I have spent a great deal of time looking at various car repair videos. You sir have made one of the most informative videos I have ever seen. Thank you.
Yea if your haven long cranks …or a p0087 code with after it cranks it start shuddering roughly and cuts off eventually or even suddenly… it’s 100% the high pressure “mechanical pump” is the true name for this fuel pump
very Wonderful I thought you were kidding when you said it could kill you if starting with the screws on your high pressure fuel pump. Later I realized the meaning of "safety first and professionalism" -- a tinny note The sound of the music is so loud and the best is to raise the work to youtube without music, to enjoy as if we are next to you while working Thank you straight ahead SOLIMAN
They way you explain it.. is sound so 😨 danger & scary .....I work at an Auto shop replace hundreds of these I never see it pop up that high when losing the bolts..great video !!!
With the amount of pressure behind that spring ..it can kill you if you dont release the pressure off of it first..lot of people do t know that... look at all data or Mitchell and look at the pricedure.procedure.. they actually tell you to pull the fuse or relay and open the gas cap ..then crank the vehicle until it loose the gas pressure.
If you do these many time you already have your own way of doing it safely....and if u think it won't happen when the system is pressurized loosen the main bolts and see what happens..lol
Thanks for making this video helped a ton only thing I can say is when showing what is needed for the repair try to leave the correct one on the screen I couldn’t understand your accent no fault of yours just helps me understand what I need
@@aliquran7535squeeze the tab push in then pull out while squeezing the tab ITF it stiff might have dirt or something in it .. spray brake cleaner then wd 40 or penetraing oil inside and repeat process that helps loosen it up
Good video, may I suggest disconnecting the battery and relieving the fuel pressure by holding the gas pedal all the way down and cranking the engine (Clear Flood Mode) when working fuel related components. Safety First.
Yea that a next way of doing it ..or do it the ford way and remove the fuse / relay for the fuel pump and crank it until ts discharged....many ways of doing it ..
I designed the high-pressure fuel line for this. Technically, once you disconnect from the pump, you are supposed to toss that line and replace it with a new one. But most DIY-type people aren't going to do that. Anyway, that joint between the pipe and the fuel pump is somewhat delicate. You don't want to over-tighten that nut. At the factory, it is put on with a torque-angle spec meaning that it first is torqued to a certain amount and then it is tightened another 35 deg or so. Most people won't have that type of wrench so the next best thing is to torque it to no more than 40 N-m. More than that and you can damage that interface. And tightening that bracket on the high-pressure fuel line last is the smart way to do it.
Hello sir, thank you for this video. Will be working on this today. I just have a question. You mentioned rubbing some oil before installing the new one. What oil do you recommend? Thanks
Hi! Thanks for the video! I have a Ford Fusion 2013 Ecoboost 1.6, and during continuous acceleration (over 40 mph) or when going uphill, there are slight power dips, and the acceleration feels wave-like. There are no error codes on the dashboard or during diagnostics. Could this be related to a faulty HP fuel pump?
@user-ko8fw2lh2p depends it can be several things maybe throttle body need cleaning or going out..or gas pedal not working right can't tell until that check engine comes on with a code
Morning big man the high pressure line on my son's car a leak right before it hits the high pressure sensor . Can the line be disco before the sensor or do I have to replace the whole line to the tank. I subbed big up . One love. Bless genna
@blackjarokat their is 2 lines that goes to the high pressure fuel pump..of its the line with the black quick disconnect you will have to replace it all the way back to the tank. If it's the other metal line replace it and that's a much easier replacement.. its cheaper to find the parts on Amazon and ebay

Hello looking for help wit 2016 fusion 2.0 L only got 35940 miles on I Fuel pump control circuit open code P0627 showing up if I replace t the part like u did in video will help or something else like fuel pump needed to be replaced?? Any advice when I spray starter fluid it will start but for 3 seconds and dies
You have a open circuit ..possible causes you have to check is Fuel pump relay Fuel pump pull pump.connector Mostlikey it's your Fuel pump in your gas tank that's going bad. And replace the fuel pump relay also..the bad pump can mess up your relay so just replace both of them
Will it tick until it’s primed? Mine needs replaced because it’s ticking but once you disconnect the connector, it stops. Plug it back in, it starts ticking again, could that be the pump or the relay? If I replace the pump will the tick go away?
