I replaced my tail / brake light bulbs with LED’s from Philips 5 years ago and they are still working great.

I don't have a trim tool. Is there anything I could use a substitute? Would Wal mart sell this trim tool?

Amazons sells them pretty cheap. A piece of wood or a plastic kitchen tool would probably work. Anything plastic or wood that can be used for prying. Last resort: wrap a flat screwdriver with a cloth and use that. Main idea - try not to scratch your paint.

Brought my 2014 RAV to the Dealer for an oil change and Inspection the other day. They came back with a Laundry List of things that needed to be fixed before it could pass Inspection. First off they told me the battery wouldn't pass. That is a LIE! I went to 2 Auto Zones and 1 Advanced Auto where the battery ""PASSED" all 3 times! All 3 places even gave me the PRINT OUT of the Battery Tests. Next the dealer told me that BOTH Taillights were out (Funny they bother worked earlier that EXACT same morning, but 6 hours later they don't???) They said they replaced the bulbs and the Tail Lights STILL didn't work and proceed to tell me it could be ELECTRICAL ISSUES! ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK FINE. REALLY??? They lied about the Battery, so I should believe them about the Tail Lights now? What else could cause BOTH Tail lights to "Suddenly" go out at the same time?? Thanks in advance!

My first guess is that they put the wrong bulbs in the tail lights. Unfortunately other than that you need to do some testing. You will need to use a voltmeter to find out if there is power at the tail light socket with the light switch on. Another suggestion is if you have a trailer hitch / trailer wire harness you could have a problem with that which would cause a blown fuse to the tail lights possibly.

@@JoesCarSmartsNY No Trailer hitch/trailer wire harness. I'm just about to go out to the garage and follow your video and replace the bulbs that I got myself yesterday at Advanced Auto. I picked up fuses as well just in case. Being a woman, this kind of stuff is all NEW to me, even though I drive a 40 foot Mass Transit Bus for a Living....lol I let you know what happens. Thanks for the Response! Your videos are GREAT!

@@JoesCarSmartsNY Just went to follow your video and when I went to remove the bolts to get the assembly out there was all kinds of Road JUNK in there so I'm starting to believe that they didn't even TRY to replace the bulbs like they claim they did. Too bad I can't add pictures to this response because the JUNK is literally caked into the crack and has not been disturbed where the assembly would slide in and out.
