Today I had a problem in my 2014 chevy silverado 1500, and I was checking everything online to be able to solve it, this was the best video by far and the best of all that I could fix it, just thank you
Thank you so much for this video. My 2014 quit starting so I Went through all the steps up to running a jumper wire across the terminals . It still just clicked so i' m gonna pull it and have it tested. Would have never known that trick.
@@logancliffe7017 At one parts store it tested ok. It failed at the next 2 stores I took it to. Wanted to be sure since it cost $250.00 to replace so I took it to all 3 major parts stores.
My 2015 was acting up in April 2023 and no click could be heard. Ended up being the Starter Relay. Fast forward to now Aug 2023...have been starting and using it since April without problem. Went to use it over the weekend and hear a Click, but no start. Checked everything and everything seems fine and did the one-wire trick to bypass everything and see if starter turns over and again, hear solenoid try to engage, but no crank!. Looks like a new Start is needed! Will order and replace and see how everything works, but if power upon turning the key and solenoid is trying....must be the starter. Tried the old "tap" on the starter with a screwdriver, but no dice! Time to replace. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the info. Appreciate it. Subscribed as soon as you started explaining in detail without any nonsense. Nicely laid out and explained what each fuse is responsible for. Question for you: I tried the jumper wire for the starter and only clicks so I’m assuming the starter solenoid contact is the problem? I’m gonna date myself now… I remember when on the old starters you could loosen the solenoid main post nut and push it in and give it half a turn then retighten the nut and you would have a brand new copper contact surface in the inside for the solenoid plate to contact. They get burnt out from the current arcing every time starting vehicle.
Very helpful info. My fuses and relay are good. Took starter off took it to autozone and had it tested. Everything passed. Put it back on and started just fine. You think I have a faulty starter? Truck would not start prior to me taking starter off and checking fuses.
I took the starter relay out and tapped on it plugged it back in and the truck fired right up i assume i just need to go ahead and replace that relay considering the battery and alternator are testing good and my starter is less than a year old
Your video has good info, but as far as I know, customer tried jumping vehicle and I think they shorted out the fuses next to the battery. So I had to move cables to different terminals, but still no start... any idea, but I'll check other fuses... have a great day
2014 Silverado checks out but randomly just want turn over and then if you let it sit for a a couple hours it will turn over and starts what you think ty
I know this video is a couple years old, and maybe this question was already answered. Truck battery is good, but after driving my truck, sometimes, it won’t start. It’ll go dead, I’ll test the battery and it’s at 14.6. No lights, no activity in the cluster when I turn the key. So I’ll unplug the battery, wait a couple minutes and when I reattach it I get no sparks but the battery tests fine. So then I’ll unplug the starter relays and the wire harness in the fuse box that is on the driver side. I wait a couple minutes then plug it back in. Then I plug my battery back in a and I get sparks. Only then will my truck start. Any ideas what it might be ?
If I have a bad battery ground cable , the vehicle won't start using jumper, right? Also is it necessary to have both frame and block ground in place? Thanks. 2014 Silverado
I have a 2018 Chevy Tahoe, it won't start on first crank. I wiggle the truck a little and then it starts. On cold days, it takes more cranks. It is throwing no codes. Dealer told me to make sure to clean my key... but its clean and still does this. Should I check the fuses and starter cable?
My 2014 Silverado has an intermittent starting issue. New battery and all new cables. When it does not start, I get nothing in the cab but lights. No clicking, nothing. When it will not start, I go to the battery, disconnect the positive cable, reconnect and it starts. It will start fine for a few weeks, and then it does this again. It has been going on for a few months. One mechanic said it is the terminal block there by the battery with the fuses imbedded, and cable connections. That makes no sense to me, it is just a connection block, and the fuses are not blown. Once I disconnect ant then reconnect the battery cable it starts, and runs fine, but it resets the clock, etc. Another mechanic says to change out the relay. Any ideas? Changing a relay is easy enough, but I fear it may be the ECM? Truck has 160k miles on it.
I drove my 14 to work, turned it off, went to correct my parking and it wouldn't start. Waited 5 minutes and it started right up. Got off work and it started up no problem. Got home turned it off, and it didn't start again. Does something in the relays get hot and not start the truck? Because when its been sitting it starts right up, but when it's warm it doesn't. Could it be a bad starter relay, or a bad starter?
I’m have a 2009 that got a transmission over a year ago and the relay was it installed. I cannot tell what gear I’m in and the rear camera does not work. Help
I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado I have a problem change the fuel pump engine turns over but it won't start what do I do I checked all the fuses all good engine is not getting any Spark
I have an 2007.5 Duramax and don’t have the indicator light under park or neutral or any of them. What is it when that happens? You said that’s the first thing I look for but didn’t say what to do if u don’t have that. Thanks!
you know my fuses is shot both sides inside the cab driver side and under hood ,now why you think the both is shot i sent to the mecanic but he have no idea, thanks
I put starter I put fuel pump new battery spent alot money gonna try this still turns off on me it'll start within an hour or two like nothing work fine for a week then back to not turning on ...
I got a 2014 I replaced the transmission and then the connector got messed up so I also spliced in a new plug and it won't crank, and doesn't show it to be in any gear and my scanner won't communicate with the ecm but so far all my fuses are good
Hi... that was a good video, I'll check what you said to check. But the customer tried jumping vehicle n shorted out one of the fuses near the battery. So I switched over to different terminal but still no start... any idea what it might be? Thanks have a great day
