Good setup you have there. I was thinking about using Amsoil on my cars but havent started. I will do some research cause I have been hearing a lot about them and also they are a great company. Thanks

A great video, your the only one I seen with the bar removal, I was wondering how to get around that. Normally I would take the torque up in 3 steps. Say first 15, 23 and then 30. See how some of your bolts were already over torqued by the electric ratchet.
@ExtremDIY
@ExtremDIY Год назад
Hello I did notice that when using the impact on some of them. Removing the bar is a game changer and only takes seconds. I even tried lifting the body but still not as easy as just removing that bar and zip tying it out of the way. Thank you

Can you drain and refill without removing the pan via transfer pump

I changed my '23 GMC Sierra 1500 using a pump. Didn't see the need to go to this extent considering it only had 3k miles. I wanted amsoil in the rear differential though. My girlfriends 21 Yukon Xl denali however, I'll do it this way.

I thought these were suppose to not be filled to the plug line but a 1/2 or more below depending on differential.

Hello I dont think if you go over a little on the oil it will harm it. Kind of difficult to get the exact oil quantity for the gear ratio you have. For me I have always used the oil fill plug as a measure for the differential. Thanks

how often? every 100K?.....also do you change the fuel filter on these every 100K?
@ExtremDIY

Hello I believe around 52k miles to change the dif oil. As far as the fuel filter it doesnt have one. I went crazy looking for it and havent found any. I think its on the fuel pump inside the gas tank. Not sure why GM didnt add one like older models. Just in case do research but I have looked and found none. thanks

Hi, Thank you for great information. I have Yukon 2016 model 95k KM ODO and I went to the workshop to chang rear diff oil but they told me this oil unchangeable and if I changed it will damage and noise sound will appear is that correct kindly advise?
@ExtremDIY
@ExtremDIY 3 месяца назад
Hi. You can change it and put a quality oil that has the correct specs and additives. Clean out the magnet and you should be good to go. Check your manual to make sure get the correct one. If you are going to buy the fluids at the dealer with the vin number they will sell you the correct one. Most likely will be more but since there are different differentials for that vehicle you will be certain that it will get the correct weight. thanks

Legit question, if the gasket isn’t leaking and it’s going to be reused, and everything is good and all your doing is changing the oil,why not just suck out the oil and add new oil, and you’ll avoid doing all the extra stuff just to reuse and refill 🤔thnx
@ExtremDIY

Hello that is what the dealers do. Yes you can do that and will save you all that work. I wanted to make sure it was all good and didnt mind the work. Thanks

Dude, don't use brake clean anywhere near gaskets! Now you need to replace the o-ring on your drain plug.
@EugeneJansen-q6m
@EugeneJansen-q6m 7 дней назад
OMG, brake clean on the diff gasket. What were you thinking?! And "cleaning" the gear with a dirty towel. A steel blade on a gasket surface! Regular paper towels instead of shop towels. This is terrible instruction.

Why would you not use a new gasket? Seems to be cheap insurance you won't have any leaks.

Hello not a bad idea but these are reusable gaskets. Unless you rip it when removing it can be reused. Its up to you if you want to replace. Same as the transmission. Thank you

What a bad design by GM. Just add a drain plug and eliminate taking apart the pumpkin
@ExtremDIY
@ExtremDIY Месяц назад
Tell me about it. they just want you to take it to the dealer. The way they do it is by using a drain pump. They dont remove the cover like this I just wanted to make sure everything was good inside and have a bit of fun with the tools. You can just use a inexpensive hand pump and remove as mush as possible clean the magnetic plug and pour the oil in and you are done.
