FYI not always the high pressure fuel pump. You can check pressure with most mid priced scanners. TSB & updated part for low pressures fuel line pressure. Symptoms stalling or miss warm after prolonged idle. . Line low pressure sensor behind high pressure fuel pump can get stuck during idle reading / reporting false high pressure on low pressure fuel supply line. ECU keeps trying to reduce tank fuel pump duty cycle until high pressure pump actually does lean out. Fix is to replace sensor with updated motor craft part. New part has small vent hole in base to equalize pressure. Just an FYI
I have same problem with my 3.5l ford transit, i change the high pressure pump and nothing, can you help us showing where is this sensor, the one you mention have an
Hey, quick question. Is that valve with the black cover that’s sitting on a silver pipe behind the engine called the schrader valve? Need to bleed air from my fuel line and I want to make sure that’s the right valve. Thanks, great vid!
Solved my loss of power issue. The high pressure direct acting fuel pump plunger was stuck in so the car was only using the low pressure fuel pump in the tank to run. Direct pumps require about 200psi for the car to run properly. mine was running on 80. Loss of power, hard to start and couldn't go uphill. This is a very common problem with Ford's.
Im having the same problem. I don't know which to get, the fuel pump module or the high pressure fuel pump as it is described in the video. What's the difference and which one to recommend?
For the future - where can I get a fairly decent scan tool ? Better than a cheapie WM or wherever $ 20 one ? Just what do these cheapie ones are useful for ? And if you can tell me its fairly decent diagnostic uses on possibly a better one . I don't have much experience with these things jus tthe few times at Auto Zone and I jst plug it in and gives a print out .Thanks
My 2015 Fusion 1.5 rpm goes up and down after its warmed up and eventually gets worse until the engine completely dies. Also exhaust smell gas alot and have random missfire code. It might work. Eventhough this video is a focus, it's very similar to fusion
@@junhaoli664 I have not tried yet. The part is so expensive. Last time I checked, same brand as in the video was around $200 plus 70 dollars shipping from Aliexpress and would take a month and a half to receive it. I found a guy parting out his Fusion so I'll let you know if it worked or not. My second strong guess is that there is a vacume line leaking somewhere. Because the car runs fine when its moving. So might not be the fuel rail issue after all. Let me know if you got yours fixed
I got the same code for a Ford focus titanium. I persisted I have trying to change this high-pressure fuel pump with replacing the fuel pressure sensor that’s just to the left of the engine. It’s an easily removable unscrew-able part. I got about three sensors from different for focuses at the junk yard kept replacing them until finally one completely solve the problem of my engine cutting out. Hopefully this will help.
can you help me i'm having problem with error code P0087, P0443 and P00C6... Then where can I buy the tool, namely the Fuel rail pressure sensor? Please guide. Thank you..
I got the P0087 code, replaced the high pressure pump as instructed. The car ran fine for a few days and then went back to giving the same rough idle and low fuel pressure symptoms. I scanned the car and go the same P0087 code again, erased the code and the car runs fine for a few days and then Check Engine Light returns. could it be the fuel pump module or possibly the fuel filter?
Am having the same problem. I replaced high pressure fuel pump, throttle body and low pressure fuel sensor the car is not fixed. Did you manage with yours?
I have a 2014 focus 2.0 when my gas tank is about 150 k to empty when I leave it idling the rpm drops to 500 rpm or lower then jumps up and down then dies and even if I drive 100 kilometers hour dose the same thing if I have my gas tank full it works good what could it be
I bought a focus 2012 titanium manual 2.0... mark the code p0087 high fuel pressure rail system too low... change the spark plugs change the fuel pump... new... but change the rail fuel regulator I bought it used in junker the fault persists when I go slowly, fine, but if I step on it hard to run, it doesn't respond... and I changed the sensor, but the one in the back that goes close to the 02 sensor
UPDATE - Yes , mechanic ised some type of scanner ( the kind with a tablet ) and he said it was pretty certain it was fuel pump . How certain is that ? He said he'd come back and use fuel pressure guage but hasn't . So I went to junkyard and got a used one and still doesn't work . I cranked it several times and sprayed startig fluid into aie intake and still won't run . battery now run down and I'm charging it . I( didn't want to buy new one since it's over 100 for a cheapest one and even more for one with lifetime warranty . So how certain is it that it's pump ??
I gave you an instruction to check im not sure have you did it yet or not. If not you can read my previous instruction to see it has fuel. Let's me know how it go
@@alltsab it had a collision with curb at high speed . Though damaged underneath it was starting and running normally . I had it at home for about four days before I sent it to shop and while at home I ran it to check engine and charge battery . It was normal . At shopm they fixed damage and verry surprised car won't run . Mechanic said he couldn't diagnose problem so I took it home and called mobile mechanic . He used a tool with a tablet and said it was fuel pump so I giot one used and put it on still not working. Used test light to check fuses and entire rows of them not working and I told mobile mechanic but he didn't pay attention. Said he's almost 100 % sure it's pump ..Shouldn't they light up ? and yes I took them out and checked with ohmeter and they're good . Fuel pump fuse is good and mechanic said it's getting some fuel but probably weak pressure ? Please help me I need my car . Spent too much already and over a week now
@@lightspeeddelivery8928 it's the high pressure fuel pump. There's another pump inside the fuel tank. Had this same error a year ago, replaced the fuel pump/filter in the tank. Got the same error less than a year later.
