I just had this nightmare. I fixed the thermostat and got air in my system. I had to flush the radiator and on passenger side top of radiator there is a plug/ screw open that. Add coolant slowly until coolant leaks thru radiator screw back plug. Turn on car and watch level. I also got a new reservoir. And it's good to go

I'm very happy for you. It's very frustrating but for sure the tank reservoir is the culprit. Believe it or not. Thanks for the feedback

Dude Thank You!! I have same issue in my car but it’s NOT this make nor model.. Lol before even watching this video, I went and purchased a brand new reservoir tank because mine look like crap and the cap was loose. I’ll be installing it tomorrow morning and hopefully that fixes my problem

Hope that solves your issue. In my channel I have more related videos about why the Chevy Cruze overheats. Example: corroded low speed cooling fan connector. Check it out.

We just bought a 2013 Chevy Cruze with the same engine and it started overheating the day we got it and we replaced the thermostat housing and then it started smoking out the engine and found out it has a blown head gasket. $4,000 down the drain because we can't find a mechanic within a hundred miles that will do head gaskets anymore
@HDGARAGE
@HDGARAGE 4 месяца назад
What? Really!! Where are you located?
@philjerome9795
@philjerome9795 4 месяца назад
You might not want to go for a head gasket replacement. There is a good chance that the engine is toast. A good, honest shop should be able to evaluate the damage, but you will probably have to pay a diagnostic fee.

My 2016 started overheating a week after I got it. Warranty paid about half of head gasket work.
@HDGARAGE
@HDGARAGE 4 месяца назад
@@taylorbible in my experience most Chevy Cruze that I have worked on ended up being the thermostat, cooling fan, coolant reservoir or water pump. It's necessary to eliminate all those possibilities before condemning the head gasket.

I'm having the same issue right now with my 2014 cruze it's frustrating, so to change the coolant tank is the best option.

In my case that fixed the coolant overflow even with the cap on. I replaced it with a new reservoir tank and cap.

Check this other video it has information about a corroded cooling fan conector. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p7FKbrUQmko.htmlsi=0A9GSaknO7y-1tF3

Same issue boiling in reservoir. In instrumental panel is normal temp and radiator fan not working. I replaced electronic thermostat assembly with engine coolant temperature sensor, inlet outlet hose and radiator assembly but still the problem.

If your low cooling fan speed is not working it will cause boiling at the reservoir tank
@portagepete1
@portagepete1 Месяц назад
Your head is already warped when the engine warms up the heat pulls the center of the head up just enough to let the compression into the cooling system.

Thanks for your advice. End up being the coolant reservoir tank that is the problem. Can you believe it? It's unbelievable .

Do you have footage of the bubbling with the old expansion bottle and cap? I have been trying to fix a 2013 Cruze 1.6 for the past 2 months, same issues like you. Bubbling water but intermittently. 3 head gaskets later, same issue. Replaced many cooling pipes, multiple radiator flushes, same problem.

Old coolant reservoir with cap on will spill from the relief valve. Does your low coolant fan speed work? There is a video on my channel about a corroded low speed wire.

@@HDGARAGE did not have a code for the low speed fan, our car is a 1.6 with a single central fan, believe yours may have 2. Same symptoms we had, possible over heated car,changed water pump, nochange. Changed the head gasket, same issue, removed the head and sent for skimming and pressure testing, all ok. Same issue after install but less bubbling. Removed head, sent to another shop for skimming and pressure testing, said not much material was needed to be removed, pressure test good. Bubbles intermittently now but 1 out of 2 times at idle it bubbles. I have not smelt the bubble gas but good point to verify exhaust gas. Will give the expansion tank and cap a try, fingers crossed it works otherwise have to let the car go at a loss. Just a tip that I came across, the plastic downward part where the overflow is on the expansion bottle is supposedly removable, you can fit on the new bottle. This prevents coolant splasing out into the vent for the interior fan assembly where some folks hear water swishing in the car.

@@dramduth5311 mine had one fan assembly, the fan has a resistor at the fan plastic assembly check that. Make Sure to add coolant with the vehicle off and relieve the air from the top of the radiator right Corner until coolant comes out only. Also after the vehicle reaches normal operating temperature do the same procedure, be careful not to burn yourself. Remember all Chevy Cruze will spill coolant of the reservoir tank cap off. Put the tank cap on. Also if your top radiator hose is hot and the bottom is cold after reaching normal operating temperature two things can be happening. 1 clogged radiator 2 thermostat heating element is melted at the thermostat. The thermostat is controlled by the pcm.

@@HDGARAGEgot the replacement bottle and cap today, wish us luck. Will be installing tomorrow! Thanks for the info of the fan assembly and resistor, will keep an eye out for this. We normally bled the radiator with the 13 mm plastic nut on the top corner, did not try bleeding after it comes to temperature. Will try...

My 2013 Chevy Cruze says AC off due to high temp and my car overheated. When I checked the small rad hose was tore and I replaced it and didn’t work. I already replaced the water outlet which is fine. And the next day I filled it with coolant and drove 30 mins to get home and it didn’t over heat but when I got home the reservoir had barley any coolant and I didn’t see any leaks ? I’m not sure if it’s a blown gasket or i need to replace the thermostat

Check this other video, it is at my channel. In that video the faulty part was the water pump. Remove the serpentine belt and spin the water pump by hand if you hear bearing noise then that can cause the coolant not to flow correctly. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lpcJrlxv-bQ.htmlsi=gyy-w5emhkrgy5te
