This footage was intended to become a rear shock removal/replacement, but I'm unable to remove the original shocks without destroying them, and mine are fine, so that video will have to wait for another day, and you get a spring video instead. The steps here are also similiar, if not the same, for the 3rd gen Mazda3 and the CX5.

Oh man, I'm actually getting excited thinking about changing mine after watching your video. It looks actually so easy! And it'll save me $400+ lol

3rd or 4th video I'm watching for the Mazda and yours is the easiest to follow.

I just had to do this , and the 5 mil bolt on the sway bar link wasn't in good shape and wouldn't hold to undo the nut. However, after the wishbone bolt was removed, it was very easy to bend it down and remove the springs without the need to remove the link. So, in the end it was just one bolt !

Thank you! I thought I was going to have to remove the rear exhaust. But seeing how easy it was for you, I figured something else was wrong . Turns out the middle resonator pipe was squeezed by the bay lift. now if I could only figure out what happened over the course of the past 11 years that made these spring insulator seats go missing….

Nicely done! I thought I was going to need a spring compressor. You just saved me a bunch of unnecessary work. Thank you!

Any chance youd do the shocks. The threaded bolt is an absolute nightmare to loosen ir to slide the shock eye out of...❤❤❤

What is the 5 mil hex for?

Did you torque the sway bar link nut to a specific number? Or just hand tight with a big ol wrench?
@416diy

That one I did not torque, just got it nice and tight. I believe the official spec is somewhere around 35-40 lbs.

Did you replace it with an OEM spring or an aftermarket?
@416diy

I didn't replace it, just used the same spring for the video.

I have a 2014 I have a 2014 Mazda 6 and it has nowhere near the amount of rust yours has . I assume you live in a snowy area.

74000 kms (46000 miles) on it, and it's been rustproofed. Salt is a cruel bitch.
