Here I take a look at cleaning a portion of the intake system for my 3.0L TDI powered VW Touareg. At 125k miles I expected some build-up, but not to this extent!
Thank you, I did end up doing the intake manifold when I had it off for my coolant bypass leak repair. A bristle brush attached to a drill made pretty quick work of it. Brushing it dry seems to make less of a mess as opposed to solvents...
I had idle issues, so I took a look at this and it was even worse than yours. I have 110k km which is about 68k miles. I took off entire intake and cleaned it with supermafrasol over night. Now my Touareg runs as new.
Great video, will do this soon too, low throttle stutters a bit. Do you plan to add an oil-catch-can? I read that will reduce the build-up from returning.
the gasket at 11:21 , you should have changed that one . Also if you want to clean the intake , you should remove the intake manifold/s and clean them , also the valves themselves , and ofc the intercooler and the pipes , apart from what you cleaned . (also every gasket you see after removal of each part , needs to be changed)
great video. many thanks and i might do the same. in repair manual , it suggests that all the gasket should be replaced. And i was wondering if you figured out all the part number.
I did not replace the gasket for the throttle body or swirl flap body, certainly could if recommended, I decided against it right now. I did however replace the intake manifold gaskets because they are much more difficult to get to later, you'll find those part# in the description for my oil cooler/coolant bypass video. 🤘🏻
Perfect, good to know! My 14’ is at 83k and I was considering this since it looks pretty easy. No issues that I notice so maybe better to not do anything until she gets higher and feels a little more sluggish. Thanks again for the video!
Did the cleaning today 83,900 miles. Pretty gunked up so happy I did this. Overall was a 3 out if 10 hard IMO and damn did the Touareg respond so well after it was done. Grab a beer and highly recommend doing this! Solid video, thanks for the confidence ✌️
