Your review of the Macan really hits the nail on the head! Absolutely correct when you said this car is for those who want to drive a Porsche as a daily driver during the week while leaving their 911 as a fun weekend car. I love my 911s and I would never trade it for anything else but the Macan gives me what I need during the week for a daily driver which handles rough urban roads, jaunts to the grocery store and extra cargo space my 911s was not designed for. I have the luxury of owning both cars which I highly recommend for those who would rather drive their sports car all the time but need something more practical around town that still drives like only a Porsche can.

Porsche can make any car they wish, as long as they still produce the 911 and have factory racing teams. Every car Porsche makes is extremely competitive and fun to drive anyway so it isn't that big of a deal.

Great review. I, like you, am not an SUV fan..in fact I've always hated them as a die hard hot hatch/sports car fan. However, having to cover some roads every winter that flood & get muddy I felt pushed down the 4x4 route. I was steering the wife to a Golf R...but she thought it would be too low for the flooded roads. I reluctantly took a test drive in a Macan S..Wow!..I was (and still am) shocked at how tied down but agile it felt. To cut a long wait/story short...it arrives tomorrow! It's a real Swiss Army Knife of a car.

Hello, after 3 months of waiting, I picked up my Macan S on December 24, 2014. It was a great Christmas! Now 1800 miles later, I gotta say I am blown away. First let's back up a bit. Prior to ordering my Macan, I sold my 2012 Cayenne S Hybrid. I loved that car, In fact I loved all my Cayenne's. What a great car/suv. But the kids were off to college AND warranty was expiring and causing me concern. So a took a leap of faith and ordered a Macan S. Having owned a 2004, 2006 Platinum Edition and finally a 2012 Cayenne, I knew that Porsche would make another outstanding product. -Fast forward to today, all I can say is Wow. This think rocks. In my younger days I raced SCCA Solo Autocross races to several wins and even a class championship with cars like the M3 and Nissan 300ZX. I know what a proper “sports car”. Should handle like when pushed to the limits. This Macan drives beautifully and when pushed to the limit, dances with the best of them. I agree with Porsche, this is not an SUV -it's a Sports Car in a newly created segment. D P.S. I wonder if I should take this out and give Autocross another whirl.

As someone who has driven Audi's most of his life, readers will be surprised to find my take. It is fair to say the Macan is by far the best luxury compact SUV in its segment. By comparison, the Audi Q5 3.0 (V6) offers 272 hp with an exterior and interior that dates back nearly six years (with some minor refinements). The Macan S has underneath its hood a V6 twin-turbo producing 340hp with a base price only slightly higher than the Q5 (49,900). The PDK (Porsche's double clutch transmission) is far superior to Audi's traditional 8-speed transmission. The gears transition quicker and smoother. One look at the vehicle's interior and you'll be reminded by the benchmark of sports cars (the 911). The combined effect of sport and luxury is magnificent. If you are in the market for a compact luxury SUV, the Macan is the optimal choice.The hurdle is getting one as they are (rightfully so) very difficult to come by currently at dealerships.

Awesome review Guido! I missed watching your reviews! You made a lot of really great points about the Macan. I absolutely love it and it's my favorite SUV. Like you might have guessed from Beth's instagram comment, we'd love to own one of these whenever we need more room in the future. I was very impressed with even the regular Macan S when I did the ride along with a race driver this past summer. I think Porsche hit a homerun with this car and the huge sales figures definitely make sense. Looking forward to many more awesome reviews from you this year Guido! Stay warm! lol

Ever since the concept photos came out on the web, I was a fan. Talk about having your cake and eating it too...you get a great balance of both worlds. And with a kid on the way, man, a true family car that allows for some weekend canyon carving fun!

Guido Sehr Gut Review! You captured the essence of what the Macan is and its niche to appeal to non-SUV drivers like me. I have driven sportwagon Audis, BMWs etc until now-I test drove the Macan a few weeks ago here in Colorado where I live so I want the AWD bad weather capabilities with a Porsche that can take my bikes, dogs and still is a good commuter. Nice test drive, thank you for your comments and advices...Last week I ordered 2 (one Turbo and one Diesel) for my company, your analysis is 100% right.

We took delivery of our Macan S last month (midnight blue) and I love the car. The only thing is that it is still fairly new and we had already a problem with the electronics of the car, which is surprising to me since I have had Porsches for the last 16 years and never had a problem with any of them. Needless to say she was pissed because the issue came up with only 40 miles on the odometer! Last weekend we went for a trip up in Michigan (We live in Chicago about 6 hours away) where there was snow, ice and all between and the car performed flawlessly! Guido you hit it spot on the Macan behaves like a sports car and has the Porsche DNA for sure. My wife on the other hand, although she likes Porsches, had another complain yesterday; "The car doesn't come with lighting in the vanity mirrors"?????? I explained to her that it was part of a package that we didn't choose and her response was "How come a luxury brand likePorsche doesn't have one of the-take-for-granted equipment options standard when you spend upwards 60K for "??, "I don't think I want another Porsche"! My world came down crushing!! lol To her defense I have to say she has a point. I personally don't really care about these things little things, hence I have always liked the bare minimum on my Porsches because I care more about the driving experience and the extraction of excitement that feeds my soul when I plant my right foot to the ground, but for the target market that the Macan aims (people that want the daily driver with all the comforts and not necessarily the one that goes 0-60 in a blink of an eye), I think Porsche should have put some things into prospective simply because many of those potential customers do see the value on what they spend. Maybe I'm wrong but this is a first degree experience with Porsche and for my wife this is her first Porsche car she ever owned. Oh, I forgot to mention that her experience start on the wrong foot from the dealership that we ordered and picked up the car, horrible experience. So, I love the car it drives and looks great but she has second thoughts about the Porsche brand in general, can you blame her for that? Great review, keep 'em coming!!

