What a lovely review. If it was on national television, then Guzzi couldn't make enough of them. Well done. From a guzzi owner of 34years, slightly biased.

My Grandfather had a Guzzi for over 40 years. He lived in Hungary and bought it for what converted to about two weeks salary at the time. He said it was in beat up condition and bought it from a soldier returning home after the end of WWII. He purchased parts and rebuilt it for another $100. This was probably a hell of a lot of money at the time, but well worth it. I remember the black bike in the work garage, under a greasy, dusty tarp. He'd use it to go hunt deer even though it was illegal to hunt after WWII. Take THAT bitches !

Great review and a very cool bike indeed. I really dig the looks, sound, and numbered fly-screen on this Moto Guzzi. A lot of grunty style with the V7 too.

Looks way better with the mirrors off - as it appeared in several scenes of this review. A cool set a Oberons or Napoleons would suit it just fine. Great machine...my only reservation is that it would become 'not enough bike' quite quickly.

Beautiful bike. Although I've never ridden a V7, I do own an SP1000 and it's a great bike. But comparing the HP numbers between the V7 and the nearest competition, the thruxton, the Guzzi is way down, by a large amount. Is Guzzi going to do something about that?

Picking mine up tomorrow...2016 model with ABS and 5 speed. Not after power but just nice mid range. From the sound of it and looks position wise it seems very similar to my 84 Ducati 650 Pantah. Not a huge amount of grunt but good mid range power to weight. I am 5'11" and expect to wrap round the tank, almost like making love to a bike. It is not the bike to take racing but more Sunday cruise round some twisty roads. I reckon it is the sexiest looking bike on the market at the moment.

Is it possible to replace the clip-on's with the regular V7 stone handlebars for a more upright position? Just curious as it looks like it could be tiring for long distances leaning forward. Nice review, thank you for sharing!
@JonQuirkUK
@JonQuirkUK 10 лет назад
Thanks for watching, *****. I shouldn't see how that would be a problem as they're only clip-ons so easy to replace. That said, give it a ride first as I didn't find the riding position to be as aggressive on the wrists as it looks. Good luck!

They're not the longest continually-produced motorcycle marque in the world. They ARE the longest running company in Europe, from founding in 1921. Royal Enfield started out in 1901 and have been in production every year since then to this day -- but since the early 70s only from India. Harley started in 1903 and have also never missed a year.
@motopete4774
@motopete4774 8 лет назад
+Jon Low The Enfield Manufacturing Company Ltd commenced operations in 1891, adding "Royal" in 1893. Their first motorised bicycle was produced in 1901. The company was dissolved in 1971, with the remaining tooling and equipment of the Redditch works auctioned off. The Indian connection was an earlier (1955) partnership formed with Madras Motors to created Enfield India. It was not until Enfield India entered into a strategic alliance with the Eicher Group that the "Royal" name was reclaimed. They are not, and never have been, the same company. www.team-bhp.com/forum/attachments/motorbikes/987982d1347982300-can-someone-help-me-royal-enfield-bullets-service-manual-picture-282.jpg It is also worthy to note that every single Moto Guzzi ever created was manufactured at the same Mandello del Lario site, something no other long running motorcycling company can claim.
@PaulKasner
@PaulKasner 8 лет назад
The various ownerships and relocations of the manufacturing plants are quite immaterial to the history of the marque. Triumph was in Coventry, then Meriden then Devon and now Hinckley as well as Thailand, under various ownership configurations. Yet it's still all Triumph. Enfield ditto -- from Redditch to Bradford and Madras.
@motopete4774
@motopete4774 8 лет назад
+Jon Low The Triumph analogy is not apt for the simple fact that Royal Enfield and Enfield of India initially co-existed as two separate companies. For ~20 years there were no "Royal Enfields" because Enfield of India did not purchase the former's naming rights until the 90's. Close, but no cigar.
@PaulKasner
@PaulKasner 8 лет назад
+Moto Pete It matters as little as what it does that Triumph was originally German (and had a factory in Germany in the pre-war days), and the Indian Bullet 350 and 500s were just continuing the identical lineage RE made in Redditch, as they did when the Bullet was ex-catalogue new in both countries for the 1950s and 1960s. Dropping off the Royal epithet for a while is no more significant than the new Triumph logo no longer having the swoop of the letter R curl around to from the crossbar of the H, or a Moto Guzzi from the customiser Arturo Magni workshop being rebadged a Magni Guzzi (like an Egli-Vincent or a Rickman Metisse).

Hey, if the V-7 is the best-selling model in the M-G line-up, why don't they expand the offering with a 900 model? And then a V-11 model? Remember the Bol D'or? God, what a beautiful bike that was!

Anyone an opinion about this version compared to the new model III? The chassis is different and there for the engine has a more 180 degree angle. Instead of this version were the engine is slightly tilted backwards.

mikehsumusic I've ridden the V7 special and I can tell you it's a very small and narrow bike (at least in comparison to my kawasaki zx6). It reminded me of the narrowness of my old ninja 250. I went in expecting to like the Thruxton more, and the V7 definitely stole the show. The Guzzi isn't as fast, the shifter isn't as polished, and the brakes are worse (in my opinion anyway), but it made me laugh the whole ride. It's got lots of character, and just as Jon said, you just feel special riding it.

48 HP in a 750 is behind the times. They need to tune that to at least 60 to still be weak against comparables. It is a beautiful bike, however.

There is one of these for sale near me for $7k with 1600 miles on it. Glad I watched this video, cause this POS is all show and no go. The funniest part is the foot pegs. The pegs are further back so you get your shins off the stupid V block. Thanks for posting you saved me money and shin burns.
