First, welcome to the Triumph owners club! love your new Striple! Since you are riding my favourite bike, I enjoyed your comparisons! Yep, "Retro" (Like me, passed my test in 1973) Yep, "Relaxed" and the reason being, the engine is so under stressed its nothing like "tuned" for performance. Those 860cc's are in there, they are just taking a nap! My Bonnie takes me and the missus about in Cumbria and is "worry free" riding. Which is my preferred style anyway. Also must add, the bike feels the same when she is on the back! (she's not very heavy mind you, but the Bonnies comfy two up) So yes your right, she's a retro modern bike! Not for everyone and definitely no comparison to a Striple! BTW, that's not a choke on the side of the fuel injector (cunningly disguised as a Carb!) no, its a 2 position fast running "Jet"! I have a Cumbrian ride in the can ready for upload, when I stop messin with all the Flight Sim stuff!! Cheers!
There's hope for you yet. Give it 20 years and you'll see the light. Either that or your knees will force the issue. Old gits like me already know. At least mine has a kick start :-) Enjoy the run to the Ace tomorrow, would LOVE to be there. Have to settle for a blast round the moors.
Haha. Pgod. I have a lot of footage that I can't post, part of which is when I went up the South downs...Up the Downs..Yes wtf indeed :-) I mentioned that Yorkshire has such amazing open spaces but for us, this kinda stuff is but 60 Miles away. Mate, I had a great day, in the end :-)
wow I'd love to ride a Bonny as well simply because I really like how they look. I'm a fan of these "modern retro bikes" :) Although the Thruxton would be quite a bit more interesting ;))) Congratulations on your great CBR deal and thanks for using "gratis" - finally a word even I can understand ;)
Hey Schaaf. Could have had a Speed, or a choice of a couple others. I went for this as it's simply different enough for me. It is a nice bike but for me, just an A-B bike. I would get thoroughly bored in around 3 days :-)
It does seem strange seeing you riding that Blah, those alien antenna mirrors, lol, it's a good looking bike but I don't know if I could deal with it in white, It's not a semi Cruiser it's a Classic, lol, more to the point did you get any nods from sports bikes when you where on it? love the Title by the way, Nice-ish! lol, always does you good to try something different, and lets face it you never know when ya backs gunna go and you can't lean over anymore, great video buddy, RSMF.
I did Nod Skegg. I was gonna ignore the Sportsbike riders, just for fun :-) Mate, I am no longer leaned over the Bars any more! The Street R is very upright, that is part of it's attraction!
Orca. She looks great and I was very nice to her but Honestly...she is a Pig Dog :-) Do not buy a Bonnie if you want a bit of poke. She's very comfy but the bike offers nothing (That I want) and I can't even think where the Power is on an 850..It certainly isn't in the engine :P Feels like a 250-400cc I did ask for the Scrambler at first...All were out. I did enjoy the bike though, just not for me :-) Pizza was great btw!!!
Great vid mate! Always one gd un in the sales team :) cant recommend Streetbike in Halesowen enough. The guy there name Jason is an absolute legend :) helped me loads since day one.
Indeed Tom. Mate, I have video but I never posted....Yet ;-) It was farcical. I arrived on time. The Service guys were like WTF are you doing here?? etc and so on. I was pissed!! 60 miles and the Cheeky fucker said and I quote "You can cancel and come back another day" WTF!!! Anyway's. Gavin and that Gorgeous lady got things sorted in the end and I got a Courtesy bike. I wasn't going to return to them but now I will. Those guys went the extra and he was almost as pissed as I was at the treatment I received (at first). Mate, glad you have someone that does the same for you. That is all we ask, right. We pay, we come and we conquer :-)
Couldn't have said it better myself mate :) The reception you got when you first got there is disgusting, I'm not surprised you we're angry! I mean if guys like you don't bother bringing your bikes there, they are out of a job. Full stop. Its great when you can take your baby somewhere and kno at least one person there has your best interest :) Jason has always been honest, upfront and goes the extra mile for me, cant ask for more than that really! Texts me now and again to see how the bike is doing :)
That looks like a nice cruiser bike. You said it was comfortable but did it give you t hat 'good' feeling? Nice to get the chance to try something new.
