This just happened to my kia optima hybrid in may 2020.. towed to pep boys and they didn't know what the problem was even after checking the battery..had to tow to another local spot and after a few days they found out it was the START BUTTON, even if the car turns the lights on it wasn't turning the car over...got it fixed and has been working so far. Good luck 👍
@@JavierEnriquePalacios good luck. Thank God that problem didn't come back in 2024. Had a new problem. It started turning off due to a lose terminal coil. All in all a great car for a 2015.
My 2015 Kia Hybrid had the same issue . We received a HEV warning on the dash . We removed the hybrid system orange fuse . Replaced it with high voltage fuse part #375F2-4R150 from Kia Dealers price $60 plus tax . You just have to remove the fuse then remove the protection. ( RU-vid has a video how to do it . Then the car went back to normal . I hope this helps someone .
My car did that like two months ago. Took it to the dealership and they kept it for a week. Told me it was a wiring issue and they were able to fix it. It has not done that since. My Optima is currently at 73,900 miles.
hi i live in washington dc. and I bought a 2014 Kia Optima. I drove for 10 days and it happened in my car. and I heard that there is a rule that if the car is less than 100 thousand miles, it is free of charge by Kia service. and I called the Kia service and took my car there. but my car has been there for 1 month and they still couldn't find the problem. they say we are looking for. if you know anything, help me.
@@xanlaragayev4483 I've had my 2015 Optima to 3 different dealerships and non of them can figure out what the problem really is. How can a dealership not know?!?!?! And unfortunately it seems that people posting here have several different "fixes" like the fuse, or changing oil or the start button.
95% in this case it is the 150a fuse not more not less, Kia tells you the module is defective and I'll cost around 1k to fix it but no it is a freakin fuse. Kia will not sell you a $4.99 fuse. So I ordered it online and replaced it. Car runs and drives excellent, 200k miles on the dash and keeps going :)
@Jason there's one eight on the battery when you open the trunk and take the cover away and on the right hand side is an orange security clip the fuse is in there. Then you habe another fuse on the battery eight on the pole. Replace both and you should be fine. My '15 optima Hybrid now has a seized motor with 189k.
Warning lights: From beginning: check engine 1:50: vehicle starts beeping and ready light blinks, then at 1:51 we can see: Check Hybrid System. Stop Vehicle and turn off engine. 1:52: battery light appears, followed up by the HEV warning triangle at 1:55 2:43 somewhere in this time, the Power Steering light is blinking. 3:07 no start.
I own a 2014 Kia Optima and am I the only person who hates it? Other than the looks, I don’t like it. I will never buy another Kia. Soon I will pay it off and I can’t wait to get rid of it. Good luck!
yep! total POS!! im so pissed that i bought this car. Its a great looking car, but made out of crap parts that whine, grind, and squeak. My car broke down at 69,000 miles in the middle of the highway. Towed it to a KIA stealership and they charged me $500 for a diagnosis and fee to replace the fuse. I paid and expected it to fix the issue now its happened again at 75,000 miles. Im trading it in and buying a toyota or honda, non hybrid.
Hi all! You'll need to replace the 120 amp fuse to a 150 amp fuse. There's a tsb for it. This fuse is located on your 12v battery on the positive terminal cable located in the trunk.
not corroded at terminals fuse isn’t burnt out and my “check system” pop up on bumps i got no codes … any suggestions? my car starts just fine just don’t want the situation to get worse hahaha
I'm having the same issue as the video, I will be trying this tomorrow. Kia had my optima for about a month and replaced some things but I'm still getting the issue
I've had a similar experience but all the dash lights come on and the car decelerate on freeway two times. Kia says they fixed it and it happened for a third time. I have a 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid.
La moumoute sur le volant 🤣 ! Je n'avais pas vu ça depuis les années 70 ! Je vais peut-être acheter une Optima hybride dans quelques jours, mais je garderais le volant d'origine 😏!
