So timing is everything... stopped by Onset HQ as BOX 5 was transmitted for an alarm on Cranberry highway. Not many places locally blow the horn anymore so it was cool to watch the response. Ultimately a false alarm.
For anyone who is wondering, that big horn with the box, is not the horn. It's just an inactive Federal Sign & Signal Thunderbolt 1000/1000T. The horns are next to it.
I will take the diaphone over any siren, very distinct device and for those of us who still use municipal Fire Alarm, much easier to sound the box number than with a siren.
There are 2 horns. 1 is a Leslie Typhon, the other is a Diaphone. I used to help maintain their 100 mil system. The horns are on the new Station set to go back in service.
@@zacharylynch2469 That is interesting. Yeah, I saw a facebook post from Onset FD stating that they are bringing the horns back after years of them being out of service. It is really cool to hear that as the town I grew up in had gamewell fire horns that are now deactive sadly. I heard those horns all the time for like every call. sad to see that others wont get the same experience I did with them in that town lol
