7 years later and here we are still watching this review. Highly considering buying one as a cheap daily for those rainy days. Those 20” rims are by far the BEST stock rims GM has ever made, even in 2022
The huge chrome wheels? Those look aftermarket to me, I prefer the 19" GS wheels. Also wouldn't want to be in the middle of nowhere USA roadtrip with a shredded 20" tire. Not sure tire stores in small town Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming etc have a wide selection of replacements...never mind trying to replace the wheel as well if it's a high speed blowout.😮😅
As an owner of a 2015 Buick Regal Turbo with the Premium 1 option package, I am very pleased with everything about the car. It rides nice enough that you'll feel like you're doing 50 when your actually doing 90+ and the seats are very comfortable too. It had enough power to surprise an Audi S4 driver when I first bought it and I can brake-boost it to 2500 rpm and almost completely kill any turbo lag. If you want more power, just a simple Trifecta Tune for the engine and transmission will totally wake up the car. I've also managed 40 mpg on the highway at 60 mph. While this review doesn't exactly bash this car, I don't think it does the car justice either.
I got the 2013 Regal GS interior isn’t as nice as the 2014 GS but I got mine with 81k miles for $6500 out the door!! Too cheap to finance tho so I did have to buy in cash haha
@@TrumpsaTerroristChangeMyMindsome would say the opposite is true. At least the 2013 doesn't have those gawdawful haptic feedback thingies for the HVAC temp and heated seats. That's a huge fail. I even saw a Buick rep struggle with those during a press event ride along😂
I had a 2013 for a year. Had nothing but timing issues and slowed down a lot around 60k, just didn’t enjoy the car at all like everyone else has. Would never own one of these shitboxes again, doesn’t perform as advertised either.
@MrThePrivateer yeah youre right but it goes all ways though. U.s designed many foreign cars too. Germany also designed many uk and japanese cars too. Its the way of the industry now.
Hello from 7 years in the future, American makers have given up on cars altogether (Caddy did make some nice swan song CT performance sedans) and have gone all in on the WEF agenda of ending personal transport. Anyone paying attention knows EV's aren't the future, just near future to wean the peasantry off of personal transport devices that uses a tried and true (and much more plentiful than most realize) fuel in favor of overpriced golf carts...which will bankrupt GM (and Ford, and Stellantis) trying to be price competitive with Chinese made EV's.
to all wondering about the powertrain : Generation III Ecotec LTG 2.0 L (1998 cc) turbocharged 259 hp @ 5300rpm and 295 lb-ft @ 2500-4000rpm, compression ratio is 9.5:1. The engine uses a twin-scroll turbocharger with an electronically controlled wastegate/bypass valve, air-to-air intercooler, Maximum engine speed is listed at 7000 RPM. It has a 6-speed Aisin AF40 automatic transmission and a Haldex AWD System.
Speaking of the LTG. My ATS 2.0T reached 7000RPM before. I downshifted one too many times. XD I'm trying to get it to at least 350HP from the stock 272HP. Fun car overall.
@@TrumpsaTerroristChangeMyMindbring back pontiac, drop buick, keep cadillac. buick eco/luxurycars can just be pontiac’s for those who don’t want muscle
Have no idea. The late Saab 9-5 used the 2.8 v6 turbo in the aero model. So I don't know why they didn't bring the engine over . but again the Saab 9-5 and the buick regal and the Opel Insignia is the same car
You LykeMe you high; or do you own a GS? Either way, you're clueless. Both Cadillac's outclass the Buick. You should probably (at least) test drive and ATS or CTS, before you make that trash assessment.
3:42 Seeing that button totally devoid of any front or rear fog lights is bizarre. Of course rear fog lights aren't required by law in the US but it's weird that GM went to the effort of removing the rear fog lights and making a new blanking plate for the button for US bound models
best looking modern buick upto date but i am definitely dissappointed by the choice of drivetain and the hefty price doesnt leave us with some bang for your buck...Come on Buick let it live up to its Grand National heritage. Let it be the GTR for us successful young people
Gotta admit.......this is a sporty looking car, especially in the highest trim levels. The right colors with the right wheels really makes this car stand out. At its price point, I'm surprised more "millenials" don't choose this car.
@@JulezWinnfield I made this account 8 years ago lol I’m not trying to pretend to be him. I was simply saying I drive one of these regals and it’s plenty fast
Paid 20k for my Regal Turbo Premium II FWD with 18k miles few years ago. Add a drop-in air filter and the trifecta tune and it will beat a stock WRX! Great daily drivers / sleepers
I want one of these. It makes me think of what Saab may have been had GM not killed them and stole their turbocharging tech. The ecotec is based exactly off Saab’s 2.0 eco power in the OG Saab 93.