Why did you have to replace the pump? I have a problem with loosing fuel prime over night. Not sure if one of my injectors is sticking open or if it's the hi pressure pump bleeding back. Once started, I never have a problem re-starting. It's just when the car sits for hrs. Same engine as yours.
@RotaryPerfection do you have any codes?..most likely if it's bleeding back it's the high pressure pump not holding the pressure after a while ....you might also want to look at the regular fuel pump and check that ..few times I saw the main pump did that ..but 90% of the time it's the. High pressure pump that does it..that I encounter
@Platnumvi The only code I get is for mis-fire cylinder #1. This start up mis-fire is also triggering a code for upstream 02 sensor. Since this is a return lesson fuel setup, injector #1 is at the end of the fuel rail, so the misfire is coming from that injector pumping air into the cylinder before that end of the fuel rail pressures all the way up. I'm gonna grab a spare hi pressure pump just in case since I'm heading to the junk yard anyways. I also have some of that ATS Chemical 505 oil and fuel treatment I'm gonna try.
@RotaryPerfection ok did you check the injector ..can u do a cylinder kill test with your injector? If so try that and see the proformance on each cylinder....but like I said. High pressure fuel pump sound like the suspect right now since it's leaking down fuel cleaners can work. So try that for the injectors also
@elvisaniefiokasanga6503 this is the high pressure fuel pump that gives a boost to start the car.. which fuel pump are you looking for? The low pressure fuel pump is located in the fuel tank .
@elvisaniefiokasanga6503 the car has 2 fuel pumps ..the 1 in the video is the high pressure fuel pump and the other fuel pump is located in the fuel tank and that's the low pressure fuel pump
That's the piston cup.. if your new 1 dont come with it then transfer it over.. some aftermarket pumps have it on but it look diffrent from the factory 1
@@platnumvi5057 thanks for the info and showing how to release the fuel pressure. Very helpful! Just purchased a fuel system cleaning tool to use on my 13 Fusion 2.0.
@@platnumvi5057 Is it possible to send me the part number of the aftermarket part? Or even better link where is possible to see the modified pump without the piston cup? The pump is maybe modified, but there still has to be the cup.
No. Thats the secondary fuel pump ..the fuel filter is built in the primary fuel pump which sit in the fuel tank...only time it's is change that's if your fuel pump in tank stop working ..once again the fuel filter is built into the fuel pump in the gas tank its 1 assembly

You are supposed to start the vehicle and pull the fuel pump fuse. Let the vehicle run out of fuel. Then crank it for another 5 to 10 seconds. This removes pressure and keeps you from spreading 2000 psi of fuel everywhere.
Not every know how to do it that way as well and don't want them pulling relays or fuse and forget where they took it from...so what I did is a simple way
@Platnumvi show them and tell them to take a pic of fuse box before they pull. Spreading fuel in their face because they cracked it is no fun and dangerous to spray everywhere. If they can't find a fuse or relay in the book... they probably shouldn't be changing a major part... just saying
@Platnumvi incorrect. If a fire starts due to fuel spraying out or gets into someone's eyes and end up in hospital, ow worse, someone gets sprayed and catches on fire... these are wrong ways to do it.
My check engine light pop on went and got diagnostic it should that code! But I was thinking it was the high pressure fuel pump! But when I parked it drove it the next check engine light was off! And then pop on again when I took a long trip! Now it’s off! Have you had that problem or heard of that problem car running fine but something making the check ego light pop on!
@@MAGNUMMITCHXL replace the fuel rail pressure . It is shorting out thats why the check engine comes on and goes off... If it was the high pressure fuel pump the check engine would stay on permanently
Oh man oh man. I would like to point out one thing. And I think very very important thing. I´m not sure how long the new pump last. You forgot to take off pump piston from the old pump and put it on the new one. That´s the little cup you consider as broken pump.
Design changes .especially with aftermarket..if it was missing a piston it would of set a check engine light right away it would not function..that mean it won't build pressure with out the piston
I'm glad you commented, down in other comments, about the cam follower "bucket"... If it's not PERFECT, it'll trash a cam, or possibly the whole engine.
