Engineering Explained Since GM seems to like giving you expensive cars, think you could get your hands on a C7 Z06, same price as this Caddy? And or a Z/28? I imagine you might enjoy the Z06's absolutely flat torque curve of 650 lb ft everywhere in the rpm band, or the Z/28's naturally aspirated LS7.
@EngineeringExplained
@EngineeringExplained 9 лет назад
Andrew Wittwer It's not really a matter of price but more so availability. Track cars rarely make their way to the Pacific Northwest as it isn't much of an automotive Mecca, but if anything sporty comes this way I try to get my hands on it! Going to have some cool stuff coming up!

Engineering Explained Yeah its a real struggle in this part of the country. In the area west of Seattle I cant get out of my out of my damn drive way with out having to run over some librarian in a Outback, Prius, or Leaf who all drive 10-15 under the limit, blocking all lanes of traffic with their mobile billboards of bumperstickers, and snow tires no matter what the weather is.

damon douglas This seems to get asked every video and I try to answer each time, but here's the latest: No updates. I still own the car. I still have a lot of parts to install. I still have plans in the back of my head, but it will probably be some time before I get anything out on it. I was trying to find a better solution for data acquisition, but unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding something with a high enough sample rate. So it goes, I'll be making a channel update which I address PI more specifically, but I apologize as it will be some time before I have content on it.

Here the prices can go up to 170 000€ ( 176 000 dollars ) .....plus you need a different driver licence. For example i have B-licence so i can drive car which weights less than 7 700lb. Over that you need C-class, which of course costs again somewhere around 1300€ ( 1350 dollars ) . So yeah, neven gonna be able to get one. If i wanna change the Escalade in a way that i can drive it with B-licence i have to inspection, and it's gonna cost somewhere around 50 000€ extra....

Although I really do not understand the point of this car, I have to admit that American car interiors really have come a LONG way, apart from that steering column mounted gear selector abomination, it just looks awful.
@EngineeringExplained
@EngineeringExplained 9 лет назад
lgliam I always wish for simple controls in the center console area; there's something about luxury cars where they have to be different and it ends up getting overcomplicated. Simplicity can still be luxurious.
@Nonamenever557
@Nonamenever557 9 лет назад
Engineering Explained Rolls royce and the Mercedes S-class also use column shifters
@sphericalsphere
@sphericalsphere 9 лет назад
lgliam column shifters are absolutely brilliant. Whats the point of having an automatic gear selector on the floor? All it does is taking up space that could be used for something else.
@lgliam
@lgliam 9 лет назад
Engineering Explained I do completely agree, maybe it's the fact it's very uncommon to see column mounted selectors in the UK. as for simplicity I do agree it can be luxurious, however you like steering wheel mounted controls don't you? Whereas personally I like a steering wheel to be simple with nothing on it, but again it's down to personal preference.

Not my style of car by a long shot, but it's EASY to see why somebody would buy this if they could fork over the cash. 21 isn't just OK, 21 is actually pretty awesome. Many mid and full sized sedans with V6's city driving get like 20-22, so even if that thing is pulling in 16 or something, it's not bad considering that it weighs 3 tons and has lots of power.

This is the car that combines and represents almost everything car-related thing that I hate as a car enthusiast. But I simply cannot hate it, at all. Tottied Tahoe.... faux luxury at its finest. Even if I were wealthy, I wouldn't want this. Its a GM product, there is no escaping that fact, and that cheapens it when you stand it next to a G Wagon or X5, which aren't "just a...." platforms. The only place I see this vehicle going anywhere is as limo service fleet vehicle. That's the only time I'd ever ride in one... and if I'm given a choice, I'm still asking for a Town Car or a Mercedes/BMW.

@FilippoMasoni
@FilippoMasoni 9 лет назад
Alex MacLean I can get the amount of money you pay for a Range Rover (which might be a competitor) because of the engineering involved and the actual good quality of materials, but this is just crazy. 100k for a steel frame of a silverado with solid rear axle and springs, with a big and inefficient engine. On a Range Rover you have an aluminum modern uni-body chassis , with air suspension that are definitely more comfortable and can be risen and lowered for offroad or highway lower drag. Then you have an engine 1.2L smaller with 100 more hp and a better noise, a proper 8 speed gearbox that you can actually put in manual mode (same gearbox of an f-type). The leather inside is way better and feels more natural in the Range Rover. And all of this is without considering the looks of the two. Oh and btw in Europe you can get the Range Rover with two choices of diesel too.
@FGuilt
@FGuilt 9 лет назад
Filippo Masoni In that case....I'll skip on both of them. :) Seriously, I'll take a base level "normal" suv and just upgrade it to my taste after the fact. But, some people like to have a full course meal served on a platinum platter rather than a silver one....

Driver experience is a relative thing. Need to consider the spectrum of what "driver's experience" could mean

Bad review, the v 8 on the speedometer means what cylinder you are in because this escalade has cylinder deactivation

I'm going to stay alert when driving around these on the road knowing that the driver inside is being pampered with a massage.

Every piece of this looks cheap and fake... those buttons won't hold up to anything. I thought the flagship of GM would be better for all the rage... It's too bad they didn't have any quality in the build. Compare this to a navigator, which doesn't presently have the same options (granted) but the build quality of Ford is so much more solid and refined compared to this.

Hah, exclusive cadillac headphones... Those are literally the exact same that come with new Jaguar XJ's and Range Rovers except with a different name on the battery covers
