We converted our Sienna into a bedroom on wheels. Hoping to drive cross country with it soon. #van #vanconversion #vanlife #travel #houghton #crosscountry #nomad
Isn't it amazing how everyone constantly ask the same questions over and over? ...like, let's not bother looking at the answers to the other 150 questions.
Its cool that it will make you cooler at night but the extra gasoline you will encounter kinda like the rooftop bins. I think the hybrid models would be cool you could run the vans AC on battery power like the prius. Well this one is new on me. I dont think there are many mini vans with roof top AC. I like that you didnt crowd the inside with a lot of wood cabinetry makes it better looking outback while driving you can actually use the inside mirror. 73
Nice! From the little in-ceiling hooks in my 2003 Chrysler Town & Country, I have looped bungie cords that hold 3 fishing rods & reels, one of which is 7'6" long. Keeps em safe from being broken & out of the way to free up storage space.
this is great! You'll need one of the bins for a stove pots pan dishes utensils, spray bottles and 5 gallons of water. You'll also need a potty pail, amazon..
We don’t cook in the van. We grab food out and keep cold snacks and beverages in our soft yeti cooler. It’s working out great and we r very happy with the set up.
You have a cooler, but do you have a kitchen set up, of any kind? I have a 2016 Toyota Sienna. It is just me so I am able to have more space for storage and much less for sleeping. Nice job.
One question how do you access the bed from outside. I didnt see the door openings real good in the video. Some took out the console in the center but yours looks to be intact. 73
Not sure what you mean. We can open the sliding doors on the sides of the Van or we can also open the rear hatch to get at the bed. We removed the middle seats in the van
Yes. We made the platform just to slide into the van and put dividers for the plastic bins. It is a heavy piece but we can slide it out with help from our kids and store in our garage when not in use
how did you decide to get the AC/heating unit? Does it have a fan only option to exhaust? i like the form factor and was wondering if you can run it while the car is off
Price and rating made us go with Houghton. It had a fan only. It doesn’t run off the car battery. It has to be plugged into a 30amp circuit at a campground
You made your platform too high, trust me. You needed it down closer to your tubs. Also it's gonna be too close to your heat and air unless you can turn it completely away from you. And where's your spare. If it's in the floor, I hope you made the bed so you could access it.
I think you’re right. The platform should have been made a few inches shorter. We seem ok with the proximity to the unit although it’s a little like sleeping in a coffin.
The platform is a little too high but we’re managing with it. The spare will be difficult to access and we would probably need to pull the platform out to get at it
We had a fella here in Myrtle beach do it for us. He was just a private citizen who was handy and figured out how to do it. Don’t know who could do in va.
We bought it direct from RecPro on the website. If you sign up for their newsletter they give an extra 5 % off. Think we paid about $1,500 3 years ago. We had a friend install onto our roof (lives in north Myrtle beach). Hope that helps
Well you have a bed no room for refrigeration or washing not to mention toilet lots of people make them livable but just a bed what gonna happen when it's raining to hard to cook outside.