More power to him mate. I can see the attraction. A Very laid back, relaxed and a comfortable bike. Not my first choice but I am so glad to have actually had a go :-)
There's something I don't understand. ...well, there's more than that, but not enough room here! ;-) Why do someone want/need a gearindicator? I know what they do, but what difference can they possible do for me as a rider? Maybe for a beginner, but as I said, I really don't know! Anyway, I can hear you had a good time on the Bonnie, and that's what it's all about at the end of the day, as far as I'm concerned! Tada!
NIce bike TBH. Not for me but I do see the Attraction. No point testing something similar to what I already ride. Would have loved a go on a Scrambler but alas, none in!
OMG snuck up on by a horse!! poor Blah :( My mate has a 68 Bonny - you should feel the vibrations on it - both pistons go up and down together!! That was a good "ya know" video - but you do know I'm a cheeky git - from long ago ;-) ...did you mention "midgets"?? ... moving right along...!! Good one mate - looks like a good bike for a relaxed, no-hurry ride in the country.
Tank Vibes Cap. Wrap ya knees around the Tank and it's like...well Put it this way. The Ladies buy them, a lot :-) I corrected meself and said those of Smaller Stature ;P
Hmm on paper the Bonnie doesn't sound too bad: 70ish bhp & 50ft lbs torque.. but why does it need a 865cc engine for that? You've been spoiled with that ST ;) The amount of times you hit that limiter Im surprised the valves weren't out and dancing on the tank!
TBH Honest Ollie, I worry for the guy that buys the awesome looking 'Ex test Bike' from Washington Triumph :-) Mate, I had a great day today (ACE) and I am just so Depressed that you let me down with the Manual for the Striple R...really, I am devastated ;-)
Yea, OK...I can dig that..Of course I can! The bike is great, it really is!! Unless you want something, not quite as comfy and something that is 0-60 faster :-) Comfort is MEGA btw :P
In a Nutshell...Oh so true!!! After me service I could give her some real beans. She is loosening up very nicely and is a total Bitch :-) I am in love. Cheers gent, btw. I subbed and you never even sent me a Thank you. What a bastid :-)
Did you indeed Sir? I had no idea I didn't get a notification. I'm very sorry mate I always thank anyone I know to have subbed me. Thank you very much for your sub Blah, I appreciate it! I imagine your fuel economy is improving too now then? Not that you'll notice if you can show her what's what now ;D
The Gentleman Biker Mate, I *can* show her what's what to a certain extent...Almost :-) Still not everything I really want to *give* though. I am 'hard' during the Break in period tbh but not mad!! Now that the 500 Mile service is done and dusted I am giving her some beans and OMG. She is a hooligan :-) No worries about the Thank you stuff, that is just me being an Ass and having a laugh :-)
seem to be aimed at older riders that just want to sit back and relax, without the speed and power. Although, for an 850, it should be doing more than 50mph in 1st...
To be Fair Nev. It's not my Cup of Tea but for those of smaller stature, it's OK, especially if you like the Retro look. I just wonder where the hell the Power band is, cos I couldn't find it :-)
Oh and to add…. I am figuring this google page and you tube thing out, sorry for the delay deariiieeee but thanks ever so much for your sub. Tah tah for the mo.
Wow! If that thing didn't have a rev limiter, i reckon you would have blown it up about 4 times!! You hooligan, yey! :)))))) They always say the fastest bike is a hire bike...
