Big thanks for this video. Used it today for my 2019. I had to move some radio receiver component on the passenger side but wasn't a big deal. Also took me 2 times to find the right break light wire but thankfully the wire clip is un-do-able. I also propped up the bar beside my car so I could test out the light prior to buttoning everything up. I took my sweet time and spent close to 3 hours. Biggest pain is the plastic panels. Also make sure the convertible top isn't tucked down under the panels when you re-assemble. I slowly raised the top to test and found that the top was trying to pop-off the panels that hold the seatbelts in the back. Easy fix to untuck it. Otherwise I love it and combined it with the "love the drive" wind screen.
I think light bars look amazing, but each to their own. I installed mine tonight. Two issues - the drivers side bracket was not fitting quite right to allow it to line up with the bolt holes. I had to bend the top part up a bit so the main body would go low enough to line up. Maybe it was dropped somewhere during manufacturing, I don't know. Also, the switch plunger (to deactivate the brake light when the top is up) was sticking in the plunged position. I had to sand off some rough edges on the plastic plunger and then added a bit of lubrication. Lastly, not really an issue, but when you use the wire connector tap, you really want to make sure it's making a solid connection. Check it a few times before you put everything back together. I will post pics at CJ Pony Parts shortly.
Great video on the installation with the exception of finding the correct yellow wire. I did the install thought I had the right wire but I guess I was wrong, otherwise it still looks great. When I have more time and patience I'll redo the wire search to make the light feature functional.
Ford did such a great job with the S550. Shoulda made this a functional roll bar with the brake light standard. Put some "oh shit!!!" handles for any people riding in the back for effect. LOL
QUESTION , --------- MY GIRLFRIEND HAS A 2019 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE ECO BOOST . SHE WANTS A GT 500 REAR SPOILER IN STALLED AND THE LITTLE ( LIP WING ) THAT CAME WITH THE CAR REMOVED . SHE REALY LIKES THE LOOK OF THE GT 500 WING . MY QUESTION/ // COULD YOU GUYS TELL ME IF ITS POSSIBLE TO DO AND IF SO , ANY AND ALL ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRICIATED . THANK YOU GUYS 😎👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
It is a cosmetic upgrade, just like ground effects, hood scoops, stripes, etc. There are a lot of people out there that love the look of the styling bars.
***** Just to be clear, while this light bar looks amazing, it offers practically zero rollover protection...it's just not designed to withstand that kind of force.
+CJ Pony Parts isn't the real roll bar welded into floor ? What are my options, the windshield should support weight of car. Anyone have rollover vid clip on GT ?
+Dodge Hemi (Challenger 392) carguy11 here on RU-vid had his 2015 GT fastback hit by a drunk driver on the highway and rollover 8 days after getting his GT... It's not a convertible but still rolled over...
My 2018 has two yellow wires. One has thicker silver stripes. tested worh a test light and thick stripes operated the truck. the other didnt respond when i pushed the brake pedal. help!
Been watching your videos....SICK!!! your skills are amazing. I actually envy your ability to do all this without !@#$ing things up. You need to setup shops across US staffed with just as knowledgeable people who can do high quality work. Or: if you know various shops in various states : recommend them!
Why buy this? A light bar that looks like, but has no actual benefit of a roll bar? It also isn't a wind deflector. This is literally a disaster to install to have one thing: the appearance of, but no benefit of a roll bar. No thanks! People, if you actually drive a convertible, buy an actual wind deflector. If you want cool, get an acrylic or glass one that lights up. Once you use a wind deflector, you would never, ever buy this. Even worse they hacked up your car to install it. Or get a real roll bar. One that saves you in a rollover. This is a horrid product.
