43:07 "You think it's just kinda his week?" Tells you everything about the moderators. Yeah Kaymer is just lucky trough out the tournament. Lucky Kaymer just missing 3 fairways after 36 holes, lucky Kaymer playing -10 after 36, lucky Kaymer carrying 310 yard par 4, lucky he stayed on the green. He definitely didn't get the amount of acknowledgement he should have gotten for one of the best US Open performances ever. Yes I'm a golf affine German defending my buddy here.

Kaymer seems to be way to well-behaved and intelligent for the average American television viewer, so guys like Kuchar are more talked about due to stuff like underpaying their caddies. Therefore I think people see him as more successfull, because he's talked about more often

@@philipp2854 Lol I love when people try to make the US look bad every chance they get. Good laugh. Kuch and his caddie signed a contract before they played. He payed him what they discussed and had absolutely no reason to pay him more lol quit thinking with your emotions and use some reason.
@philipp2854
@philipp2854 4 года назад
Kaleb Zehr I‘m not trying to make the US look bad, I‘m trying to make a point that the large group of television viewers wants to hear storys about their own guys. I love Rickie for example, but comparing him to Kaymer is like comparing a go-kart-driver to an F1 Pilot. Rickie is a great lad and role model, so he deserves his attention for sure, and he is a great player too, but when these announcers start acting like he is a more accomplished golfer than a Martin Kaymer for example it‘s getting ridiculous

Brilliant golfer. Unfortunately even in 2014 people were focused more on McIlroy because he won 2 majors in the season and was even younger (we seem to obsess with how young players win majors as with Jack, Seve and Jordan...)

Do you know in which country Kaymer is underrated the most? Germany. Golf has a negative image here and Germany won the soccer world cup that summer, so Kaymers Players and Open title got completely overlooked in the noise
@ibrodinho
@ibrodinho 4 года назад
Interesting. Why does golf have a negative image in Germany?
@thilopukall6181
@thilopukall6181 4 года назад
ibrodinho Because it is still perceived as a sport of snobbish people, for bankers and managers. The media often reinforces that prejudice, and some politicians made some pejorative statements towards the sport in recent years...
@ibrodinho
@ibrodinho 4 года назад
@@thilopukall6181 that's a shame because other than it's high cost, golf is a simple game that can appeal to many groups of people across the world. if golf becomes more accessible, I think it could be in the popularity level of soccer or basketball, simply because the concept of golf is universal. maybe one day...

@@jargonaut8956 He basically disappeared after this win. I watched that week and he just hit everything dead straight all week. I remember thinking he was going to be a top player for years to come but weirdly, no. I think he's a HOFer with his 2 majors (one DOMINANT), Players, stint at #1 and Ryder Cup exploits. But yeah, don't feel bad about not knowing who he is. I watch the PGA Tour every week and when I see him my reaction is "oh yeah, Martin Kaymer.." I think fellow German Sandra Gal jinxed him or something when she poured alcohol on him. That's the LPGA celebration. He started playing like an LPGA player.

It's one of the most historical courses in the states for sure. And brilliant design, and re design. I think you need to broaden your mind when it comes to golf course architecture. There are lots of places following suit such as sand valley, bandon dunes, streamsong, cabot, and more. Pinehurst fell victim to the Augusta national factor that thousands of courses have fallen for.