Thanks for the great review ... I imagine you are somewhere in the Shwartz Wald? with those nice twisty roads. I'm please you had no negative comments about the "sports seats" in the Macan. Phew .. that is a relief. I cant wait for a Turbo .. I will make do with a Macan S Diesel. I could tell you were really excited about it. Tuss!

For me the Macan ticks all the right boxes, its the right Porsche for new customers. I think it will cannibalize the Cayenne a bit. The 911 is of course everybodys dream but this a much more real-world-Porsche. I even see the Diesel version driven around as company cars here in germany. Nice review, I should have found your channel earlier, now I have to watch all older ones in a row... :)

Excellent review. You captured it perfectly: "The better you can drive, the better these cars become". We went from the Audi Q5 TDI to the Macan S. The Audi did everything we needed, but it's not a driver's car. The Macan S feels entirely different, and gives you the sense that there is SO much more to get out of it. We've owned quite a few SUV's, and I don't care for the "vertical responsiveness" of them. They're like riding a horse. Not for a moment do I think SUV when in the Macan. It feels like a sports car with a better view. We'll drive the Macan S another year and then get the Macan Turbo. It's just an amazing car to drive, and you can still carry passengers and load up with groceries. We thought seriously about a Targa--incredible car--but the Macan covers more of our needs and is still a thrill to drive. And most importantly, it feels 100% Porsche. Thanks for your many terrific reviews. I really enjoy them!

Great review ! I agree that the styling is more aggressive and exciting than the Cayenne. Surprising that the Turbo model has the same fuel economy at the S version. Definitely considering it in addition to my Cayman GTS as a second vehicle. Well done. Greetings from the US.

Im driving a Base 991 at them moment. Now I get a lot of shit because I want to drive everywhere in it but i usually cant take everybody with me so we end up using 2 cars most of the time. What would you prefer as a real 4-5 seater alternative: The Macan Turbo or a Panamera GTS as a 911 replacement? The Cayenne is out of the question for beeing to dull.

Great review! Video is very well done. My only feedback I got from my friends on the Macan is that the rear is too small and not so comfortable. That's one element to consider if we want to get it as a DD or family car. What do you think?

Guido, I genuinely enjoy your videos on the cars just as much as any other 'bigger' channel on RU-vid. I got to drive the Macan at Silverstone not too long ago (same time I drove the 911!) and was very impressed with it, I had a feeling before I started watching this you'd enjoy it. Do you have a twitter account at all yet?

Terrific review as always. My comment..is why make small SUV's? SUV's are for carrying items that wouldn't fit in the trunk of a sedan. That's the point IMHO. As well as the ability to so real off roading. For that I would choose a Land Rover LR4 because of it's boxy back end. And for it's ability to go off-road if need be. SUV's made only for road and with the slanted forward back end is pointless. IT's for people who want to say "I own a SUV...I follow trends".

Wieder ein schönes Video! Ein paar mehr Fahrszenen aus der Fahrerperspektive wären gut. Ein kleiner Fehler bei 9:18 "reducing the fuel econmy" wäre ja verbrauchserhöhend ;-) Wäre außerdem interessant, was die Autos so konsumieren, wenn Du sie artgerecht bewegst. Fehlt nur noch der Panamera in Deiner Porsche-Sammlung. Weiter so! p.s.: hearing a slight german accent, just like when I am speaking english :-D

For me, as soon as you say you're comparing it to a 911, I want to hear flat-six air cooled rawness and that V6 really sounds terrible... just sounds like everything else on the road. You close your eyes and really listen and it doesn't sound Porsche like at all. I'm sure it's absolutely awesome and wicked... but.... you haven't sold me.

Hey Guido, If you get a chance can you test a Jaguar F-Pace, when they are available. I would like to hear your comments on that against the Macan.

Awesome review with great production quality. Loved the intro. And yes, I like how it sounds (especially given it is a turbo). I did drive one on the autocross course at the Porsche Roadshow here in the US together with a Panamera GTS and I actually liked the Macan better, even though it was higher, less power and was apparently the same weight. Now I still prefer the 981 Boxster and Caymans and the 911... but if I needed a CUV and would not worry about scratching it up driving into the mountains, it would be a great option. However, I still hope for the Sport Turismo: A Porsche sport stationwagon that has enough room in the back and handles like a Porsche...

I have a 991 911, & want to add a new car as a daily driver, I'm debating weather to wait for the new Cayenne deisel in 2017 or go for a Macan now. maybe a Turbo considering the price it seams great value. Have you driven the Macan diesel? I have taken a quick look at the interior &I felt the Macan seamed a little low rent compared to the Cayenne, what did you think? Did you get chance to try it in the snow or off road? Love your videos, keep up the great work, regards Colin