If you are reading this TFL i would like to see a review of the Lincoln MKZ, looks like a really nice car and i haven't seen many reviews on it. Thanks
This is one of those cars that will never be at home on a track without a few aftermarket mods. What it does well is being a comfortable grand tourer that can still be fun when the road gets a little twisty...but not too twisty😌
I have a 2013 Regal GS with the higher HP output and no AWD and I think your review of the car is pretty spot on. There is just enough sportiness to enjoy with this Buick, but it is far from a sports car. The turbo is less than inspiring with this engine.
Hey the gansterish music you have in the background is perfect. The car strikes me as something a young rapper would drive. The exhaust doesn't sound sporty either. It needs a sound like an Si or Abarth.
It appears GM has listed to some of the complaints. The new 2018 Regal no longer has the plastic fake engine port holes finally. The car is 300 lbs. lighter now, and the engine has more torque in AWD (295 ft.-lbs.). Should make it a little faster, and better handling. We will find out later this year and early next year if it is true.
Maddie K 3 seconds ago Well this generation GS AWD had a 3,981 curb weight. The regal gs sportback ended up being heavier at 4,270. The 3.6l V6 puts out more horsepower but less torque than the 2.0L turbo in stock form. The 2.0L turbo has tunes available that bump up the numbers quite a bit, surpassing the 3.6l in both numbers. The new gen ended up being a bust essentially, thing is an absolute pig with no ability to make faster. Best part is my 2016 Regal Turbo FWD with the LTG only weighs 3,560 after some weight reduction and with a tune it's quite quick. The only benefit of the new gen was the 9-speed auto, the 6-speed in our previous gen left a bit to be desired. But then again...you could get a manual
@@regalturbo401 While true GM/Buick was responding to the complaints made that a V6 should be offered - so they offered the 3.6L used in the Buick Enclave and other vehicles. Not saying you are wrong, but they at the time were trying to respond to public demand. It failed as you stated.
@@Buc_Stops_Here can't argue with that! I absolutely prefer the sound of the 3.6l, the 2.0ts don't sound very good imo. If only they put the twin turbo 3.6 in it, maybe it would have been more successful
You guys aren't launching it correctly. Press and hold traction control button to disable the safety nanny. Then brake torque launch it. The AWD model leaps out of the hole like it was rear ended by a freight train when you kill the traction control.
Roman, I would turn in a little earlier and power out a little later. I think you're coming into the corners a bit too hot, especially in what sounds like a front wheel biased AWD car. It pushes like a FWD car. Just a thought.
if buick would bring back the regal gnx have it rear wheel drive have black as the only paint color and get the 3.6 and twin turbo it and do other stuff to give it more power i'd say it would sell pretty well
Chad Novak You're talking fully fully optioned most likely. However, after incentives, dealer specials, finance specials, and the fact that most will go for lower optioned cars, you arent going to be paying that for one...
Man.. The Opel Insignia OPC different looks far better in Europe than it does in America 1) It actually looks fast and sporty 2) We dont have HIDEOUS chrome alloys
Why does Buick not make a 2 door anymore? Their whole fleet is 4 doors. They say they are trying to attract a younger crowd....A Regal, Riviera, Grand National are 2 door cars not 4 door.
Roman I wish they would use the SS platform and this body design to produce a powerful Classy as well as a very attractive car that the Buick's of the Past provided! The SS looks way to much like a Malibu and not enough Like the IMPALA SS to be any kind of competitor to the Germans or the Japanese Luxury sport sedans! P.S. You and your partner are living my Dream Job ! Thank you sir!
A sportier Camry/Accord I say. Paying near mid ~$40k car means if you wanted to stick to American cars or GM then the ATS with the 2.0T RWD (with a 6MT mind you) might make a lot more sense.
blackcarmafia Yeah the chassis was derived from the Opel Insignia, but ever since 2011 the Buick has been manufactured in North America (the earlier 2007~2009 were made in Germany then imported).
Trades46 well, so are mercks and vws ... still german :) And for focus for example is also german :) On the othe hand .. hmm maybe Opel Omega is american that sold in europe :)
Jeff K I sure hope they fix the styling of the ATS because I'd take this over it. lol Its so conservative its like why did they even bother. Thats not a Cadillac. Thats a Cadilack. lol
Slow!? I drive the european version Opel Insignia 2.0T 4x4 250HP and the top speed Stock is 264km/h which is 165mph messured with GPS...if you only look for 0-60 times and not the overall performance don't test any cars in the future!
