For anyone who may have ran into this problem I had this happen I called the dealer and they said last year it was reprogrammed for the power steering loss so I went on a limb and listened to my buddy and cleaned the main ground under driver side door by the cab mount near floor pan and so far hasn't happened again so I hope this may help someone else !
The issue is the positive cable connection to the battery i believe is brass. I had the same issue my teuck turned off 2 times on freeway in heavy traffic. I finally fiund the issue the positive battery connection was replaced with a lead one and no issues since. 👍
Its eazy fix had the same issue with my 2007 gm is using the positive lead thats made out of brass. My truck did the same thing for about a year now its fixed by swaping the positive lead you will need to cut wires but that fixed my issue. 6months and that stoped as soon as swaped the cable lead
I just had the same problem. I opened the hood and notice that the connector on the positive side of the battery was very hot I left open for a bit to cool down and it came back on. This Is the second time this is happening. I get a thought handling in the wheel and when I park the car shuts off. I searched for that cable in a different material like the previews comment but can only oem. Is there a alternative??
Ok guys out of curiosity I went to Google and typed in 2014 Chevy Silverado (my truck) recall and this came up, I will be making an appointment asap. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. The vehicles may have a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist, especially during low-speed turning maneuvers. GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. I hope this helps 🙏.
Ron - I have a 2014 Silverado and I took my truck in for that recall about 6 months ago. I was hoping this was the solution but it's not. My truck continues to randomly shut down. I've googled and it seems I'm not the only one with this issue after the recall.
Same problem here with 2014 Chevy Silverado. Took it to dealership and they can’t find a problem. Tired of trying and spending money on no fix. If I step on brakes and truck shuts off my stealing is locked and at this point just praying it will go strait to bushes and not at some other vehicle. Tapping after shot off and Zenax are helping just temporary. 😩😭
Honestly i have a 14 sierra 152k on it i paid 43 k for it if i were you id stay away from gm all of us that have these should not have to do all this bs gm wont do anything but i might put mine up for sale for 20 k im losing more than half but i need a truck not a problem and gm is a big problem
This is happening right now to wife’s 2015 LTZ Tahoe, driving me crazy !! Also it worries me because it’s so unsafe Chevy should do something about this!!
GM still hasn't fixed these electrical issues even for that year..Disappointing! Ive had electrical issues on my 2007 Silverado crew cab NBS. Changed the battery cables. Was all good for about 6months.. Today my truck died on me. Lost electrical power for a few seconds... Luckily i was at a stoping point.. Put it in park and the truck started again.. Scary shit to have this happen on the road.
@@ohChillyy No steering wheel lock up on mine. I ended up replacing the 175amp mega fuze and haven't had electrical hiccups since. I didn't think that was the issue bcause i had already replaced it prior. But when i inspected it, it had some discoloration and i decided to switch it with a new to see what happens. Looks like it worked. I got the fuse at autozone. Recommend replacing both cables and the megafuze.
Any updates on this? Keeps happening to my step fathers 2014, it's at the ship I work at now but with no leads it's hard to pin point the problem, especially because we cannot duplicate it, any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Remove, clean and replace ground bolt, back and up at passenger front tire. Did this the other day by info on another post. So far so good. Other one is under dash panel at windshield drivers side. Apparently the ground bolt is obstructed by sound insulation material which needs to be cut out. That’s plan b
@@allentinaz164 I have cleaned the grounding points you are referring to on the frame, 4 days later came back on the tow truck. Finally decided going to check out the grounding points behind the dash (I strongly urge you do as well) what I found was insulating matting/foam material in between the nut and ground wire on the grounding stud on the driver side. Others talk about just "peel the material back away from the grounding point and you're all set" but I strongly urge you and anyone else having this issue to take the time and take the 10mm nut off the ground, because I was shocked what I found. I cleaned the nut, ground and stud very well, and cut away a decent amount of material from the area. Also, did the same on the passenger side. I also want to note that the nut was actually loose on the driver side where I found the foam insulation pinched in between. It has been 5 days now and no issues. I will report back if theres any issues but I really think I got it after this. Fingers crossed and hope this helps!
@@chrised1115 it did come back. I decided to pull the filler panel at the dash and look at that bolt on the drivers side. I couldn’t see anything under the bolt nor could I get to it easily. What I found was a black plastic cap on the bolt, removed it. I also cleared some wires that was on top of that bolt. I figured that wasn’t the problem and put everything back together. Been about little over a week and all issues went away except for the annoying stabilitrac warning that comes on every once in a while. I squeeze the trailer brake buttons and let it snap back, that seems to shut it the f up for quite a while lol. Still crossing fingers. Oh and I bought a new neg battery cable for plan y lol, in case the power comes back to haunt me, so far things are running smoothly.
I am having the same issue with my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and I have been doing the same thing as you but it still shuts off. have you figured out how to resolve it from it not shutting of anymore?
Yeah, so far I have had the negative battery cable replaced, a new battery, and ground wires replaced. It still shut off. I have just recently got my truck back from the shop after having the entire fuse box replaced and the entire battery and cable systems replace (again). The problem has not presented itself yet but last time it took around a month for it to do so and it is random. I will come back and update if it happens again.
Chandler Freeman- my brother is having the same problem with his 2014 v-6 Silverado the dealer said it’s the battery after charging 120$ for a simple diagnostic 😒 we doubt it’s the battery, let’s here back from you after you did all that to your truck to solve the issue.
