2015 Toyota Sienna SE - Redline: Review 

Six years later, this is still a great, dynamic, no nonsense review of this vehicle. Very useful for those of us that buy used!

This is probably the best looking, sporty minivan I've ever seem. I have a 2010 2nd gen now, but I'm planning on upgrading to one of these in the future.

I own one of these and there the best, I work in construction, most of my co-workers ask me to buy a truck but I bought it and convert it to my mobile camper. I sleep on site for like 1-2hrs after that, I head home and depending on traffic I get home in 50-1hr 20

if i ever have a big family, i would definitely get a minivan. makes way more sense than a SUV

The Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey are my favorite minivans. I kinda like them, I drove my parents old 2004 Honda Odyssey EX-L for a few years before that traded it in for a 2015 Toyota Camry XSE 4 Cylinder. I wouldn’t kind driving a mother one at all, I wound care what people will think. There is nothing wrong with driving a a minivan to a Camry.

Imagine if Ford and Toyota did a joint-venture on the Sienna and added a 3.5L V6 Ecoboost to the mix. That would be some amazing fun right there.

My aunt has an 02 Sienna with 4 kids and it still runs great it was just passed down to my grandpa

The Dodge grand caravan and the Chrysler town and country has 283 hp. So this is the third most powerful minivan. But love your vids keep up the good work!

Wow. the new interior is light years ahead of the last gen. Funny how they can keep the exterior basically the same but make the interior SO much better.

Nice review, thanks! The leather and glove box are not trimmed in leather. Those and the doors are trimmed in vinyl. The SE Premium, over the SE, adds Entune, TV/DVD/HDMI, and push button start 'only'. The other options are standard on all SE models, such as sunroof. We, nor our salesman, was not aware that Entune was an option. We also didn't realize what we were missing by not getting Entune, which has its own entire manual. The third row in most vehicles are vinyl. Not sure if I've ever heard of leather third row seats. After owning our 2015 SE for 10 months, I can say that the seats are NOT comfortable for much over 45 minutes. Go for a 2+ hour trip and the seats are painful. I've had passengers complain about the hard seats. The storage in the Sienna is awesome. The WOT fuel cutout for traction control is very annoying. Another annoyance is driving when the engine is very cold, under 25F. When that cold, the engine shifts into 1st upon stop, when this happens, and it is at an increased engine idle speed due to the cold, it will surge forward. That surge can be alarming, especially in a panic stop. I'm also not impressed with the MPG, which is no better than our old 5spd Quest SE. We average 23/24 highway. My wife misses her Quest, and is no fan of her new Sienna. We didn't get the new Quest due to the boxy styling and CVT.

I have a Toyota Camry and I love it. But minivans have a special place in my heart. For some reason, I love minivans.

Never seen you review a minivan before. This is a first for the channel. By the way, you mentioned all the minivan players in the segment except for one: the Nissan Quest. What are your thoughts on that one. It's the only minivan with an CVT (I know you hate those, but this is Nissan we're talking about here) and it actually gets the best fuel economy than the others in the minivan segment, like right at crossover SUV numbers (20 city/28 hwy). Don't know about the ride quality (I haven't driven one yet), but the fuel economy alone to me is very impressive, and makes me think of trading in my, rather pathetic, '05 Grand Caravan SXT for a Quest (even though I'm typically not a minivan person).

Great review. I'm mainly a honda guy but in general a car enthusiast. Beinga a Honda guy I didn't need but wanted a Honda odyssey and liked the 2nd and 3rd gen but saw the 2nd gen had a lot of transmission issues which seemed to improve over the years but sonded like all years had issues, along with sitting in both 2nd and 3 gen I loved sitting in the 3rd gen felt like sitting in a accord around similar year test drove it and loved it, feels lile driving an accord but with a little more weight behind it, also 3rd gen had roll down windows, an option for a mooonroof, which 2nd gen didn't have so I picked up an 05 exl which I planned to do a small build (oem lip, oem optional side skirts, coilovers, red honda badges, sound system etc.) But got one with a bit higher mi. And ended up with the dreaded vcm issues which I had heard a little about but didnt know the extent and so I was going to need a new engine or rebuild along with not knowing how much longer the trans was going to ladt even if I changed the motor so finally after alot of thing and review etc, Ive decided on a Sienna Se and am Excited, cant wait to find the right one that not crazy expensive(saw a 15 or 16 limited with 32k mi for $42k the other day...nuts. anyways thanks for the awesome review.

A camera in the right side mirror that actives with turn signal (Odyssey) was a no brainer compared to an add on package to get blind spot monitoring. Toyota's 2nd row seats and rear seats that fold down have tracks that look like could get messed up with sand. I wanted a Toyota with its drive chain based engine, but the Honda features won out.

Warning! This vehicle has excessive and uneven tire issue that Toyota have not addressed. Less than 20k miles and tires need replacement and would not pass inspection. Google and read complaints in sienna chat forums and you’ll find out a lot of owners are having this issue. Tires problems are potential safety issue.

I liked everything about the review except the lead foot. I cringed everytime I heard that poor engine rev so high. Do people really drive like that? Its not necessary to rev so high to get the thing going.

If "minivans" are so huge and have so much utility, why don't we refer to them Multi Utility Vehicles (MUV)? The term "minivan" is incredibly emasculating name and does a severe disservice to these vehicles. That name contributes so much to the "soccer mom" image, so if we were to refer to them as MUV from on, the image might fade with time. I still have a soft spot for MUVs, and would hate to see them become extinct due to them being phased out in favor of full size SUVs and crossovers, so is there anyway these vehicles could be designed/transformed in order for more carries to create their own, and to cater to a wider range of consumers? In fact, with the way MUVs are designed (small, sloping front end and long, box like frame), is it even possible to create an attractive MUV?

would rather pay more in gas and get 2 mpg less with Toyota than have to deal with the Honda VCM system which is the only thing allowing honda 3.5 to get better mileage. Have fun replacing active computer controlled engine mounts which communicate on their own data network. ENGINE MOUNTS!!!! this component should not need its own computer/network but its what allows honda's VCM system to even function properly which in turn allows honda to boast better fuel economy. Of course most consumers are completely unaware until they get the bill from the dealership when these systems fail.

I will just put a third row in the Toyota 4Runner 😍 . I love that SUV for myself, and is great for family. A minivan or FWD crossover will not be included on my shopping list 😝 .

mine is a piece of junk ..dealer has it more than I do ..just had Toyota repaint my new sienna and now steering column problems ...junk ..worst car ever owned ..tires last about 25000 miles ..read owner problems and do not buy ...I'm 64 .. .

Why does this guy always call the engine the "Corporate engine"? Isn't every engine Toyota makes a "corporate engine"? I would think every engine made by every major manufacturer is a "corporate engine". I don't understand the inference.
