I’ve been dealing with this vehicle for a while and this is one of the most difficult vehicles to diagnose since there is not much information on the coolant level switch. I’m glad I was able to fix it and found the real solution for it. I hope you guys like it

Thank you for properly explaining the diagnosis! One of the better RU-vid channels out there! VERY UNDERRATED! You earned a like and a sub from a fellow technician and support your work sir, and understand your frustration but I can appreciate a technician who will actually diagnose a problem and not just throw parts at it! Well done!

Thanks, great video. I got 2018 1.5 fusión se ecoboost turbo . At 100C/ 230 F the engine coolant overheat lights up for a few seconds then drops . It did this a few times so I was driving it to mechanic when I started going uphill and the same warning light came on again. This time I lost power and engine warning light came on. The code was the p1299. That’s it. Should I start by replacing the cylinder Temp. Sensor first or check the wires to the ecm.
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 13 дней назад
first check for coolant level and then try the temp sensor

Thanks for your video. Have you worked in one that consume coolant but there's no leak outside the engine?
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 Год назад
not yet! check the radiator cap or the radiator itself. lots of times they leak very slowly and can't even see it. usually at high rmps, if its consuming coolant you should have a sweet smell coming from the tail pipe.
@luisgonzalez3057
@luisgonzalez3057 Год назад
@@antonioaguirre6166 Thanks I guess I will have to sniff the tail pipe. I did saw tiny bubbles on exhaust manifold
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 Год назад
@@luisgonzalez3057 that can be signs of head gasket issue. That’s why you don’t see it on the floor. It evaporates I would just take it to a well known shop and have them diagnose it. If you don’t like the diagnostic or it’s too much, you can just pay the fee but that way you are not guessing or replacing random parts

I watched both your videos and this is my issue. I can’t afford to buy the coolant level sensor at the moment. Could I just hook the male and female end of the power steering and just bypass the coolant level sensor. Do you think my car would run without coolant level sensor hooked up for a couple weeks till I can get part?
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 9 месяцев назад
It won’t work
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 9 месяцев назад
I needs the sensor signal in order to read the coolant level. Otherwise it thinks it’s out of coolant and it will go into limping mode

Hi there, this system is on my fiesta st180 2013 model. But the fuse that you check at the start is different on my car so I’m just wondering what that fuse does on your car? Is it a Powertrain module fuse or something?
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 7 месяцев назад
fuse #40 5amp controls the power steering control module (PSCM), and coolant level sensor. When the p1299 comes up is to let you know that the coolant level is very low, and it will disable the car at least on the ford escape. this is done by the powertrain control module to prevent any overheating and prevent any damage to the engine. The TSB shows that these engines tend to leak oil from the valve cover, and it leaks down onto the turbo. overheating the engine will overheat the turbo causing the oil to catch on fire. that is why ford added this system to prevent this to happen.
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 7 месяцев назад
it is not a powertrain module fuse; however, it will trigger the PCM and will disable the car. I hope this information helps you, thank you for watching, like share and subscribe it helps the channel.

I don't think so, this system was added after the car was build, there is a TSB on it. there is really not much information about it. that's why you cannot get diagrams about it to nay info.

I have a different problem. The car on idle throttle doesn’t heat. While driving a few kms the temp rises. Stop for a few mins temp goes down .. .. I’ve noticed some bubbles coming up the coolant tank. Can you advise?
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 3 месяца назад
sounds like you have a blown head gasket. any time you see bubbles coming out of coolant tank that mean the pressures from the combustion chamber is scaping into the coolant system
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 3 месяца назад
you going to need to replace the head gasket or replace the engine. if you decide to replace the head gasket, make sure that you take the cylinder head to the machine shop and the cylinder block is not warped.

follow the wires, next to the battery is the coolant level sensor module. make sure those connectors are plugged in right. one end runs to the power steering, the other runs to the coolant sensor level and the other end runs to the wiring harness.

I checked the wires from cylinder temp sensor to ground and pcm it was all good now all have to do is check wires from coolent level sensor to pcm and I also took apart the sensor and it was clogged I cleaned it out on Friday and put back Monday I’m going to see if it throws a code again and also check the level sensor you took out if it’s clogged too

Can the power steering and coolant level sensor module connectors be backwards?
@antonioaguirre6166
@antonioaguirre6166 Год назад
@@anthonypeck3812 I don’t think so. Because one is male and the other one is female. You can connect the power steering plug directly to the computer. And leave the coolant level sensor out.