Hi I have an issue with my 2011 kia optima hybrid, when the engine is cold everything is perfectly working. As soon as the engine gets hot, thats the start of having the issue. Especially when the weather get hot. When the engine is hot, basically from driving it, and slowing down or coming from a complete stop, when i try to accelerate, the electric motor does not respond and it waits til the engine takes over in order for you to be able to drive or move the car (about 3 seconds delay from a complete stop). So when the engine gets rest a bit, then its all goes back to normal (well not quite, electric motor responds but not too long til it switches to gas motor). Basically its all about when it gets hot (weather and the engine). Do you think its something like a sensor?
Hi I just brought a 2014 Kia Optima hybrid did that fix ur issue my car is still running though it’s like it lose pressure and keeps saying let battery charge any input?……../ also it says turn of engine check hybrid system
I had the same similar issue. Mine is a 2012 Kia Optima hybrid ex and all it needed was oil. Took it to my mechanic and he recommended to put oil as it was running low. In my case problem was solved
Heres a Method how to fix a KIA Hybrid 2014 car 1.Hybrid system needed to uptated.Keep Hybrid system up to date 2.Take a car to KIA Dealer.Maybe battery recall 3.Replace a HEV Fuse.Remove a protection. Then remove and replace new one. 4.Or replace the Battery (Battery located in Back outside car) If you have a problem comment down below!
hello everyone. I live in washington dc. and I bought a 2014 Kia Optima. hello everyone, i have a kia hybrid 2015 my question is a little different one day while i was at my family members and i went back to my car my trunk was randomly open i go to start the car and it said EPB and it hasn’t gone away, the other day i was looking for my keys i left them in the car which is normal i’ve never had any problems until the other day the car just locked out of no where with the keys in the car. my unlock buttons for my doors do not work anymore pls help😢😢😢!
Hello. I own a 2013 Kia Optima hybrid. I just purchased it two days ago, I’ve been loving the car. I actually got the same issue as I was driving. Called Kia motors, and they said theres A recall on the engine. I am eligible for a brand new motor. At no cost at all. Provide your Vin number to a local Kia dealership and they will tell you if you are eligible for a recall also! 😊
I faced the same issue with my 2015 hybrid model. It’s been 5 days, kia london and kia canada, both are still clueless about what is the main cause for this malfunction. I love the car, I don’t want to sell it, does it work fine after getting repaired ?
My car had the same warning come on. I was told it was the computer that runs all the electrical systems that failed. Mine is a 2015 and this happened at 30,000 miles, but I got an extended warranty because this is our first hybrid and not familiar with them yet. It was towed in and I was given a loaner. Car is supposed to be ready in a week.
Connie Smith I was told it was my hybrid fuse & most likely the battery. Now just 4 days ago, it has happened again. I honestly don’t even want the car anymore at this point.
Best of luck to you! A few people suggested the HEV fuse in the trunk might need to be replaced. I would check that out first. My problem eventually resolved itself so i have no idea what the malfunction is. Also when was the last time you had your battery checked? I do believe this issue was leading up to a battery that needed to be replaced.
@@robertandrevillegasii3417 thank you ! i recently checked my battery a couple weeks ago, so i’m not sure .. i will be taking it to the dealership if anything.
yo, so this just happened to me again “check hybrid system” ... and here i am watching the same video again and it could possibly now be the hev fuse because it was something that popped on my dashboard (hev triangle)
Jocelyn Machado my car did the exact same thing yesterday while I was on the highway. I talked to the dealership and they said it could be both batteries because they work with each other or either or
Kelsie Carithers That's crazy, I changed the 12v battery in the trunk and it worked for about a mile then it did the same thing and left me in the middle of the street. Changed sensors as well and lights turn on but not the car. Hope it's not the hybrid battery, those are really expensive
Jocelyn Machado the dealership just said it’s possibly*** the relay assembly. They still can’t get my car to start. They don’t know if it’s really the hybrid battery because my car won’t start. They expect me to pay $1300 for a possible part that’s not working because the relay assembly is not under warranty only the hybrid battery is
Jocelyn Machado Not yet. I went to the dealership on Saturday and my car is still in the same exact spot that the tow truck dropped it off. The dealership is saying I’m not under warranty, however I’m under 100,000 miles.
