2015 10 08 Bristol Scout First Flight by builders 

My Grandfather used to repair these (airframe fitter) in France 1917/18. He taught me how to plane spruce 12 feet long. He is long gone, as are many , many brave young men. Beautiful flying Sir!

What a beauty ! And what a lovely flying field ! At the beginning of the video I was wondering about the 'rust stains' marring the fuselage below the struts and along the 'seam'. After landing I noticed the fresh, windswept oil stains on the struts (3:57) and spattering on upper fuselage in front of pilot. So: not rust - used engine oil. Am I right ? Now I'm going looking for build videos - down the rabbit hole we go ...

I have to ask the question. Why does the fuselage & undercarriage look so second hand with rusty colored marks all over them. I'd have thought if it had been re-built by this David Bremner, he at least would have made the effort to properly restore the aircraft.
