I would definitely choose the Buick over the foreign competition. It looks better and is larger inside. Even though the wood is fake, it is more attractive than what the others offer. This man said that it is slow at 7.3 seconds but that is VERY fast even by today's standards. Who is going to race their Buick crossover against another vehicle? This is a FAMILY car. I LOVE this car.
cadrolls The enclave is slow AF and sounds like crap and I went through 3 and had transmission problems in all 3 I would not recommend this vehicle but I would recommend the encore and Lexus rx350 f sport
The enclave has its strengths, but I've personally had issues with the infotainment system. It's too slow, irresponsive, and takes what seems like a minute just to change a song. I'd much prefer a Nissan Rogue than a Buick.
Damn @cadrolls you beat me to it. I wouldn't buy a Buick for racing. I want something comfortable for my family. I'm glad you love it because I'm about to buy one in 2023.
Wow, I've seen a lot of reviews of vehicles on youtube. This is easily the best I've seen. Very informative. But also very condensed, knowledgeable and efficient. Well done!
As a car guy in car service owner looking for another vehicle a few years old this is the absolute hands-down best vehicle review I've ever seen. Thank you and keep it up.
I was just googling for "Enclave 2014 review" and landed here. I don't usually comment on reviews - but I think your work here is excellent. Even if GM provided the car, I felt like your review was honest and to the point. Thanks for doing it ! :)
He is right on the headrest ! I am 6'2 and I can not find a sweet spot when driving long distance...... however gonna thy to raise it up and try to wrap a hand towel the headrest bars to help this out. But we do like the rest of the carThank you
Don't know much about cars, but clicked here because I love the attractiveness of the Buick Enclave. Your review seems to be very detailed & unbiased, I will check your reviews or contact you when I'm shopping for a car.
Alex, there are several single or duo reviewers on RU-vid that I watch to get their takes. Usually I hit those looking for filler after i already know some about the vehicle. It is fantastic that this is your channel and I can trust your whole kit and caboodle.
Alex, I have only watched this one review on your channel. I am very impressed with the attention to detail and knowledge about this car, history, and competition in the segment. I am looking forward to watching more reviews.
really a lot of space on the inside, wonderful looks and drives fairly smooth, absorbing pot hole and bumps with ease. So people describe the interior as cheap but I though it was well laid out and fairly good quality. However, what I did not like was 1. the mileage: this thing is heavy, and 2. brakes: seems like it needs to be stronger. Best brakes I ever tested actually was on a dodge caravan, perhaps buick could learn a few lessons from them and brembo.
Good work. From a Canadian stand point we are interested in Ground clearance. The advantage of curb weight in bad weather should be pointed out as well. If I were to buy an SUV this would be it by a mile. Great support, quiet and... its a Buick. As a general rule, Acura's are my next favorite however, the cost of parts, and maintenance are high.
Boy - I have 2010 model and I regret it. Great size, comfortable and very quite inside . But - got 4 recalls. Got 2 transmission issues, stretched timing chain, ac failed under 50k miles. All covered by extended warranty I purchased . This suv rolls down in a slight incline (no hill assist). Lambda DI engines are notorious for carbon deposit buildup. You need oil catch can to resolve this.
Timing chains do that because you are using lower tier oil,,Amsoil,Castrol,Mobil,Molly the 4 top oil this enclave timing chain should last 375,000 easy ,,buy the best oil !
Very knowledgeable researched review...I have been watching reviews by best in business editors. Your work is equally impressive !! thumps up and Thanks :)
I wish we could but Volvo has been really odd about marketing lately and they have stripped the press fleets of cars for people to review, this is why you're not really seeing many Volvo reviews at the moment. I hope that 2014 will bring some changes to this when Volvo starts shipping the 2015 models with the new 4-cylinder engines.
When I first saw this Buick, I really thought it would be a "classic" GM RWD V8 powered SUV. It's quite surprising to see that it's a v6, but I guess that's better fuel economy. I really like the style but something's missing in this car, it wants to be premium but somehow it fails to be completely. The interior is really better than what I would expect but the weight is just not 2014 like... And you're right, generally when you want to buy German, you do not consider many other options.
we have this car and its prtty good and feels really good driving! the only problem that pisses me off is the voice command it really bad tbh and sometimes doesnt understand what you say!
great review, and I've watched many! I would highly recommend, however, informing viewers of the towing capacity of this vehicle - one of the primary criteria that I think that many have for looking at this class. Also would like to know what, if any, are the pros and cons of the 20" wheels ( often put on this vehicle by the dealer or manufacturer) - go for, or avoid, or just a matter of appearance?? It would be nice to also see a demo of the manual shift modes, is that a help when faster acceleration response is necessary in traffic, e.g.? Finally, a look at interior colors? I think the 'cocochino' and dark brown (cocoa) are really disappointing and not appealing, but that may be just me. at any rate, some attention to that would be really helpful. thanks again for your review, excellent job.
