I absolutely love my corolla S Plus it's so sporty and very nice.. I get compliments driving this car. Not to mention the gas mileage is amazing!!

I have the blue one the Toyota Corolla S. I had it now for almost two years and I am satisfy. It drives well, good on gas and I still get compliments on the interior and the exterior.

In all honesty this is a car I would consider looking at when I graduate or my saturn dies (whichever comes first). Exactly like this one, S trim in the pretty blue color but with a 6 speed manual.

Just drove the l model today with the 4 speed auto during a driving lesson and it impressed me....everyone who claims this is a boring car and not fun to drive has not been in the 2014 model...the engine is a little buzzy and you feel every bump in the road but I still thought it drove pretty well, similar to our 2010 mazda 6

Just leased it, great little car for 3 years, sporty feel on the s plus model and leather interior is real nice

I test drove an LE model, it didn't have the sport mode or paddle shifters but it had the 'B' mode like in Toyota's hybrids. It was hugely improved over my 2010 CE model. I also love the fact that the CVT felt like a regular automatic with 7 simulated gears. I found the steering a lot more responsive too, although still a little numb like you said. I feel like it's what almost all of the other cars in the class feel like, besides the Focus and the Mazda3. The ride in itself is, like you said, alot like my 2010, only with a more responsive steering feel. I'd still consider this car though!

People always say how they are glad the 4speed is gone but don't say what's so bad about it.mi have the 4 speed average 30mp and it is smooth

It's not that the 4 speed is bad & terribly inefficient but it's forward thinking to ditch a 4 speed in this day in age considering it's been around since the 60's (With Mercedes), & you miss out many benefits. The bump in MPG's from having more gears is only a bonus to other benefits such as far better acceleration & making better use of an engine's power.. To be honest, once you become accustomed to having 5 or more gears, it would be difficult or even stressful having any less especially in a cars such as this. At least for me it is where I couldn't stand driving the older Corolla but this CVT which I'm also not a huge fan of for other reasons, makes the Corolla far more tolerable to drive IMO.

doesnt the lower trim still use the 4 speed? they have cat's but i remember hearing that the lowest trims have 4 speeds

Why is everyone using cvt? Like in some cars it's fine but I prefer a conventional 5,6, or 7 speed automatic cvt dampens the driving experience IMO

At least Toyota is halfass improving their lineups. I think they should focus more on quality and reliability and less on making money. It only gets you so far, an automaker cannot rely on its rep from the '80s forever. The exterior of their vehicles still looks like cheap tinny tin sheet metal and foam filled plastic bumpers and rockers. They do a decent job with the dash and the door panels I will admit. But the rest of the interior looks very '90s to me.

I have a 2003 with 225,000 miles and it drives like it has 60,000. been reliable for years. It is the new body style up from 2002. In my opinion it was ahead of it's time and when I wax her and paint the hubcaps on and buff the headlights (which I do every summer) it looks like it could be in the 2012 line up of toyota's. Just my 2 cents.....

pbandjwrx I don't see these new Corolla's lasting 200k miles. I think its time for Toyota to unveil some new powertrains. Many of their vehicles are 7-15 years old brand new with the exception of some minor cosmetic upgrades.

I would still take a Civic. The Corolla's interior looks & feels far more upscale & updated than the Civic's but the Civic has the better engine & better driving experience.

Maybe, but more likely someone test drove it while having the wiper on & didn't let it fully sweep back to park when shutting it off.

This is an S Plus.. I was given a printout from the dealership which specified everything about this car & that included the correct trim level. :P

+mike ibarra not ruling out any possibilities but it was delivered from the factory to the dealership as an S Plus in addition it was decoded as one with its Vin. This review was made when this body style had just came out & maybe certain amenities & etc became standardized as production went on. Automakers quietly do such practices all the time
