In a recent video • 2014 - Current GMC / C... I diagnosed a GMC Yukon for having a hard brake pedal making it very difficult for the owner to stop the car and actually causing her to hit a few other vehicles. In this video we confirm the diagnosis and repair. -Enjoy!

GM engineers: let's put a belt driven vacuum pump that will assist the brakes, what could go wrong?
@CheezyDee
@CheezyDee 5 лет назад
And the last sane GM engineer will say, "Why? What happened to Hydroboost, that's a pretty reliable sys..." and before he can finish the sentence the other engineers shoot him with a tranquilizer dart and ship him to Siberia.
@roadkill5333
@roadkill5333 5 лет назад
I think what the GM engineer should have done was make a generic electric module, hide it under the dash, call it generic but charge twice as much for a replacement as the original cost of the vehicle, and make it where no one can replace it without a hand written note from Major League Baseball! Or, a power module, that is totally integrated, that supplies power to everything, and need to be replaced every time a fuse blows, and then need two hand written notes from Major League Baseball, to replace it! Ooooh, I know, they should design a manual cooling fan, that you need a 40 pound 4.25 inch wrench to loosen up. Let's just hope the government comes along soon, and makes everyone put a tire inflation system in every car, that requires a masters degree in extra-terrestrial reproductive systems, and a bachelors degree in South Pacific micro organism marital habits,(bachelor, marital habits, think about it) to be able to inflate the tires!! Perhaps we need one of those special passenger door lock modules, that no one can prove exists, yet causes the engine to not start, and makes it look like your neighbors wife is the problem!! I remember when the power steering pump was engine driven, and the power brakes ran off of vacuum that the engine already made!! At least we get 3 mpg more than we did 30 years ago!! Coincidentally, we pay 30 times more for the cars, than we did 3 years ago! But, at least we can look at Facebook instead of where we are going, now! I was sick to death of always having to steer and brake and pay attention to my driving!

Oil deflector at 2:00 is actually the way you protect reed valves from fatiguing, breaking off at the root and then of course since they are no longer there to function, from failing to function. It's a common thing to see those curved backing plates on reed valves, if you've seen more than maybe three 2 stroke motorcycles. To NOT have them is old school and I've dated myself again.

Once, mon ami, I solved the neighbour's 'hard-brake-pedal' by discovering that both front hydraulic brake hoses had 'closed-up' (the inside diameter had shrunk), His son admitted to having added ATF, thinking that it was a grande replacement for braking fluid . Schmuck ! The red colour, in the reservoir WAS a hint. Of course all the rubber-bits required replacement too.

Great video on the (GM Recall about the air pump failure), have you done any other GM trucks, or SUV's produced after the 2014 year models, let me be more specific, anything regarding the 5.3/6.2 Ecotec engines having a rough idle, or engine shutter in "drive" mode and stopped for a red light or stop sign and sitting for more than 30 seconds? GM issued a bulletin about this occurrence, and recommend a shim be applied to the Motor mounts, or replaced if the vibrations continue to occur. I would love to see you do a video about this issue, and see how you would diagnose and fix the problem. Thanks in advance....