So, the MDX has a "half baked" computer, handles better, has a smaller back seat that cannot handle 6 feet people, but is the best car in the segment. So if you don't value space for 8, don't want a good multi function system, and don't want a car that can
Well if you compare it to the MDX, Q3 or 5, BMW X 1 it is MUCH QUIETER SURPRISINGLY with that double PANE glass and YES you can actually see two separate pieces (TALK ABOUT a LIBRARY feeling) EXCELLENT audio and add BOSE and you will NEVER leave your car!
Wow, 4 child seats. Congratulations! (I think). I suspect you would want to look at GM's Lambda CUVs, the Durango and the Pathfinder. A large 3rd row taht is easy to get into is going to be essential. The GM crossovers can have an 8-seat configuration and since they are wide it might even be possible to have three child seats across the middle.
Alex on Autos Thanks for the quick reply. we were actually considering Durango (2014) and it helps coming from an auto expert as yourself. Now, only if i can lean my wife toward the Hemi ... ;). Thanks again for your reply
Alex, now that you've reviewed the Durango and Enclave, which one do you feel is the better overall family hauler? I'm considering the Citadel V6 model or an Enclave. I have trouble thinking of a Buick as 'modern'.
***** The Durango is much more fun to drive. It has a higher towing capacity, slightly better fuel economy thanks to the 8 speed transmission (the Buick uses a 6), the infotainment options are newer and the interior looks more modern especially when equipped with the optional 7-inch LCD gauge cluster. The Durango also has a more robust AWD system.
Any self respecting person would never buy such a gross vehicle. You would play into the stereo type that buys these things. Arrogant soccer moms drive all over the road with these things, the arrogant middle aged person that cuts you off in traffic with their cell phone glued to their ear. Buy something that has more room, a Suburban would suit you much, much better. This thing looks like at the factory they took a minivan that was hit from 3 sides, dipped it in resin and sugar coated it for resale.
20:05: "[...] I feel like I should be driving my grandma to the crematorium." *hahahaha* Excellent review -- as usual. My wife likes our 2011 Enclave, which is pretty quiet, and we both think it looks great. But she gets just over 12 MPG inner city, and we are having some quality issues. Would I buy it again after spending 54K? Definitely not...
my mom has a 2013 enclave AWD fully loaded. great exterior design, good car for what it does but it is VERY cheap in the inside, the gas mileage is very bad (15 average), seems VERY underpowerd (since it only as 288 HP), and the buick intellink voice command system is the worst I have ever experienced.
It is not cheap on the inside. It is as nice as any European so called luxury that costs twice as much. The interior of the buick is very high end when considering the price.
My family has had the Enclave for 3 years now. We are about to turn it back to Buick as the lease is up. The interior is very far from "luxury". It is full of fake wood and plastic galore which does not make sense on a 52 thousand dollar SUV.
The TTACVideo channel has never had a financial connection with TheTruthAboutCars-dot-com although I (Alex) create content for both. All parties decided it would be best if we created more of a separation between the two entities and that's progressing slowly.
You hated too much on this vehicle. This is way better than the MDX in terms of luxury and comfiness. One to five this would be 2nd right behind the Durango Citadel V6. MDX #3.
Only problem with this car is that after the first three years when the full warranty falls away, the reliability does a nosedive. See Consumer Reports for their chart on this.
Note I am not talking about re-sale value. I mentioned reliability. Compare the Enclave with its direct competitor, The Lexus RX The difference is drastic in reliability. The enclave is a car styled for the American market. And that is what you are paying for. But you give up Toyota reliability in the bargain
Nice American haircut, welcome to the 1990s ;o) Wow, that rear cover comes off far too easily, I can see that being left behind on the motorway!! Wow, your government really doesn't give a poop about you, the amount of areas on that road you drove down that here in the uk would have a crash barrier!!
