no error codes, no plastic outer tub, no hanging suspension. just basic mechanical control, no electronics, unlike our Samsung but we are going to sell it on craigslist and buy a knob control top load speed queen. the technician came to look at our Samsung and said that the reason the washer will not agitate during the wash cycle is because the shocks need to be replaced
This is a perfect turnover rate for this size load. I load my machine loosely to the top of the SS drum and get good turnover. Lots of sloshing with a load of jeans. Speed Queen seems to use the best of other washers. The agitator has the undulated design of the old Whirlpool surgilator agitators while having 4 vanes like the old Maytag power fins and the rhythmic sounds of a belt drive washer. Actually soothing to hear in operation.
It certainly does do the job. I think the main difference with this compared to the surgilator and power fin is that these have vertical ones that stick out more, and it makes a huge difference.
Sharkie626 This is a machine that in no way shape or form needs a dual action agitator. That flex vane agitator is perfectly suited to the size of the tub. I have loaded my machine to the gills and still get good turnover. Not overloaded, but filled to the top of the ss tub. Happy washing !
Thank you so much for this video.. I am buying my first home soon and have been stressing out over the thought of buying one of those new HE machines.. I will buy this one! unless of course the seller wants to leave a non HE machine behind.
@BroccoliBeefed what do you mean glam it up ? They are utilitarian devices with a specific purpose. This machine looks way better than anything on the floor at Lowes, Home Depot or any other big box store.
I don't know if I'm a Tree Hugger but I'm in California and we have been in a draught for years and the colorado river and Lake Meed are at the lowest levels in recorded history. Nasa also has taken images of the ground water being depleted as we compensate by pumping it out. The ground water takes thousands of years to replenish. So is it bad on my part to be concerned with water use in my part of the country?
Simply one word; Awesome! Also during agitation, I do notice a bit of a woo-woo deal going there! :D Thanks for filming this, I had been looking forward to this ever since you first 'announced' it! :)
You can really tell this machine was put through its paces with 2 kids. Barely a year and a half into service and the index was just gone. Yours took what, like 2 1/2, 3 years.
+LGwasherFan Next year (2017) Speed Queen may have to alter these washers because of water-saver regulations from Obama's Democrat Party! I'd buy one of these, now!!
I wonder how Speed Queen gets around government mandates on water usage? Not complaining. It's good to know if I want a washer that fills up a full tub of water and agitates in the normal way, I can still get one.
Nowadays they mange to meet the mandates by including a cycle called Normal Eco. But that is completely optional. They still have other normal cycles that completely make it a normal machine.
yeah I know. You can also purchase them online directly from Alliance Laundry Systems who now owns them. I was always partial to the McGraw-Edison models.
I have a 2015 speed queen top loader and the belt burned out the pump and broke. What would that happen? I try to keep loads under size. I have washed a small single size comforter in it a couple of times, but they advertise that you can do that. The repair man said to never put a comforter in it. He looked in the pump and there was no blockage and can't explain why it did what it did. Any ideas?
I can tell you, I prefer these to front load washers. I have posted this comment before but I have light/white Duvet's and my dog has always slept at the foot of the bed. He drools etc. and is a bully breed so has loose lips. The Speed Queen top load washers my apartment complex used to have got EVERYTHING out even on a cold wash. The Front load...good luck... My white and light Duvets are ruined.
The speed queen dealer called me and said $839 for the washer and the same for the dryer. This is for the mechanical set not the digital set. Thoughts???
craigsclocks it is well worth the money, i lucked out and found 2 SQ dealers in my area, and the one was selling for a $100 less for the set, i buy mine in march
I am planning to get the speed queen. There is 3 models, should I get the old fashion dial control or the lid light press one? Does the Speed Queen shakes or vibrates badly during final spin dry ?
One benefit of the electronic one has it that it fills all the way to the top. The mechanical one COULD do that as well, but you will need to adjust a screw on the water level switch. (vids here will show you how) It's up to you. You can go either or. Both honestly do a great job. The vibrations are very little with this machine!
True. But when your washer resides in a basement where the lighting isnt the best it comes in handy. Many of us still stick our laundry equipment in the basement because we have older homes.
Guys I need help. Can anyone tell me if Speed Queen made a large capacity version of the wavy solid fin agitator ? I want to switch my flexvane out and try that. My washer is an alliance made machine I purchased in 2013.
Sharkie626 I took the agitator ( Fabric softener dispenser)top off and put the laundry detergent down inside. I then put the fabric softener in the dispenser half n half water and softener. I don't know why i wanted to give this a whirl but i did and it worked like a dream. This is the best washer dryer set I've ever had. Thanks speed queen
How were you able to keep the lid open and have it fill? I have this model and have been trying to figure out how to do this and have the water level higher. Thanks! ~Lisa
If you look very carefully under the control panel, on the back of the machine, you will see a metal tab move up and down depending if the lid is open or closed. All you have to do is, find something that will prevent that metal tab from raising when you open the lid. Something like a clothes pin on it, or a folded piece of cardboard works great!
A washer that actually cleans your clothes, doesn't explode, give circuitry errors, have spider brackets that self destruct or a tub that bangs against the cabinet, imagine that! Nice machines, but for the home market SQ seriously needs to glam it up. Their machines have never been aesthetic.
BroccoliBeefed too funny ive always thought the same thing about the older style speed queens, they were so ugly back in the day, the newer ones at least look nice now, if only they would bring back the maytag style of the 60s and early 70s
If I get a new washing machine I would definitely prefer a Speed Queen top load washer with the mechanical controls. I find most of the HE washers with electronic controls a piece of shit.
Hell yes! Who sell this? I don't wan't any type of machine ,where I can't see what's going on! Get locked out of something I've paid for and need a computer expert/engineer to repair! "Let the government tax the rich corporations for excessive water use! "They are the most wasteful of Water!
