Hello and welcome to Saabkyle04! RU-vid's largest collection of automotive variety! In today's video, we'll take an up close and personal, in depth look at the 2014 Chevrolet SS.

Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

kyle de man HJ for the win! I've got a HJ deluxe 253, great car! still going strong! you may have read about another HJ or HX doing over 1mil kms and he claims its the only one to have done so, i call bullshit on that! mine has done 1mil kms and hasn't required any replacement parts. the other guy has replaced the gearbox 3 times and has gone through some engines as well. just thought you would like to know? This is proof that V8's last longer lol.

The 2014 Chevy SS is a powerful sports sedan that drives like a dream. It's basically a four-door Corvette with an LS3 engine that produces 415 hp, getting you to 60 mph in under five seconds. The drive train gets the power to the road instantly, with no time wasted on burnout. And the handling is astounding. You can take a sharp curve at pretty much any speed you like. The car just grips the road and rolls through it with ease. The technology inside the car is equally exciting. This Chevy SS is just flat-out fun to drive, whether you're pushing it to its limits, or just cruising to work. This is one of the two best cars I've ever had. The other is the earlier version, the Pontiac G8 GXP.

i just bought this car last week and can honestly say the ONLY downside is the fuel economy, but only because the sound of the engine in high revs is soooooo fucking nice its kinda hard for any car lover to not appreciate it and stomp on the gas, haha. best investment ever. the torque is just unreal in this car

In california gas is around $3.90 -$4.15 per gallon, which is ridiculous!!!!! 20 gallon tank translates to $70-75 for a full tank. highway average is usually 75mph+ usually 80. I dont even have 500 miles on it yet but i already know im keeping this car till i die.

ohh i got the 2015 not 2014, almost the same but GM magnetic ride control is installed which is pretty cool and nice touch for stiiffer suspension modes. i dont understad why general motors DIDN'T make the seats all leather as apposed to half suede and half leather

This is a vf holden commodore (chevy ss) and the ve holden commodore was the g8 pontiac so both this chevy ss and the pontiac g8 are both holden commodores and they are rwd and do come in manuals aswell

CPBlackopsMW3 More horsepower doesn't necessarily mean it's faster. The new Caprice PPV has around 400 hp, while the Taraus PPV EcoBoost has around 330 hp. Meanwhile, the Taraus is faster than the Caprice. The EcoBoost has 2 turbos and is AWD, and the Caprice is naturally aspirated and only RWD. HP doesn't always mean faster.

***** Don't get me wrong the car looks great inside and out and GM has made HUGE strides in improving their products. It's just that I'm not a fan of the shiny trim pieces because it looks like, and probably is, cheap plastic. I think the Pontiac G8 was a much better looking car.

I had a 2015 SS with the spare and moon roof. I owned it for 9 months. It was my daily car and absolutely loved it until the second/third month after someone hit me. After that the magic faded knowing it’s not a clean car fax and I had to sell it.(driving 80 miles one way to work in the beast wasn’t going to happen) If you have a chance to buy one, don’t pass it up. It’s a great vehicle.

The 2015 SS now has a 6-speed manual as a no-cost option. Finally! It also has the Magnetic Ride Control suspension as standard.

Devin Kenney the Camaro rides on the same platform as the VE Commodore/Pontiac G8, VF Commodore/SS, WM/WN Caprice/Caprice PPV due to it being engineered by Holden themselves so the mechanics would be compatible with the Camaro due to being built on the Zeta platform.

So many people in the comments apparently don't understand that GM estimates they will only sell about 3000. Therefore they don't want to waste money giving it extra powertrains if it fails. I read somewhere that if it does sell more then 3000 they will add more power trains and possibly a manual.

As per usual. Excellent in depth look Kyle. One thing I'd like to clarify for future reference is the "UTE'' is actually what Aussies call the car/truck hybrid (ie El Camino, Ford Ranchero, Brat, etc). It's pronounced "yoot" . Took me a minute to get that until I worked with a Australian who kept tossing it out there until I eventually said "The hell is a 'ute' ''. lmao!

It has the same engine, but the platform (Zeta chassis) has been upgraded and lost weight. The new VF/SS pretty much feels like a different car compared to the Pontiac G8/GXP. The VF/SS is much better quality in pretty much all aspects compared to the GXP, not that it is a bad car but Holden has moved on and is making better products.

Eric Glueckert It may have a manual transmission but its what? Nearly 5 years old now and well out of warranty. Doesn't have as nice interior and a bit slower. I think the GXP doesn't look as good either but looks are subjective.

Kyle, great walk around as usual. The chevy ss is great sleeper car. Hennessy and other after market companies already have kits and mods that push this beast into the 500hp easy. When you read the performance info. This car can take on Lexus ISF, Ford SHO and Dodge Charger RT in real world freeway/highway (cough) driving. And that's before tuning. For the comment on cheap interior, the interior feels very premium compared to two of the cars i mention above. And maybe the lexus as well, only due to the slightly outdated interior design of the ISF. Love this car. It's a real man car. 2015 Only comes one way with three options. In 2014, the car came with two options. No packages. We men are simple creatures and this car reflects that.

***** Are you talking about the HFV6? I was talking about the LS V8. I don't think GM is going to sell the V6 in the US. Technically, there is no Holden engine or Chevy engine anyway. It's all GM Power Train these days. They say "Chevy small block" for nostalgia.

Yeap I can relate to it 100%, but manual transmissions are still being sort after here in Aus, but I would agree its on the decline. I bought a 2012 Jeep wrangler CRD manual. Found out the new 2016 dont offer the manual anymore and just Auto

People don't seem to realize that some of us want a car with practicality and luxury while still being able to be fun. This car is great and I'm happy that GM decided to bring back the 4 door muscle car.

Strange that. The original Aussie models(Holden) come with a 6 speed manual or auto as well as an auto LPG.

I've been waiting for this. By the way, a good follow up video would be the new Caprice. It had an SS dash with a Column mounted shifter.

Pretty nice. I really wish they would redesign that ugly old beige-gold badge though. At least make it smaller. It looks pretty tacky.

Awesome review, very detailed. The only thing missing was a track test. Thank you so much for showing the 90s impala. Its still a much desired, last of muscle car era car. I still think they should've made an ss impala. And what is up with the incomplete rear end on these chevy? Again great job. Keep'em coming.
