i traded my lemon 2014 WRX in on one of these 2 months ago, and i couldn't agree more. it's a very enjoyable car to drive

Purchased a 2015 Fusion, and I wish I would have gone legacy... Have had nothing but problems with my Fusion since I got it...

What the actual fuck do you expect when buying a ford????? Worst brand
@717dash_cam

LeagueOfGosu I was getting 0 interest for 72 months... with 90 days deferred payment... The only way I was getting out of my old car any time soon for something with a warranty... And I just won lemon law yesterday... Ford is buying back the car and eating the remainder of my negative equity.

sounds like you got rid of your old car and made out not having to keep the fusion , I had a fusion titanium awd 2.0 turbo for a rental car and I thought it was comfortable , decent vehicle but nothing I wanted to actually own , I want to buy american to but they aren't the best , their philosophy on cars haven't been the best but I do believe they'll catch up in about 10 years just like the competition cause up to them ! anyways i'm happy that you didn't get screwed in the end may I ask what car did you end up buying after the fusion Ryan?
@717dash_cam
@717dash_cam 7 лет назад
jduke989 I did in fact make out quite well. Ford bought the car back, and ate the remainder of my negative equity. I loved the turbo, the fusion was comfortable, handled well, and I can't really complain to heavily about it. It just had a computer problem they couldn't figure out causing no crank no start issues when the car settled when in park. I wound up with a loaded 2016 Legacy 2.5, for about 40 less per month than my fusion and 60 less than quoted for a loaded 2016 fusion lacking safety features by comparison. I wish I had had a few extra weeks between turning in my car, I would have preferred a 2017 2.5 Sport, as I don't care about leather and heated rear seats, and would rather have rear auto brake and auto high-beams.

So, from what he says, why do people not like CVTs? Never drove one, so is it the driving feel? What's wrong with staying in the power band?

I used to love sporty 2 doors. Then I got myself a midsize sedan with a V6. Over time I've come to love the practical spacious 4 door interior and huge trunk, and a soft cushy ride with a relatively powerful engine. So to me this Legacy has appeal. But I'd have to test this boxer 6 cylinder first. I've heard mixed reviews on whether it's fast enough for a 6 cylinder.

The 3.6r is a fun platform for sure, but damn subaru, when are we going to see a 350hp+ model of that motor paired with a 6sp. STi outback with coil-overs please

I can't agree that Nissan do good CVTs, till this era, their CVTs still has poor response prior to throttle input, step in more throttle, it will just slip unlike Subaru ones which has a higher limit before the slippage sets in and I agree Subaru has great CVTs. It just feels much responsive over Nissan's unit.

It is heavier and slower than the 5th gen 3.6R. In 2013, I looked at the WRX/STI but chose a 2013 Legacy 3.6R because of family and the wife's stare. I was 44 at the time. If I had to choose between a 2015 STI or 2015 Legacy 3.6R, I would choose the STI hands down. The WRX/STI is now about the same size as the 4th gen Legacy. There was a lot of time and trouble put into my 5th gen to make it agreeable. It can now hold it's own at the track and has become a bit unique (at least for a 3.6R). That is it's saving grace or it would have been traded in already. I would have to disagree with a lot of your statements about Subaru. There are many of us Legacy owners who feel Subaru has let us down. If they don't make a proper Legacy "R", I will switch to something else when time comes.

Joe Six mildly off topic, im 17 and drive a 4th gen 2.5i legacy and i love it, however its terribly sluggish and im counting down the days until i can either upgrade to a wrx or supercharge the legacy

I’m looking at a 2011 legacy 3.6R. Everything is great except for the fact that they say they have to top the oil off every 3500 miles or so. Is that a dealbreaker? Have you had a similar issue? It’s not leaking; but consumes it
@joesix4726
@joesix4726 3 года назад
@@devonpeters9458 I don't remember losing much oil in the 3.6R. The 2.5i was drinking it. The WRX DIT 2.0 lost hardly any oil.

My 015/ 3.6r. Legacy still gives me alot more fun than people expect. My theory is that this 7 seconds a lie to sell this car as being safe, it is more fun than it is said to be. it really does feel sporty...i mean its a boxer 6 lol cmon.

How is the wind noise on going 60-65mph during this video? I test drove 2015 legacy a few times and heard lots of wind noise on the driver mirror side, it was driving me insane.

Great review but i disagree with your cvt analysts. I would never ever buy a car with a cvt
9 лет назад
I recently bought a 2015 Legacy 3.6R. I came from a Honda Accord Coupe with the V6 240 HP 5 speed auto. Trust me, this new generation CVT doesn't make me miss the Accord Coupe 5A at all!

Dusty Rains Have the same car in Venetian red, and you're correct! Wouldn't have known it was a cvt if I hadn't researched it. Light years better than my ford 500 awd cvt, and just as responsive as my Genesis it replaced.

This is the rational choice for my next car. It's the sensible thing. However, I have a doubt. My biggest concern with going with one of these is that soon Subaru will FINALLY get around to putting a properly modern direct injected engine in this, or one of the turbo mills (as they have in Japan already) and then anyone with one of these dinosaurs will be SOL with the only Subaru that will legitimately lose value. Because you would not buy this if you could buy one like it with a hopped up WRX motor. You just wouldn't.

Another excellent review. I totally agree with both Subaru and Mazda. And I guess the direct competition would be the Mazda 6. What is your opinion Jeff? The legacy seems to have the power train, but dang I gotta give the looks to the 6. The legacy looks... Well grown up (def not a bad thing) like the rest of its design. It would be a hard choice
@TheHooniverse
@TheHooniverse 10 лет назад
The Subaru is nicer inside, but I'd probably opt for the Mazda6 personally. A bit more entertaining and, yes, the outside is a bit more appealing.

Even though I'm in fl I would still get the legacy over the 6, a lot nicer interior, I like the fact it has AWD standard because it does help in the rain and makes if fun for blasting down duet roads and also subaru at the moment has the best saftey feastures on them

What tires were on this car? The steering is light and responsive, but hardly communicative.
@BrendanMacWade

I believe the default tires on the current Legacy and Outback are Bridgestone Duelers. And yes, the owners dislike them very much. Falken Ziex (or a softer summer tire if you're in warm climes) would be a big step up.

Nissan is the only other manufacturer that gets CVTs right?! Honda's is generally considered to be far better than Nissan's. Other than that, this is a fine review. I really do need to test drive a Subie when the time comes. What kind of fuel mileage did you experience during your test drive?

"You cant take your kid around that"... Ha!...In the winter I find an empty, snowy lot. I turn around and say "Buddy, snow fun?" He says "YES!!" and he gets one or two tame donuts. You can still have SOME fun. But really fun driving must always be a solo adventure.

i have the 2016 3.6R here in Australia and it is quite an impressive car. It could do with a bit of a sports tuneup to the suspension which i plan on doing but it is a great car to drive all the same. No where near a sluggish as people try to make out. Especially in Sport sharp mode. Pick up one of these in Lapis Blue , add the Sports mesh front grille option and tint all the windows as dark as possible and it looks absolutely stunning too. The standard grille looks awful unfortunately.

The performance of this car is an absolute DISGRACE!!! It accelerates 0-60 in about 3 days. Don't for one minute think this is an "enthusiasts" car. Subaru seriously screwed up by putting CVT's in the 3.6 Legacy. The car desperately needs a 7-spd geared automatic with paddle shifters. In fact, if this car had that, and a turbo, I would buy it. Otherwise, I'm not dumping $35,000 on a car that will be out performed by my 14yo Toyota Corolla that costed half as much. And, that's a pretty sad thing to say.
