SHAWN RYAN SHOW EP. 041 KYLE MORGAN • Kyle Morgan - Delta Fo...
The invisible scars that Kyle has had to wear for years fighting The War on Terror has weighed heavily on him and his family. This mission was the tipping point that led him down a path of darkness and eventually-healing.
On November 20th, 2015 Kyle responded to an attack at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako, Mali. Two Islamic insurgents stormed the hotel with intentions to kill as many westerners as possible. The two insurgents killed 23 people, including one American.
Kyle, who was alone without any capable SOF fighting force, let alone his brothers (1st SFOD-D members) met the insurgents in a stairway that led to a fierce, hours long gun battle.
Alone and outnumbered, Kyle held the terrorists at bay until a nearby French SOF assault force was able to assist in eliminating the threats. While the standoff would ultimately end with the death of the two terrorists, it wasn’t over for Kyle, who would carry on for several hours clearing and freeing hostages.
Kyle shares with us his vivid memory of this perilous day.
For his actions, Kyle was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross on June 22, 2018. It is the United States Army's second highest military honor.

Hey Shawn , I am no military affiliated in any way but I love my country and envy the fact that you get to meet some of these people , it’s amazing how these individuals don’t realize how much they have done for the lives of every person that has heard of what they have done or had to be saved by them . This is what AMERICAN looks like , this is the unshakeable protector mentality that one could only hope to come close to . This guy is a fucking dog , bites down and don’t let go until the job is done ! Makes me proud to know they have the civilians 6

I know guys like Kyle are mythic heroes. But he hardly mentions the 2 DSS Special Agents that were in the stack with him and helped coordinate the op. He only mentioned them at the 12:20 mark (“RSO”) but only as if all they did was coordinate shuttle rides. Was that intentional to respect the anonymity of DSS?

The fact that you come here and share it is in obvious relation to your sense of duty - that sense of duty and true mastery of your environment is what is missing from a vast portion of society here in America at this point. Please, at all cost, keep these dialogues going - it is one of the only places that people like my son can see what it means to serve a greater purpose and learn to understand that there is a cost VERY worth paying for the protection of our way of life. And remember guys - regular pencil, not ink or ballpoint. If it rains, those will run. Jokes aside, this is a really fascinating clip. You can really see it in his entire body when he explains the heavier stuff... he's back there in the moment. It’s an old phrase. Much older than me. But perhaps it’s never been more accurately used than in this case. “He has seen war.” Even as a veteran of combat, comparatively I know I did nothing. This man was made to do it all that day. He will forever have my respect, as it’s the most valuable thing I could ever offer. We all owe a significant debt to men like this one.

Outstanding dude! He reminds me of my friend who speaks in broken sentences and thoughts seemingly jumping around, but is infact very articulate and communicating in a way that their brains work. My friend was in combat, as a Marine who went MIA with TF626 in Fallujah Iraq 2004 for two weeks. He said he got to go with them "Army Guys " and do what they do, and being with them saved his life in combat , and that they treated him like he was one of them...

Shawn.. that thing you're doing its solid GOLD.. Bro! God bless you for that. You are allowing all these warriors to heal from within. How Kyle said it, showing that it's ok not to be ok, but most importantly, that once again, you can emerge victorious from that. The end of the interview is epic brother. I think you have no idea how powerful that good gesture is for an entire family. That simple gesture raises a beautiful family

Nothing but respect to this guy. Not alot of guys can't make the decision he made to go alone into a 80-20 situation that he might die, and he put that aside and marched foward. I was never in too many gun fights. But I know what it feels like to have look deep within yourself to find that person not everyone has in them. And that feeling of being switched on is something you cant really put in words or understand unless youve been there.

Great advice. As a veteran it's good to take advice. I used to think to I could do things all on my own but I realized actually taking time to listen helps so much. I love learning and gaining knowledge. I'm so glad for the pain because if I didn't go through the things I did I wouldn't have learned. I'm so glad I got help after I got out the military cause all the stress I went through as a child made me always on edge and I worried about what people thought of me but after getting help and being around other vets have helped me so much and I realize how important it is to not to isolate myself during all of my free time but take time even if it's one day out the week just taking time to be around vets and listen to others knowledge.
