vw product
What fluid is that that you are adding back into the gearbox near the end of the video? Is it just the gearbox oil? Amazing video helped me with my own A3 massively! Keep it up
Because these bolts are not of high quality and they tend to oxidise and rust in the threads. The rubber grease stops that from happening. Just for whoever works on it in the future.
Just had the full kit changed on my audi a3 quattro 2011, prior to before getting changed I noticed the car is still vibrating noise on 1500 rpm? I thought it was the dual mass vibration noise but it’s clearly not that. Any idea what it could be. 🙇🏽♂️
@@WMCS thank you for your response. I don’t think it the tyre. It could be the bearing or mounts. As a mechanic have your ever come across to similar symptoms like this previously. The noise goes away when i drive a little faster.👍🏽
Greetings from Bosnia, can you tell me if a special tool is absolutely necessary for installing the pressure plate or can it be done like you do, just tighten the screws
@@WMCS A new set of clutches was installed, everything was done as you did and I have a problem when I first start the ignition in the morning, when I press the clutch, it gets stuck in first gear, while when I hold the clutch pedal for 5 seconds, it goes without any problems, I changed the Febi 75wGL4 gearbox oil
Just a quick one, how would a lightened dual flywheel on a Volkswagen Golf 2.8L V6 4MOTION Mk4 2002? 02M gearbox. I use it as a daily driver. It has 185k km original clutch. I would like to mate it with a Luk clutch. Thanks in advance.
I wouldn’t do it if I was you. I’d stick to the dual mass flywheel. You’re looking at direct engine torque into the gearbox. It’s too much for the main shaft bearing to take. Your gearbox will soon start playing a rattling tune.
