@keithquinn5624 my 03 fz1 had the bigger tank but I could easy get 200 hwy miles before the fuel light came on. 160 city miles. That's legal riding, not the spirited type
I bought a 2008 Yamaha FZ1 in 2009 with 14,000 miles on it. It was the best riding, most fun bike I had ever rode, and I have sudden many different motorcycles. None could compare overall to my FZ1. I put over 30,000 miles on it and enjoyed every mile. It was powerful and could get to 150mph quickly. The near upright seating was much more comfortable than the lean forward riding position of true sport bikes. It was super reliable and looked great especially after a few mods. I added an aftermarket exhaust, brass air intake screen and yamaha lower fairing and custom altered with better padding drivers seat and some new adjustable levers. I loved the gold colored wheels. It was then awesome in every way and in my experience one of the best motorcycles ever made. Cudo's to Yamaha for making this fantastic sport touring bike.
Great vid , I have de snd ven FZ1 , she was born n 06 , I'll never sell her , have a naked GSR 750 aswell, nice but never could come anyway near my FZ1 👍👍👍
Hey nice bike bro. I've been riding for 2 summers now. I have a 05 Kawasaki Ninja 500cc... I love the FZ1 gen2... been researching them a lot lately. Do you think it would be a wrong move to go from 500 to 1000cc after 2 summers. Im not an aggresive rider, but my ninja 500 is uncomfortable and i feel like im a little heavy for it. Would love to have something a little bit more stronger and upright seating position. I just dont know if its too early for an FZ1 lol. I'd like to hear your opinion. Thank you anyways.
I wouldn't think it would be wrong. The FZ is about 70lbs heavier and has a longer wheelbase. It wont be as nimble as the Ninja but the FZ has a lot more power. Its very easy to ride slow, it does not beg you to go fast. Its perfectly happy just cruising around. It geared high so the power does not come on abruptly. You really feel the power after 7500rpm. Its an easy bike to learn because of its power band. Keep it under 7500rpm and its tame, but still fun. The riding position gives you a slight lean forward, but comfy, the pegs are not far back but they are higher than many bike in its class, hope this helps.
Which 500 do you have? Maybe have a test ride on some bikes and see what you think? Also consider chatting with an instructor, see what their thoughts are for you. Maybe have them assess you? You'll then have a somewhat expert feedback.
@@moosecapades1722 5 years ??? I already bought it and actually i think its very manageable. Like i said, i dont ride agressive. The bike is awesome and has great acceleration.
Ivan's tune. I used his tune with his suggested airbox mod on my 2008 and my current 2014. Very impressed with the power and smoother throttle. Its a reflash, not a a add on tuning device like a power commander. Check out his website, it is very detailed on how to make an FZ1 perform at its best. www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/2006fz1.htm
i have the fz1n 2010 abs model for a few years, my whole body hurts after 1 hour riding. knees, upper, lower back shoulders underarms everything. i dont want to sell is its a rocket. and has all the known mods including hyperpro suspension etc
Thats crazy. I do 5 to 6 hour rides on my 03. Mind you the farthest ive been in one day is 500 miles and my ass was screaming, even with the corbin seat.
@Yo-Ken I had an 03 fz1 for 17 years that I sold because my knee didn't like the bend anymore. I bought a super tenère. It's big comfy and HEAVY. But not nearly as fun. 1 week after I sold my fz1 I found out about the peg lowering kits. I miss that fz
