Now THIS is Jazz of the highest level. Absolute Heaven. The fantastic pianist, who I believe to have a degree in computer engineering, has been blind since he was 10. ENJOY!
The whole band: Listen. Excellent example of how to swing. Swinging so tight, no sloppy playing here. Count Basie gets out of his grave and dances. Beautiful.
I’m becoming repetitive but every performance of Joan Chamorro’s Jazz Band and these amazing singers is superb! Every single one. Thanks for keeping this music fresh.
Ignasi Terraza, when he plays the piano and I just smiling & it's just so good I don't have any words. Ignasi Terraza is my favorite piano player in the whole wide world. Everyone is a professional at the instruments that they play. Rita Payes is amazing singer. Bravo Bravo Bravo Bravo.
So much talent in a band filled with professionals combined with superb young singers , instrument players , wow what a combination nevet seen before. Ok for jazz
I love Scott Robinson. He invites risk to his solos in such a captivating way! He's playing zig when I'm thinking zag. It all makes lovely, linear sense within the tradition, but even so, he consistently surprises me whenever I hear him improvise. Rita is so relaxed here - in the pocket, swinging, and playing with the pacing of the melodic line. I always appreciate the quality of her voice - not a "pinging" head voice, but warmer and expressive. Always lots of "swagger" in her delivery. She's an old soul!
This is pulsating. The piano takes you away! And then the sax and the great Andrea Motis step in...Bang! España has tons of young musical talent. And some cool seniors as well.
Enhorabuena Joan has encontrado una estrella. Gracias!! Rita es la Voz
Just discovered her this week - between her & Cecile McLorin Salvant, this generation's got its divas. I'd like to hear Lilly Allen cut an album of the standards. Think she's got the voice to pull it off as well.
Scotts play reminds me a lot af the great westcoast saxplayer Zootzims.Scott is incredible and Rita sings in such a charming personal way that it"s a joy to hear. Arrengsment is super.
Rita, Andrea, Ignasi, Scott, Esteve y el increíble Jean...Of course, nobody can´t take that pleasure away foer me!!!
SUPERB!!!
One of my favorites by your group. Great expression Rita! Love the way you say "always. always." Awesome improvising and playing Andrea! Love this rendering of the song. Great sax, Scott, awesome drums & piano Ignasi and Esteve, too! Joan Chamorro- thanks again! Genius arrangement.
Nice work Rita. No no they can’t take that away from you!!! Nice tenor sax solo. Great run from Andrea. Nice piano and drums for backing. Chamorro‘s bass always there!
Wow, Ignasi on the clouds, so inspired ! :) Wonderful invitation for the glamourous chorus by Scott Robinson. Yeah. Thank you Joan Chamorro for these moments of living jazz.
Have to comment on the three sax players in “Cherokee”. Just out of this world! Also the Alto sax player who filled in with Andrea in Round about midnight and who soloed in “Laura”. Just phenomenal! What talent....Wow!
Unquestionably the good work of Chamorro conductor. I was fortunate to be able to buy the whole series of his cds. On the other hand I still await the cds pianist and conductor Terraza are also sold in digital media by jazztojazz.
Nice work Rita. Good jazz expression.Listened to They can’t take that away and I can’t get started. Nice trombone work too. Excellent backing with piano bass drums AND Andrea on trumpet. Way to go “Billy Holiday”!!
Bliss! We had a jazz club in Cincinnati, where I grew up. It was called EMANON, no name spelled backwards. Oh my. And this... Why jazz. Well, because we can’t help it.
