Just put a Borla S type cat-back on my '17 mustang GT and I love it. Deep, throaty growl when accelerating but almost unnoticeable at cruising speeds. Perfect.
After viewing a lot of videos of different catbacks for my 2015 GT, I decided on the S-Type and agree with you completely! These are high quality catbacks that sound awesome! :)
Man i love the sound of S-types. Its more of hearing the engine that artificially created rasps and high pitched noises! Plus i get my noise when i stomp on it and have my quiet when im cruising 👍🏼👍🏼
i can tell the difference in tone between sport n s-type exhaust! i personally like the sport exhaust! but is the s-type really louder? from the outside take off sounds like the sport is way louder!! so im guessing the Atak will be the loudest out of all the Borla exhaust? im ready to order right now but i just want to make sure i get the most aggresive, loudest and head turning exhaust!!!
So when your on it, it drones like hell but if you let off the drone goes away?? So 6 gear and your barely accelerating does it drone? 6th gear goin up hill it drones kinda thing??
Is there a depth in the tone that maybe the cameras didn't capture or maybe my speakers and headphones aren't able to properly show that? Because the S-types were significantly deep sounding on my '13 3.7 and I absolutely loved them, and really want to stick with Borla for my 5.0, but I'm on the fence between these and the MF Competition. And feed back is much appreciated.
is this a better fit than it was on the 2014? on the 2014 mine seem to have a lot of swing on the rubber hangers and often with be vibrating against the spare tire well and even squeak sometimes when it moved side to side in the rubber hangers. No better sound than the Borla S-type even my neighbors that i wake up every morning say "it does sound great". cant wait to put one on my 2105!
The passenger seat has a camera strapped down so I can use my normal mic instead of the gopro. The back seat I used the seat belts to pull the receivers through the seat cushion when I reinstalled the back seat in the supercharger video and just left them connected.
B_rad 5pointoh I am running Kooks headers on mine when I swap. I have made 650 to the tire through 2.5 in exhaust before so I don't see it as a bottleneck.
MBRP sounds like shit. Magnaflow sounds pretty decent, but drones the worst. Of those 3, I'd choose the Borla S Type. Though I went with the Stainless Works LMF on my Mustang- which drones a little bit, and has some of the worst power gains, but IMO sounds hands down the best.
s2t8n9g I would also like to know, I am halfway tempted to go to the muffler shop now and get them to weld in an H-pipe...I really don't like that higher pitch the x-pipe is giving me
Great video, great sound too. Do you know if people are actually seeing noticeable hp gains from this system as well as any of the other systems you've tried/reviewed? Supposedly the stock systems are pretty restrictive. I've heard some pretty bold claims while surfing the web about some aftermarket offerings but not sure how legitimate these sources are.
I wouldn't expect to see huge gains from a cat back system. You are saving a decent amount of weight off the car and obviously greatly improving the sound at the same time. I have read some pretty outrageous claims on HP gains as well but I would not expect more than 8-10rwhp
Thanks for the reply! Yeah 8 rwhp sounds much more reasonable. That sound alone though justifies the purchase in my opinion! The weight savings are just an added plus haha.
Why is a 'popping' sound occurring when shifting. I have not heard that pop sound with other systems at all. I like the Borla sound but definitely not the pop sound.
I know it’s not the loudest but I actually tend to prefer the tone of the s-type over the atak catbacks on mustangs and actually camaros too. The atak is definitely more raspy but the S-type tends to sound deeper, more muscular
Xarthos007 The 15s are going to sound different than the 05-10 will because of the location of the pipes, engine change, firing order, etc so it is really not apples to apples.
