This is a nicely produced video. It shows technical video production and investment. As for the 2016 QX 50, I love my loaded model, it serves my purpose as I drive up and down the east coast on business. All in all it is my personal buggy.

I bought one of the last 2017's because it has true hydraulic rack and pinion steering vs electric. My last Honda accord coupe had electric steering (v/6) and I loathed it. The new 2019 infiniti get way better gas mileage but drops almost 60hp 268 vs 325. The new 2019 has a cvt vs the 2017 proper 7 speed transmission. Have you driven a CVT? I have and I am not impressed. The handling is great on the 2017 as well. Based on the 370/g37 platform, you cant go wrong. Sure I wish it got 30mpg, but if you want a Sports Utility Vehicle vs a Soft Utility Vehicle, then this is the one you want. You can still get one for less than a loaded CRV or RAV which neither is in the same league. That's my story and I am gladly sticking to it.

I have a 2009 FX35, which I've loved. I've been thinking about replacing it, but the new QX70 is overpriced. The QX50 looks like a viable alternative.

It actually may be a smidgen quicker than the FX, due to its smaller size, Brant Hadaway, if you're into that sort of stuff. Chris owned a first-gen 2003 FX35 and loved it all 8 years that he owned it. They did get expensive, though. We appreciate your comments. Thanks for watching!

Great overview; can't believe you didn't take those leaves out from under the hood strut on the right.😋59k on my 2017 and still look forward to every single drive.

Try to get a suv like this in 2024 with 3,7 v6, 325 hp (non turbo) with real trans (not cvt)

Did you also check out the qx70? I'm torn between the two. Would like a little more space for kids, but don't want to give up the qx50 sportiness.

I am familiar with the former JX 35, now known as the QX 60 I believe, a bigger vehicle with a 3rd row and better gas mileage from the 3.5 cvt combo and if you don't go crazy with the options, you won't be paying a lot more. Your review was excellent, you sold me, except for the mileage.
@AutoAcademics
@AutoAcademics 8 лет назад
Yeah, that 3.5L has never had impressive relative fuel economy, but man is it a great engine! We'll be posting our review of the QX60 in the coming weeks so stay tuned. As always, we appreciate you, pedro fernandez!

The water holder in the center, should have a opening platform so the drinks and bottles can be placed deeper into the console...

Push a button and the bottom of cup holders drop out and allow for large water bottles or don't press it and have a secret storage :)

looks very similar to my 2008 EX35 , same interior even.
@AutoAcademics
@AutoAcademics 7 лет назад
Yup. Just a bit larger now. It's our understanding that a significant redesign will be coming in the 2019 model year. Chris' FX35 lasted 8 years with no problems so hang in their a bit longer. :)

Interior is similar but exterior is much different and especially the engine and transmission. It has 3.7L producing 325 horsepower and 267 torque with a 7 speed gears. EX35 has 3.5L producing 297 horsepower and 253 torque with only 5 speed gears. Don't get me wrong, old and new are both incredible vehicles.

At least, with this car, I do not have to remove a mirror off the top of the place to put my sunglasses in. Zoom Zoom! Nice car!

I was considering getting the Infiniti QX50, however no power liftgate and outdated internal design is a deal breaker.
@AutoAcademics
@AutoAcademics 7 лет назад
While it's a great driving and powerful vehicle, it's design is getting a bit long in the tooth, nick plescia, but we expect a significant update soon, now that the QX30 has hit the market. We appreciate your comments. Thanks for watching!

Honestly, after going to different lots and test driving different similar cars, I bought the QX50 because it drives better and has more power than all the rest. I put that ahead of all else.
@lisawood3924
@lisawood3924 7 лет назад
Pushing a button and exerting little effort to lift the gate is no deal breaker for me. In fact, all of the powered ones seem to move too slow. As for "outdated internal design," what exactly is "outdated?" The fact that it hasn't changed much in many years, doesn't mean you're missing anything, if you pay for the technology package. I've liked this body style since the first time I laid eyes on it. Furthermore, I like it when manufacturers don't change the body much for long periods, like Porsche and BMW and I think the silhouette of this car has come Porsche-like shape. I have arrived at this one by process of elimination. I wanted something from last year, to knock off the new pricing. Looking at all crossovers for 2016, I didn't like the look of BMW's or Mercedes. Lexus has the ugliest front end ever, so that was a no-go, even while I'm currently in an '08 Lexus GS350 that has been great. I was looking at getting the 2016 Macan S, at $55K, but felt some heartburn about spending that much and then potentially having high dollar maintenance in the future. So, I began looking at this one, seeing the space added to the back seat and still loving the look, I can be happy with the 325 horses and save $20K.

@@lisawood3924 I didn't like that I had to push a button to start the car. I want my car to read my mind and start automatically. Seriously, you buy the QX50 because of the 3.7L V6, snappy 7 speed automatic, and sport tuned suspension. Alternatively you can go buy a much more expensive Luxury crossover with a turbo 4 banger that takes 3 minutes to wind up to redline. Look no further than BMW and Mercedes. Given what Infinity has done to the Q50 in 2018/19, those 16s and 17s are going to be real prizes on the used car market. Get one while you can.

@@CrazyAboutVinylRecords your reply was too funny talk about putting that person in their spot lol I got a good chuckle out of that one. I just bought a qx50 infinity and that thing is awesome! When me and the salesman got in there to take it for a test drive even the salesman almost pooped his pants and how much power it had on take off. As a matter of fact I think when I was doing all the paperwork the guys were out there test driving it because they were talking about it too much and the things they were saying they had to have been in the car test driving it to know what it was doing. I scored big on that one. Got it at Gary yeomans a Honda Daytona Beach Florida. I lost my Cadillac and a flood in Port Orange and I was heartbroken and then I found Gary yeomans Honda and the people there were so awesome and they worked with me and were very empathetic on what I was going through I lost my house I lost my car my dog is dying and they not only had excellent customer service but very compassionate and did everything they could to get payments down to where I could comfortably make payments on this totally awesome infinity! I was starting to have a little buyer's remorse but after reading these reviews I feel a lot better and your response was the best of all! Thank you! Susie 😂

It's a great sized car. Where's the turbo 6's the sedans are getting? News has it the next iteration will only be a turbo 4

Infiniti revealed the QX Concept at NAIAS 2017 this past Monday, Jason Wang, and you are correct. It will have a turbo 4-cylinder when it hits the market in 2018. The concept looks much more aggressive than this current-gen does, so we'll be anxious to get our hands one one. Thank you for your comments and for watching!

Infiniti still makes these? Chris definitely went into the way-back machine for this review......2010-ish, or so?

LOL Believe it or not, this QX50 received some updates for 2016, which is why Infiniti sent one to us. Love the "way-back machine" comment, though. Some days we could use one of those. We appreciate you, J High!

A buddy of mine bought an FX35 around 2005 or 2006. It was a cool novelty car back then because you didn't see a lot of them. I don't think it ever became hugely popular as compared to the Lexus RX. I still don't see very many on the road over the past decade.
@AutoAcademics
@AutoAcademics 8 лет назад
J High Chris bought one in '03 when they first came out and he loved it. We do see them around every now and then, but you're correct, there are no where near as many FXs as there are RXs. Stay tuned. We have another Infiniti review coming soon!
