The starter bolts are 14 mm The ground wire is 12mm Thanks for the vid

I own an automotive shop. Thanks for the video. Even using a hoist, this job is a pain. I'm not sure I wouldn't drop the exhaust and go that way next time. I live in Oregon and we don't have the rust issues. It's doable through the right wheel well and that's how I did it. The biggest challenge for me was getting the battery cable to the starter back on. Even taking off all the clips, the cable is so stiff and with little room to work, it sucks. I would make sure to take off solenoid wire first when removing and installing last when installing. It's that stupid boot over the positive lug that makes it so hard. Anyway, thanks for the video. It helped.

I am replacing one on an AWD and found it very difficult with very little room. I had to remove the passenger's axle to gain the space needed for removal. Made it much easier.

@@Xhrisnineteen It is definitely not a piece of cake, especially if you are doing it alone. It's a nightmare trying to hold the starter and fish those bolts back into place one-handed. I'd recommend installing a genuine Mitsuba and not one of those off-brand rebuilds if you do it, otherwise you might find yourself doing again.

I assume this crv is fwd not awd where you cannot take starter thru fender liner but you have to go from underneath (removing exhaust pipe is recommend to stay SANE)

My car won't start anymore, it would start but I had to move the key around until it started. Would this fix my problem? I've read that the start could be the main problem

It's very possible the starter needs replaced. Without more information it's not easy to determine if this is the problem. Other possible issues that come to mind are bad ignition switch or loose connections somewhere between the battery and starter.

Is the CRV the same design as a HRV? I have a 2016 HRV and need to replace the starter.

It's not very difficult if you have an extra set of hands to hold the starter in place when putting the mounting bolts back in. 😃

My experience with cheap parts from Amazon is not good. Whether it's a starter or a sensor, they just don't last long for me. If I'm looking for a cheap part sometimes I go to the junkyard and pull one. You can also check eBay, that's where I bought this starter. Check the description for the eBay link.

@@EpicHelp it is the same job on a 2.4 2017 crv the part is slightly different but the job is the same. even on a 4wd crv i snuck the starter out next to the front cv axle

hi, question. is there a way to test if the starter is going bad. with the starter still in the car....I have the same car and I think it's going bad but I wanna be sure.

Without taking the starter out and having it tested, here's some things you can look for: 1) Clicking noise when you try to turn the key and it does not start. 2) Your dash lights come on when you turn the key, but it does not start. 3) It takes several tries before the vehicle starts. These are general methods and not perfect. Hope this helps you.

I had it not start on about 1 in 20 or 30 starts so it was extremely hard to figure out even for a tech. They could only replicate it once. I still had it changed though since it's a telltale sign and all other components are fine (battery/alternator). For some reason, these model years seem to have bum starters
