I borrowed one of these for a few days, and all I could think of was how much better I like my 2012 model. In my opinion they have completely ruined the XJR. The only thing XJR about the new one is the engine. The seat and riding position is much more comfortable on the old one, and it can hold 21 litres of fuel compared to 14 for the new one. This is a thirsty bike, 14 litres wount take you very far. It used to be a great allrounder, now it is just a hipster accessory. Edit: I forgot to mention the complaints about the tiny passenger seat, and she is not a big lady.
The 80s we're the glory days of motorcycling. The v4 is just an inline 4 in a v layout. the xs and xj series were the best bikes. The x11 was king before the v65magnum.
With only 98 bhp seems to me low powered for a 1000+ cc motorcycle, I would expect more from a big naked retro muscle bike, it should be at least 130 bhp for these type of bikes. I love the design and excellent looks of it, but I expect more power out from these machines. For a bike that delivers less than 100 bhp there are other cheaper options on the market with less weight and under 1000 cc engines which delivers the same power.
Pruction212 Only I can say that the bike has a very long life with ageless look and very strong reliable engine, the new XJR is a big strong, wonderful for experienced riders, motorcycle for the term of one's life.
Black downpipes look cheap. Plastic tank with reports of increasing ethanol addition to fuel puts me off as well. Pity cos a lot of this machine looks really good.