Mate. to be brutally honest. I am purturbed :-) It was a nice ride. For me, she was a bit of a Pig but I still enjoy riding something new! I am still trying to work out where the hell the Power of an 850+cc bike is hiding. Maybe it had a day off! :-)
I did enjoy me Pizza! It was huge so I passed it around. I did have 2 slices though :-) Mate, the bike was low, felt light enough to be honest but I have to say...It feels more like a Noob bike or something for the Ladies. It does it's thing very well, but it's very sedate and God only knows where the power goes, it certainly doesn't go in to the engine :-) 850cc...Could easily be a 250-400 and I am not exaggerating :-)
maybe back to the drawing board as far as the power goes then.lol.. I popped into triumph a few weeks back (Ashford) and the guys in there are really great I sat on a bonnie but me being a short"butt" it felt on the heavy side but I not been on bike for a while, (getting back into it real soon)
No, not heavy at all and very low. Just a serious lack of Torque/Power. Maybe my expectations were too high as I thought that an 850 would more than deliver. It didn't... Sayin all that, I know my Mrs would be in love with it. She loves the retro and it's a very safe bike...Not that any bike can be that safe but you see where I am coming from. Not for me, but I can easily see why they sell a shedload :-)
Mate. Ace Cafe. Tomorrow at 9...ish. It's an all dayer so no real rush tbh. Loads going, we are dodging the Marathon Joggers but we have a route planned out.....Apparently..Not me so.. It better work :-) Feel free to turn up, introduce yourself. We do not bite :-) More the Merrier!!
level your camera lens ,,Alex getting a stiff neck ,,holding my head to the side ,,,,joking good vid and review of the triumph bon,, take care as always ride safe
It's a new Lid Shane. Always gonna be wrong until I check the footage and yes, it was wrong! I have adjusted for the ACE meet today (just back) so hopefully it's better, still haven't checked any footage though :-)
my horn on my C50 cant be heard and my engine is quiet. I would have a better chance of shouting and someone hearing me than using my horn! Enjoyed the video :)
Yes. I hear you... Mate, If I had that bike, I would be very paranoid about the Hooter. Sometimes you really need it. I don't know what the Bike manufactures are thinking. We all should have a Stebel Nautilus' fitted as standard :-)
You know nothing or either vibration or slowness until I've given you a go on my Enfield :-D That would be a quality review matey!! Promise me that next time we meet, you will have a go on my bike and review it with the fairness that you will be riding a bike with 1940s technology? :-D
Drobium77 Paul. Bring her to the ACE Tomorrow, I dare you...I double dare you :-) Mate, for sure. I will slag her off but ya know what? I'll still love her!!!
There's a competition running this summer to win a one-off special edition Triumph Bonneville painted in a unique Stranglers colour scheme and graphics. The left sidepanel has been signed by the band members (and lacquered to preserve their autographs). The bike was commissioned by Jack Lilley Ltd to celebrate the Stranglers anniversary this year. Closing date for the competition is 31 August 2014. Take a look at www.jacklilley.com/stranglers
Mate. It was all free but I HATE the Pepperoni, not my thing but I had a most amazing Margherita with Mushrooms. Folks took it off me but I got 2-3 slices ;-) Great day out!
Andy. You're talking about the Bonny right? You absolute fuking Bastid :-) Mate. You good for tomorrow?? No last minute hitches? Can't wait to give ya a great big Man Hug...Ohh err Missus... OK, hand shakes only, Phill isn't there ;-)
Laterider4 Nooooo!! AHh fuk you. Your loss :-) Andy, I do understand. It's a long way for you and if you can't be arsed...I get it :-) Serious. Mate. There will be other times this Summer I hope. No worries. Family does suck Donkeys though, I know, I have been there. So, that's a definite No then?
Mate, Indeed. I shall see you there. Please, if you do see me (via the Bike) come say hi. I have so many folks to meet but just say I am Tatt and I will know who the feck I am talking too :P It's gonna be busy, can't wait :-)
Great meeting you today Blah and thanks for taking the group photo of a right bunch of idiots. Hope to meet you and Mookie again, maybe at the Margate Meltdown
tattooedbill1 Bill. If the weather is remotely good-ish. I am there. Might even bring er indoors :-) Stoked to shake ya hand mate. Can't wait too do this again!
Fecking Right!! I wanted to throw that into the test ride 'review' but I was scared one of the guys at the ACE meet (tomorrow) would punch me in the face :-)
Moonfleet41 Bless you my Lovely...Oh err Mrs. I hope they are gentle ;-) I will expect you to check underneath the Triple to ensure the Clarke is all good btw. Del, You're gonna feel like a Doctor, everyone will be asking you about their Medical/Bike issues :-)