+SenorSwagBumy From 1st hand experience, my 2015 Buick Regal Turbo was nearly on par with a 330 horsepower Audi S4, much to the driver's surprise! I seriously doubt that this new 2.0 turbo, with it's several mechanical improvements over the older 2.0 turbo, is down 11 horsepower from the 270 horsepower the older 2.0 was previously rated at.
unknownuser1987 I understand that newers better but still its a fwd 250 hp that just doesnt look good on paper and we know gm is capable of making some crazy as shit.
+SenorSwagBuns I was just pointing out that the car is probably underrated. But check out the Buick Avista concept. With its twin turbo V6 and RWD platform, it could be the hottest Buick since the GNX if it makes it into production!
needs a twin turbo.they should of stayed with the 6cyl supercharger. setup like the 01.also should have a 4cyl no turbo option and a v8 option with a ls engine and performance handling package
Is a really nice car with them rims only and it is fast 💨 I just crash mine for racing n trying to dodge a pit hole thankfully i didn’t damage the body just lost them same exact rims but the car is fast and satisfying just a lil small in the inside but is a good sports car facts
pmsl this is just a rebadged Vauxhall Insignia which has been around in Europe for at least 7 years, some of the parts have just been 'blinged' up for the US market
Considering that the old Grand National is kind of Buick's crowning achievement in the arena of performance street cars, I agree with the idea of throwing a turbo in the Regal. Yeah, Ok. So, it's a sedan but, even though sedans are for family guys and grand dads, it didn't keep US manufacturers from fitting heavy, gas hogging V8's in 'em for decades. Not only were they doing that, but the stock trim engines were embarrassingly weak considering their huge displacement, strong yet heavy iron blocks along with poor placement creating bad weight distribution. Thus, old domestic sedans generally have a well deserved reputation for being slow and lumbering yet, were generally reliable, smooth and inexpensive (compared to imports of equal class). Today, everything is about mileage. Meanwhile, ride quality and longevity seem to have taken a backseat because a generation of limp-wristed fatherless democrats don't know how to change their own oil, much less maintain a car. So, they just replace them every 4 years. So, why not just go with a turbo four banger (especially if it's already AWD)? True, domestic four cylinders have always been a joke when compared to imports (see: Brent Rau, John Shepherd, Dave Buschur, etc.) but, who cares? So long as it'll handle 15 lbs. or so of boost until the warranty expires, the people who buy new cars today would've sold it right about the time it starts to fall apart. So, yeah. Go for broke, Buick. No one cares about your brand anymore. Go out with a bang instead of a whimper like Pontiac/Saturn and the like.
Good points Roman Indeed, who would have thought that Buick would become so vital to GM's future on the international stage? The car is dated! It's so....three years ago!
kma198199 actually you are dead wrong , cars from 90s were much more reliable than today's cars , todays there are a lot of cheap plastic in engine while in the past they were all metal
Wow... 260 hp and it takes that long to get to 60? Even at 5,000 feet, it should be faster than that. What's the curb weight on that thing, 4,000 pounds?
+powermatt idk why he got such a weird number, my base regal goes 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds, quarter mile of 15 seconds. Probably would've been a better idea to have someone else time it for him, probably added an extra second doing it himself.
I hope so, Cadillac as most luxury brands seem to have a habit of making cars that do not last, I mean most people who buy them new do not keep them long, but still. Caddy from the 80s until like 2010 was just not worth it. Northstar engines were garbage, and this is coming from someone who loves GM products
amanoncrack The 80s other than the GNX, and as far as the 90s go, I'd say it was amazing. The LS1 came out, 96 ss impala, the cavaleir/sunfires were some of the most reliable, best selling, and best gas mileage of the time and are still great today if you can find one that's not rotted out. The ford focus' weren't bad either. I mean Chrystler/dodge was terrible, and the only decent vehicle under their belt was the grand Cherokee. As far as GM, I'd say the malibu/grand Ams were bad, and oldmobile started to go to shit. And Ford started making the garbage 5.4 triton motor for their trucks I can understand where you are coming from, but nowhere close to as bad as the 80s I'd say
Wrong that launch sounded really bad... I have the 2013 Regal Gs it isn’t crazy quick but it’s speedy enough 6.3 secs is very attainable just cruzing around town id say high 6secs maybe 7 if I have a drink in my hand lol
man hear all that creaking when he went around the track I just think in a few years the interior will start to fall apart. I wish I could like gm products but come on a brand new car and I hear creaking from the interior
I knew that 0-60 times was slow and I guess it’s because this 15 model only 250hp. My moms 2012 model I bought from her has 270 or 275hp and would likely get decently better times.
