One of the best reviews of this car I've seen. I've just picked one up, 2 ltr diesel CDTI Sri SS absolutely loving it's style, poke and smooth performance.

very happy owner of a 2016 66 plate 2.0cdti insignia SE model, its in a very lovely pearlalecent blue colour. i got it as replacement for my 2016 corsa SRi when me and my partner found out we would be having a third kid so the bigger car was a must have. very nice to drive, very spacious even for a family of 5. if there is one thing i would prefer my old corsa over the insignia, it would be handling. i really feel the weight of the insignia in the bends. but with 167bhp, it definitely isnt lacking in power. my car also has the larger media screen with live traffic updates from its built in sat nav, plays dvd's also. you really cant go wrong with these cars when it comes to value for money. , they look great. relatively great on fuel despite there size and weight, i went from Edinburgh to Glasgow during morning rush hour, still averaged around 69mpg (maybe more, i can't remember)

I've a pre facelift Insignia SRI CDTI remapped to 207 bhp as my workhorse car. Steering's dead/lifeless but road holding is pretty good and even with 18 inch alloys, it rides fairly well. It's raison d'etre however is it's ability to effortlessly cruise at speed. 2,100 rpm at 80 mph so 38 mph per 1,000 rpm. Makes for a very relaxed motorway cruiser. The standard version of my car does 8.9 seconds to 60 mph and top speed of 135 mph so it's no slouch and as it's a diesel, it feels faster than the figures suggest. With the remap, it's pretty quick. 0-60 mph is easily under 8 seconds and I suspect the top speed will be 145 mph now that it has the power to exploit the gearing more. Coupled with the refinement of the Insignia, it's very easy to speed without even trying. I've driven much faster cars but the 310 lb ft torque in my remapped Insignia makes for quick, effortless progress. I was on the motorway the other day accelerating off a slip road and looked down at the speedo. I won't tell you what speed I was doing. 😉

That car sounds outstandingly quiet to my ear.

You seem to have a far back driving position, quite noticeable when you tried to adjust the manual volume on the console. Great review. I like when you said a very important point to me which was engine rpm and cabin noise at 70mph. You sound alot like John Virgo too! Thanks.

Interesting what you said about Opel and Vauxhall selling cars at the same time - in some cases the same car rebadged, like the Vauxhall Carlton and Opel Record. So I take it Opel were introduced to the UK market, then united with their Vauxhall couterpart - which I remember. Then Vauxhall happened to be the more successful brand as it was more universally known here, hence why Opel was dropped I reckon. I always wondered if Opel was introduced here by GM as an experiment to see if it was worth dropping the Vauxhall brand.

Opels were superior design and far superior build quality, by taking the Opel designs and selling them in the UK General Motors saved Vauxhall. when it was announced that they were going to merge and we would have to sell Vauxhalls we were gutted, to appease us Vauxhall invited all the Opel Dealers to visit the Vauxhall factory at Ellesmere Port, whenI went an Astra EXPS was going through "Quality Control" as I remember the "Quality Controller was sat with his back to the Assembly line drooling over a picture of Gillian Duxberry on page 3 of the Sun, the car however was not in as good a shape as the door was smashed in, however it sailed through, 3 other guys were playing darts, all the Opel Dealers came away knowing full well that our days were numbered and that the British Car Industry was no more

@@BarrieCrampton It's unhealthy on the transmission my man not a good look when you're selling the car 🤷 Thx for the video though it's helped me gain some insight on this vehicle I'm buying tomorrow

@@Elliot0666 - This is completely wrong. The Insignia Barrie is driving is an automatic. There is no direct link to the transmission other than the shifter arm. Resting your hand on an automatic shifter doesn't do any harm at all.

Hahaha, I just picked one up. Glad I got it at a budget price. Only thing that slightly concerns me is that it's only done 2k miles in the 6 months before I got it. It does have a full service and Mot history though so...
