Thank you, great video. I just did this today on a 2015 Sierra 1500. I used a 5/32" inch regular socket to take it out, not an e-socket and it worked fine. Dealership wanted $600 labor to do this, plus $286 for the sensor. I bought the sensor myself after the dealership diagnosis telling me the part #. I could have saved another $200 since my cheap scanner said the same thing as the stealership (left impact sensor went bad, but I wanted to be absolutely sure so brought it to the stealership). The old sensor didn't release as smoothly as you show and I boogered up the white clip a bit, but was able to get the new sensor to snap back in and secured with the red clip, and service airbag light went out! Of course I disconnected the battery before doing all this.

Thank you. I was cussing when I took off the splash guard and saw the same thing you did. Going out to get "e-tork" socket and fix this.

Thank you! This is the ONLY video regarding this Dorman 590-225, all others are the 590-222 sensor which the bolt head is exposed. I thought I was going to have to remove the grill and bumper and possibly the radiator to change these😩 Took me two hours of online searching to find your video and very happy it slots in underneath. Now hoping I only need to replace one as the pricing is $150/each now.

Do you have to disconnect the battery?

From my understand yes. You would want to disconnect the negative and wait two minutes before processing. Not disconnecting the battery may cause the sensor to trigger when you are replacing which would employ your airbags. This is information I have found when researching.

Thanks for the video. Did you ever get the airbag light to go away? What is the part number for the sensor?

I have a 2016 GMC 2500HD Denali and my sensors are not this easy to get to, did they change these trucks? I've heard there are 2015 and 2015 1/2s so maybe this is the earlier build 2015? Anyone else having a hard time getting to their senors?
